  1. that's like this cruise I got booked. I used my citi card thank you points. and I am always on manage my cruise just checking and noticed the bal due was different. gave them a call and seemed that citicard thank you network had not sent over the payment when due, but with me calling and her getting ahold of financial they figured it out and got it straightened out. "whew" not as bad as your cruise getting cancelled tho!

and I tell you what, if carnival rebooks and wants to say charge more, you get the golden nugget to pay that difference since I agree as well that it was THEIR screw up. and as another poster stated as well, GOOD THING you checked, finding out now is wayyy better than showing up to board and they say, sorry, no dice!

  2. Sorry but I am not accustomed to being satisfied with paying for services that I don't receive. If I pay for FTTF and then don't have my room ready and luggage delivered early (the main reason I purchased FTTF) then I would want a refund of the amount I paid for that. It doesn't matter if the ship were late and if it was beyond the steward's control or not. The guest paid for something that they didn't receive and should be entitled to a refund of that amount.

No one said to storm the guest services desk yelling and complaining that the steward didn't do their job, just to ask for a refund for services not received.

i agree. no one told the OP to go complaining big time, just stated to go to guest services and explain the situation and to let them know. True, the beds are not an issue, easily fixed. but the OP did pay for the service of having the room ready and the luggage delivered.

  3. Doesn't Carnival have a 1A guarantee and a 4A guarantee? And maybe not on every sailing, but I was thinking both guarantees exist.

that's what I'm thinking. the guarantee's are for a room type, ie: balcony's as well. you pick the room type, pick the guarantee and then they will put you anywhere that's not sold yet.

I agree with the one poster, I like to know where my cabin is going to be VS the guarantee.

  4. it could be also the fact they got a 50% coupon/disc from the prior cruise. Read the fine print on that and it could state no further reductions. That is a possibility especially as weather is out of their control. I'm surprised you got one for a hurricane but I wouldn't turn a 50% off future cruise down lol

  5. anyislandwilldo.. go to carnival forums and go to looking for carnival assistance and ask mary/michelle about this. she will tell you to forward her the information and will get guest relations to look into it.

a single person cruiseing pays for 2 ppl to cruise, just not the port chg's and taxes which as they say they are reimbursing you for. So the cruise WAS paid. there should be NO extra charges. you should have been able to say as well that it will just be you cruising because as it was you were past the time for any cancellation.

  6. no, something is way off. her cruise was paid in advance. the policy anyways of cancelling too close to the cruise is 100% loss. If you book a single (and no single special) your paying for 2 ppl anyways only not paying the port chgs and taxes.

OP definitely should be calling carnival to find out. There is no way there should be charges as they paid for 2 ppl. doesn't matter if it was 1 or 2 that cruised

  7. I went to book a particular room I wanted on the magic for Oct. 19.

The room I wanted was not available. I had to go back to Sept. 28th to

find the same itinerary. The next day I'm looking again and the room that

was unavailable the night before it was now.

So I call up CC and explained what happened that I had based my decision on

their we site and ask if I could change to the original cruise I wanted.

Only if I pay 100.00 to switch. That's like 10% up-charge on what was already

a higher cruise fee. The decision was not arbitrary but based on their web site info.

Talked to a supervisor too and no way. I get the reason for the change fee but it

was a decision based on their faulty info.

Any suggestion on who I might appeal to.

    JT

pricing and availability can change many times. Also someone could have put a 24 hour hold on that room the day you wanted to book it, then didn't book it. or like others said, they booked then switched/cancelled. If you booked early saver, then yes, you will have to pay the $50.00 "cxl" fee as you in fact cancelling this cruise to book the other cruise.

  8. Oh great, now my early saver credit isn't showing up on my online account even though they gave me the overall lower rate. I don't have a PVP and have no idea how to get one, but next time for sure I am booking through a phone call rather than myself online! I'll call in the morning and ask them to review my account once again.

if you have your papers in a folder, bring those with you. My obc from a special booking disappeared after having to cxl 2 ppl out of my cabin. the woman said that the online manage my cruise sometimes won't show up after that, BUT it is still on my acct.

