  1. With us it was via our TA

It does say in the information about these upgrades that if you booked via a travel partner then the offer is made via them, Although  in practice not sure if it works like that for everyone

Bonnie or anyone who may have the answer to this question: This fall I will be taking a cruise and moving up to the next tier in the loyalty program. It will entitle us to four free nights. I am planning on booking the next cruise on board to take advantage of the LCV discount. Do I have to just book a cruise within one year of the change in tier or do I also have to set sail within the year?  I have called Azamara for clarification and received different responses each time.  For example, if I book in October 2019, do I have to sail by October 2020 .

    Thanks, Jackie

Laurieb is correct. You only need to book the cruise within one year of achieving the status. We booked our 6 free nights 11 months after moving to Discoverer Plus and sailed over a year later

    yesterday 4 n2 available 8062-8068-8069- 8071 today 3 available 8068-8069-8071

seems that at least 3 upgrades have been done since yesterday.

please tell us if you got it

    Not us sorry to say

We are Discoverer Plus so I can only assume if these have been allocated as LCV upgrades then it must be to someone at Platinum or booked even earlier.

  4. Thanks for the prompt replies. Maybe there is still time but if not it’s good to know these offers are still a great perk and as I said I know we shall enjoy a great cruise with an amazing crew and interesting people

Must think about packing and what fits post the festive season!

  5. Hi fellow LCV members

My question is about the LCV $398 upgrade programme.

Has anyone in recent times been successful  in obtaining this perk? We sail on the 23rd January (less than 2 weeks) on Pursuit and it would appear there are lots of unsold cabins still available in most categories apart from inside.

Dont gat me wrong we are happy with the category we have booked( balcony)  and even happier to be sailing on Pursuit which is the newest member of the Azamara family. We love Azamara and have cruised happily with them many times and are now Discoverer Plus members.

I am posing this question to ask is this still a viable possibility to be offered this perk on a future cruise or am I entering a dud raffle!

    Thanks

    Thanks.

Which of the Radisson hotels was it? There are more than one in CT.

In our case it was the Raddison Blu Waterfront which is far closer to the V&A Waterfront. I believe the other one is further along the coast

Our Azamara Journey cruise finishes in Cape Town. We'll only have 2 or 3 nights in the city because we need to work -----to pay for more cruises, of course!

So, where would you suggest we stay? We usually book Sofitel hotels if available but I see that CT doesn't have one.

    Thanks.

We stayed at the Raddison Blu Waterfront, fabulous hotel on the front, we had breakfast outside each day whilst watching dolphins frolicking in the bay. Only 5 mins from the Victoria Waterfront by complementary shuttle which runs hourly and very reasonable. Great breakfast buffet.

It is worth bearing in mine that Pursuit has been in Europe all Summer and its quite likely that Royal Club will be back onboard when the ship takes on new supplies in Miami.

    Good point

Quest had just made the trip from Athens to Dubai before we boarded. The tonic on offer apart from those in the know like myself who found out about the Fever Tree was that other disgusting tonic I think it’s Seagrams ( May be spelt differently). I think it rivals Royal Club in the yuk factor!

I second your sentiments, Phil...pleased and somewhat surprised. By that I mean it’s news to me. I’ll see if I can find out more.

If it is only a test, here’s hoping guests “vote.”

    Thank you Bonnie

I was more than pleasantly surprised when we boarded I had even packed a case of Fever Tree tonic cans as we knew we would upgrade our package and couldn’t bear to ruin it with inferior tonic. As it was only a one week cruise I could just about manage to squeeze it in but fingers crossed for our 16 night cruise on Pursuit in January that that we won’t be put off upgrading the package because of the tonic options available.

Had another great cruise on Azamara, thank you to all the ship crew

We are on Quest in a couple of months out of Melbourne. Let us hope and pray that the Fever Tree is restocked before we get on board (it will need to be after we get off!:classic_biggrin:)

Let’s hope so . I suggest you get lobbying now Steve. Maybe an email to Richard for UK guests or see if Bonnie has more information.

I shall certainly comment on my post  cruise feedback and have already spoken to Fabio onboard who is Quests Food and beverage manager

    YAY!

Does that mean it’s ‘included’ or do you have to pay extra?

We have upgraded to the Ultimate package and were not sure if this was a perk but have just asked the question and it is included in the complimentary list. Apparently it is as a request of guests and it is suggested that if enough people request it it may then feature regularly As I say it’s under the counter here but available on request. Hopefully enough role will cotton on and put inthe request

    vicki

  12. Breaking news! We are on Quest now(sadly leave tomorrow) and they have Fever Tree tonic onboard. You have to request it but have had no problem this week with my G&T.

I did ask if this would now feature on all the ships but haven’t got a definitive yes.

Lets hope this is the start of something more permanent

    i am a happy girl!

