  1. Currently all cruise ships dock at the Port Rashid Cruise Terminal in Dubai. There are 3 terminal buildings however, terminal 1 is now the permenant home of the recently opened QE2 hotel so expect to be at either terminal 2 or 3 (they are beside each other).

Taxis are usually readily available at each terminal building whenever cruise ships are docked there.

There are two airports but all Emirates flights use Dubai International Airport - DXB. It depends on traffic and the time of day as to how long the ride from the port to the airport is. If you are catching one of the early morning flights back to the UK, then 20 minutes but later in the day maybe a little longer. All taxis are metered and the fare for a clear run between the two should be around Dhs.50 (approx £10)...

    Anne..

Anne, we are flying on Emirates into Dubai and intend to take a taxi to the port. We shall need to aquire some local currency for the taxi, are there ATM’s or money exchange facilities before we exit the airport and how do we ensure we get a reliable taxi to the port from the airport

Thank you for taking the time to respond

    Vicki

  2. Thank you for saying that. John, please keep posting and ignore the rude comments. More's the point mostly from people I have not seen here much before.

    Phil

    Totally agree, keep posting!

  3. Richard - thank you for making yourself available to us all on this forum - much appreciated. Thank you and your team, also, for helping us, personally, in the past, to sort out, with little fuss, when things have been tricky or complicated. We have benefitted from your team's expertise, support and kindness with a couple of cruises recently, and we should like you to know just how much we appreciate this service. Please could you reinforce, once again, to them, our appreciation for such great work.

You cannot please all of the people all of the time - I drink lots of tonic (without gin) and personally have enjoyed many tonics on Quest over many cruises.

Thanks again. SO looking forward to Cuba soon and then Pursuit's maiden

    David and Audrey, Scotland :cool::cool:

Although I am pleased you have enjoyed the tonic served onboard I would respectfully suggest this issue is one that resonates with a large number of Azamara clients

This can also be demonstrated by the long ongoing thread on this issue which to date has attracted over 8,000 views and 146 responses. Indeed there is far more traffic on this issue than the average topic which clearly highlights its importance

  4. Hi Richard,

It’s been a recurring topic on the Azamara board, is there any chance that the truly awful Royal Club tonic will be replaced with a decent one. Preferably Fever Tree but Schweppes would be an improvement.

I appreciate Gin is not that popular in the US but it’s a popular drink elsewhere and there’s no point in having a quality gin and adding Royal Club tonic.

If Coca Cola was replaced with Royal Club Cola there would be an outcry.

Can I wholeheartedly second this request to supply a decent brand of tonic. For a luxury line the offering of Royal Club as substandard as it gets. In fact we now think twice about upgrading our drinks package because the available mixers ruin any decent premium spirits.

I know other lines in the same market offer Fever Tree This request is a frequent subject on these boards

  5. Certainly sounds ambitious, entertainment isn’t top of the list for importance but we will be interested to have a look with an open mind. Of more interest to us will be the timing of the entertainment not being early diners it’s often impossible to enjoy a leisurely meal and get to see a show.

    We agree Carol and John

On Azamara we often have to make the choice of seeing the entertainment or opting to eat at our desired time which is 8pm or later. Maybe these options will provide a wider choice

  6. Seem to have a lot of cheerleaders for the fight to get a decent tonic. Thanks for all the advice. I think I defiantly need to take matters in my own hands and take my own tonic onboard.

We normally don't upgrade our drinks package but seeing as we have some OBC spare we may treat ourselves to the Ultimate package.

So as we are let's say inexperienced in these matters would welcome any suggestions of drinks or cocktails we could try that don't appear on the complimentary list but may be available to mix on the ultimate package inclusion list! Will promise to try all suggestions!!!!

    Vicki

  7. Can anyone help us find the options for upgrade costs and inclusions for the drink packages. I can find the dining options for the packages but not the drinks

    Thanks

    Vicki

  8. After a long flight to Singapore I'm finally here for the cruise. Nice couple of days, acclimitastion and out for food at the street market last night. Recommended. Singapore is a lovely city. Friendly and you feel comfortable.

Just wanted to give a heads up for something that started on JR last cruise and it's excellent I think. For those that have free minutes via LCV you can now get credit for them against an unlimited package if you purchase it so they aren't lost if you do buy a package. For example if you get 90 free minutes you'll get $90 off the package, 120 minutes you'll get $120 off, 150 minutes you'll get $150 off. Really great idea Azamara!

Sea day tomorrow and we cruise around Krakatoa on Christmas Day. Hope you have wrapped the presents!:)

    Hi Phil

Have a wonderful Christmas, I hope Santa visits the ship!

One question on the above, what is the cost of the unlimited package? I presume it's dependant on cruise length?

Looking forward to your posts of how Azamara celebrates the festive season

Give our fond regards to all

  9. Yes, last time we had an Indian visa it started on the day of application, so no good applying until 3 months before the end date of the cruise.

You can get 6month Indian visas from the UK at no extra cost

  10. Hello there Vicki, we hope you and Charlie are well. Fredy and I had a great day on the island and the snorkelling is great, you'll really enjoy it. The island is very small, it couldn't have taken us ten minutes to walk around it. I really can't imagine a resort having been built there.

Although everywhere has its charm, Male isn't the most interesting place we've been to. It has a fish market and mosque and not much more to see. On the occasion we were there, not the time we did Kuda Bandos with Azamara, everyone was back on the ship after about an hour and a half, less for many.

If you are tendered as we were in 2014, definitely take the free tender to the island, you'll love it.

    Jenni

Hi Jenni, lovely to hear from you and Fredy. It sounds like a perfect chill day for us. We shall definatly pack the snorkelling gear. Are you on this sailing?

Hope we meet again some day on the high seas!

    Love to you both

    Vicki

  11. You'll tender into Kuda Bandos. Beautiful spot. There is nothing there really infrastructure wise, but the ship will set up a bar. Officers vs crew football match on the beach there, Captain Jose centre, red shorts:cool:

    Hi Phil

Hope you had a great birthday yesterday

We are on this sailing and I was wondering if the island had its own reef? If so I may pack my snorkelling gear

  12. My comments aren't over the top. I'm only speaking from experience on these boards that I have never seen so many whiners and complainers as I have on here. It seems like everything Azamara does, people make a stink about. I go onboard and have a great time - most other people on here pout and act like little kids who aren't getting their way. Just a little strange to me. I don't care if there is Kibo or no Kibo, or tubs or showers, or what the loyalty program perks are. I think the itineraries are fun and the crew is great and I enjoy myself regardless. I'm sure a representative from the line will tell you that it's valuable feedback, not what they are really thinking.

For someone who purportedly doesn't care either way about the issues raised then why attack people who do care?

I agree your comments are over the top

    Vicki