  9. Us too. I was sure when Carnival announced return to Norfolk that it was a matter of time before they told us they would tell us B-more was back on the list too. I'd just prayed it would be something different - Sunshine would have been GREAT! LOL

I avoid Nassau and Freeport when I can and don't mind HMC at ALL, but.... I'd sure love to go somewhere different.

We are booked (as of yesterday) on the 14 day repositioning cruise back from Tampa, but I don't think we can do the Pride again for a few years - even though B-more is just so dang convenient.

We're at the port and parked in <1 hr. It is SO hard to resist, but I can only go to Freeport so many times in my life before I just sleep in and forget I'm in the Caribbean!

What, does Royal have a lock on Bermuda? Geesh! I'd be ok going North too!

I read a bit back on the news that Carnival and Bermuda could not come to "terms" regarding porting there so Carnival stopped cruises there.

  10. The news release said 10-12 sailings split between May/Oct.

I love sailing from Norfolk, but in recent years opted for the Pride instead. I had my choice of any date I wanted that way and it was actually cheaper to pay for hotel/parking and what was usually a day longer cruise from Baltimore than to go from Norfolk. (I have family in the Norfolk area so no hotel/parking for me there.) Carnival is pulling out of Baltimore, though, so that won't be an option much longer.

I'm going to watch and see what ship/itineraries they have. If it's the same old 5-6 day Bahamas cruises, it probably won't be much draw for us. If they were do 7-8 day cruises at a reasonable price or Bermuda, I'll definitely consider sailing from Norfolk in 2015.

They will be sailing out of Baltimore 2015. read the press release regarding that. so that's cool as that's not too far from me. lol

  11. Shukapaw, did you sail the Valor out of San Juan? I was just on the Valor last month and there was no Future Cruise Desk. I was going to book my Splendor cruise while I was on it but my PVP told me there wasn't one available so I booked it directly with her in December. I saw the desk while on the cruise and there was never anyone there. Its outside the Casino so believe me I saw it often ;).

Glad I didn't wait though. The costs of the Splendor reposition cruise has skyrocketed since I booked.

it sure has skyrocketed because of cancelling out from Nov to April cruises.

Not sure what the difference was, when we sailed the Valor I got the future cruise there. But when we sailed out of San Juan on the Victory they did not have the desk.

  12. We were at a hotel with a group and were able to have all the rooms keyed the same, but it had the type of locks that you just waved the keys in front of it vs. just sticking it in the slot (not sure if that makes a difference) it was very handy.

actually it hit me this morning when I was coming into work. there is a function on the key machine that lets you key a key for a "section" so depending on how it's set up that is probably what they did.

  13. I know ppl love the bigger balconys, you are over the showroom but looks to be over the stairwell. if you like to go to bed early you will most likely hear the shows. but other than that I wouldn't see much a problem with it. Hopefully someone who has stayed in this room or 6448 can comment

  14. I've done the Canada cruise but was in June. the waters are more rockier than in the south especially as we had rain going and coming back lol. we went to st. johns and Halifax. it was cool especially as it was our first cruise :)

Oct is fall weather so don't expect it to be warm unless some freak weather lol.

  15. theres only 2 of us, though started at 3 then 4, now two lol. but the last time we cruised from NYC we took the train in from Albany and are doing it again as i find it more relaxing than dealing with the traffic/gas/tolls lol. Though with the 2 vehicles with that many ppl may just as expensive as parking.

  16. as others had said on the first post today regarding this. First she said she couldn't leave the ship because her s&s wouldn't let her.. BUT, she then states how the mexican yelled and threatened her.. well which was it, you got off the ship or not.. lmao

  17. same here with my PVP. never calls me. i call her, set up our booking. Love it when she says, "Welcome Aboard" once we've completed the booking. :D

now the funny thing is, my one friend thats been on 2 cruises with us, shes under my booking. well of course she's signed up on carnival so she can check the booking, etc. and shes been getting calls to book. duh, she already is, tho now she's had to cancel out of this cruise. i told her to tell them you already have a PVP. she said the woman said she was hers..and had called like 3 times since we booked in Oct. hasn't since tho lol..