  13. Vicki, I think that is first day. Otherwise it's usually either 2pm or 2.30pm on sea days. The Patio is your other casual choice that opens later until dinner time every day.

    Phil

Thanks Phil, just didn’t read it through properly. Still love this outdoor venue on sea days to dine al fresco. On Quest early November before trying Pursuit in January

  14. I want to thank all those who have brought up the tonic issue, as I learned a lot about G&Ts. We took the Viking British Isles Explorer cruise last month, followed by 10 days on our own in England – I was able to taste several flavours of FeverTree [it is so good that I could even drink it straight], and bought a bottle of Silent Pool gin to bring home. Haven't had a chance to crack it yet, but I'm looking forward to Silent Pool with FeverTree Elderflower tonic. [During the Secret Cottage tour of the Cotswolds, our hostess served an elderflower non-alcoholic drink that was lovely.]

    Hi

Not sure from your post if Viking stocked Fever Tree or you experienced it on your subsequent land tour.

We were served Fever Tree as standard on a Crystal cruise and I am led to believe other lines have followed suit.

I really hope Azamara will move in this direction, especially when we often purchase the upgraded drinks package and then have very inferior mixers with quality gins.

Have to agree they are so good that they can be served on their own, but nothing beats a quality G&T!

  15. Does Azamara give Onboard credit for having 100 shares of RCL stock?

The short answer is yes and no

The “granting “ of onboard credit for 100 RCL shares is dependant on many factors including the type of fare you booked, the promotions you have, no net rate fares and.more. The terms and conditions for inclusion are not always clear. You need to apply prior to sailing. We have mostly not been fortunate to have this credit applied but on the plus side the stock has performed well!

  16. Hi Vicki, Pursuit is a lovely ship and sure to become a favourite of many especially The Den, maidens always have there challenges but we have enjoyed this one very much although we’re still waiting for the special treats we were promised.

Did hear that there may be good news on the horizon regarding tonic which is why it was such a disappointment when Royal Club reared it’s ugly head.

Glad you enjoyed the cruise, shame about the special treats that didn’t materialise. Hope that good news makes a swift arrival , our next cruise is on Quest at the end of October

Hope to see you on another cruise We are considering Antarctica among others

    Vicki

  17. I regret to have to report some very bad news, after having had Schweppes Tonic for the first 9 days of our Pursuit cruise the dreaded Royal Club Tonic has made an appearance. We’ve no idea why and it’s extremely disappointing following the assurances that Schweppes Tonic would be used at least when the ships are in Europe.

As it’s Pursuit it can’t be old stock!

Britvic is still the diet tonic so all is not totally lost at the moment.

    Hi Carol and John

Noooooo. back to lugging tins of Fever Tree on holiday, big disappointment!

Hope you otherwise enjoyed the maiden cruise

  18. Hi

Has anyone used the Tours by locals site for a shore excursion in Bahrain?

We are interested in visiting the F1 track and have seen this listed on the site at a competitive price compared to the exorbitant prices on our cruise line.

    Any information appreciated

    Vicki

  19. I’ve never come across that and can only assume they were chauffeur drive services linked to various hotel groups, which also double up as Careem or Uber services since they started up. I can only suggest that if they try to direct you to one just say that you don’t need a private car just a regular RTA taxi - especially from the airport to Port Rashid as it is a fairly short and straightforward drive between the two...

    Anne..

Thank you again Anne, I will remember your good advice

We stayed in Dubai for 3 nights early last year as a stopover. As we left the airport we went to the taxi rank and there were two rows of cars. One row beige cars with different colour roofs and the other row was of black cars. As we got to the front of the queue we were directed to one of the black cars, which I think may have been chauffeured cars and possibly more expensive, but I am not sure, not do I know why the person who was directing people to one row of cars or the other chose to direct us there. No problems with the transfer, but the return to the airport was a lot cheaper. Time of day may have made a difference.

Maybe someone else can clarify what had happened then.

Thank you for that information, maybe someone can assist, it sounds like you may have been directed to a much more expensive option if the transfer back was a lot cheaper

    Vicki

Yes, there are money exchange counters and ATM's within the arrivals hall but if I remember rightly they are after you exit customs and are on the way out of the building. All taxis in Dubai are regulated and metered and come under the guidance of the RTA and only those vehicles (and the Emirates courtesy cars) are allowed to pick up passengers within the airport - they are all beige colour (the different colour roofs are just an indication of the various owning companies) and charge the same fares. I would just note that there is a surcharge for pick-up within the arrivals terminal which will already be on the meter - I think it is currently Dhs.20 or Dhs. 25 so the actual distance fare will be added to that...

    Anne..

Thank you Anne for your very prompt and detailed reply.

It is reassuring to know we can expect a hassle free transfer start to our cruise.

    Vicki
