  1. Technically, the answer is a big No. We are not allowed to bring food off the ship. Depending on which ruins you are going to, they may provide food. The Dzibilchaltún does have a small food place there which i heard is good. we are looking at doing that one as it is close and possibly add in the beach for a combo. reviews said they have food at the ruins which is quicker than trying to get it at the beach and better tasting.

  2. i heard somewhere on here i believe that they have ppl who for around 10.00 will take you from the ship to avoid the long walk. I as well want to confirm that again. lol

** ok, there is a bus, do not know if any other option is out there other than that.

  3. Yes Tom, ship does happen. To some ships more than others it seems. The delay in arrival this morning wasn't even our biggest complaint about this particular ship. And no, we would not prefer to travel by air in winter, even from Houston. As I stated, we had fun as a family. We just won't sail this particular ship again. I will write a more detailed review once all the family are gone and the laundry is done. It will be an honest review and hopefully everyone will read it with an open mind, even if my opinion doesn't jive with their's or with what they want to hear.

True true. crap happens on any vacation. Yes, everyone will have different opinions on your review. My first cruise was on the Triumph and am taking my daughter and grandchildren in April. I look forward to your review and as I do with any reviews, I take that knowledge and make my own :)

  4. I learned from these boards to visit my Carnival VIFP page often to snare deals offered there, usually before an email alert goes out. I've gotten a great Vista offer and several "casino" reduced fares that way.

Throughout December, I had 3 offers in my VIFP folder until Christmas Eve, when those offers were removed and replaced by NOTHING. Christmas Day, NOTHING. Today, day after Christmas, NO OFFERS.

I'm just hoping that New Year's will bring a special round of new, improved, and special fares.....is everyone's VIFP folder void of offers like mine is now?

heck, rarely do i get any good offers at all. standard past guest blah blah. 1 time i had a casino offer but the site wouldnt work. and right now even tho the offer has expired, still on my vifp page is promo for a whopping 50 cabin obc. but again, was already expired lol. plus im sure full dep. i booked with the 50% dep avail to all.

    It is what it is.

  5. i've cruise out of NY twice. first cruise was 5 day to canada in June and it was rainy both ways. but thankfully both port days were beautiful. Last cruise was in Oct bahamas. rainy leaving port but not coming back in. still too cold when we were out on deck. It mostly its up in the air on weather. can go any way.

Just like right now. Dec 25 in New England and we have NOOOO snow.. 50/60 degree days. sheesh.

  6. So, are you saying not to book onboard... Just posted on another thread and now I am totally confused;0!! Hoping the rep on the Triumph is knowledgeable and helpful... Can you make an appt?? I hate the long lines and they are never open when I am available... HELP!!!!

The best thing to do is be prepared. Look prior to your cruise where and when you want to cruise as well as cabin location/type ect. Then go to the future cruise desk. compare prices.

When i look online i do have to laugh as depending on special the price of the cruise goes up some to "offset" that special. but getting something extra NEVER hurts! lol..

  7. i was happy to see that too. looking at oct 2017 for family cruise but wasnt able to get prices so was looking at 2016 to get approx. then this weekend was looking at cruises again and BINGO hahaha. nice to see as we need to book in advance, but sucks too as my 2nd job i cant take 2 sundays in the same pay period off lol

  8. Interesting, i used gift cards and didnt have to put in the amount and didnt have to put the pin # in either. then clicked on use another gift card for our deposit for upcoming cruise as well as our next oct cruise.

Just remember, the system can only do up to 5 a day. have to wait till next to apply any others.

  9. cbCRR I signed in her account there is nothing that says choose time, I assume its because Pt. Canaveral doesn't have it yet?

Started only in Texas first and by Jan in New Orleans before they will roll out to other ports. For the Triumph in New Orleans, that starts April.

they are trying to make it not so crazy inside the terminal and have check in go more smoothly. I will see in April! :D

  10. I stand corrected on the auto tips. I got that information from someone on this forum who either wasn't corrected or I missed it. I did a Google search and saw a job at from Oct 2015 for camp carnival staff. Salary $1400-1600 tax free per month with food, accommodation and health insurance.

about what i get after taxes from my main job. but no food, bed or insurance. but man, to be away from my grandkids and my daughter months at a time.. nope.. couldnt do it. even at my age lol.

  11. My cruise is coming in February, what is the best way to build up a credit so I can minimize the use of my credit card? Where can I get gift cards? How do you get OBC? Cruise cash is the only one I have managed to figure out. Thanks!

This is what i did last cruise.

I went to carnival.com and my cruise and purchase $400.00 in cruise cash, it will be on your s & s when on ship. ( i save recpts of purchase) I also had $200.00 in Carnival Gift cards I kept until I was on the ship. My credit card as back up. I had $100.00 obc from the booking i did.

They work off the obc first, then they work off the cruise cash. I needed more, so i put my carnival gift cards on my account. At the end of the cruise I have $84.00 on my credit card. Its a nice way to have your vacation pre-payed as much as possible :) :D

I word of warning. Cruise cash is NON refundable. If you purchase too much, you will NOT get a refund. So either purchase only so much or just make sure you pay attention to your s & s account. If you find you will have some left over, go to the casino, swipe your card and pull out that money on the slot. maybe run a few spins. Cash out and go to the casino cage and get your cash back in hand. :D

If you use the Carnival Gift cards (some stores carry them) and you have money left in s & s, they will give you back the amount in the form of a Carnival gift card. (keep your cards just in case).

I am a Best Western Rewards member and i can use my points to get Carnival gift cards, woohoo lol. I have been working on getting them through this last year so i can have my cruise taken care of. Also, some companies, ie: aarp or verizon has an option for getting Carnival gift cards too.
