  1. I'm headed back to Indiana in the a.m. My bags are definitely not packed as carefully as when I came to Florida for cruise. Saved money as did no shopping while here. Last week I came down with a sinus infection and bronchitis. Still coughing but everything else is better and was able to go out for dinner with kids. Once home I'll need to press and launder for my Oct 24 cruise!

  2. TNGALOHA: Good idea for packing jewelry! I prefer my single baggies (think they're easier to pack and organize)...but anything that keeps jewelry arranged is good!

Thank you all for good wishes RE gum surgery. I hope to lose those 5 elusive pounds...and there's lots of yogurt on my grocery list:).

I would surely hit the malt shop! My mom always fixed them for us in her drugstore malt machine. Remember the green ones?

Sore throat, dental work, out came the malts. She even made her own chocolate sryup. We were spoiled. The five of us started "calling"for her malt maker! The only boy got it! My small town drugstore went out of business and sold me theirs, a 3 prong one. Tradition! And it looks great in my kitchen. So plainly speaking,i could gain not lose!!. Good luck.

  3. When I was on the Spirit last month they said they could only process two drinks per transaction on the UBP. That still shouldn't stop them being able to deal with 4 drinks on 4 cards, but you would probably have to sign a couple of receipts.

There were four of us two weeks ago on the Getaway. They always put our drinks on one bill, as long as they saw our cards. It's much more streamline for them= time saver.

  4. sunnydaygirl: Welcome Back and Thank You for the in-depth review of Press & Seal:). You have helped many CCFs who want to have jewelry that doesn't tangle.

I have used a pill dispenser for earrings many times and agree that it's a good way to pack small items.

Using the little zip bags for each outfit (and labeling each bag) has been the best packing solution for me recently.

And keeping notes of what worked on The Last Cruise is a good idea, too.:) Especially when you have two cruises close together:eek:

.My plan for Future Cruises: I WILL have DH take a photo of me in each outfit - with my phone. That way I will have a picture and can determine what works...at least that's what I'm hoping to do...but having that info in writing is a sure thing.

Good luck with the photos. You seem to do well with having them taken. Maybe I should just take a background and then photoshop me in in each outfit. Lol. Then I could take at home!!! Even bought brand new white shorts and left behind in Florida. Oh well. Wearing today as we take hubs to the airport!!

  5. My in depth review of press and seal!! Lol!! They traveled perfect. It was a little hard to separate the layers and the jewelry had a little stickiness when taken out. That disappeared tho. I would do it again for the one necklace I have that tangles no matter how I pack it, but probably not for the rest. My weekly pill dispenser worked great for small chains and most earrings. I was able to reuse it, tho it had a tear. And I didn't completely take it apart as didn't wear all the choices I took. As I do laundry I'm writing down what I wore so I can pack easily for cruise in October.

    I loved the ropes course!!

  6. Sunnydaygirl - Are iconcierge and the hub apps? Love, love your press n'seal idea with the longer necklaces! I can't wait to try it on our next cruise! I'm anxious to hear if it can be reused for the trip home! Have a wonderful time!

Cameras: I have an nice Olympus that I bring with camera bag & all. It's great for action shots and has a good telephoto lens. We also have a small waterproof olympus camera as well. Usually the phone is off & in the safe.

Yes they are apps. I love the Hub for $5 and ready to try iconcierge for $7. Apparently it works for inter ship messaging and phone calls!!

The app charges show up on your S&S account.

The press and seal solved so many problems for me!! I'll let you know if I'm able to re-use for my return trip.

On my way to the airport!!!

  7. CELTICGIRLCRUISER: Thank you for the info RE "Elle" black dress. It's always interesting to know the background of a label!;)

sunnydaygirl: I take most of the photos, too...so it's not always easy to get "fashion photos"! DH takes landscape & scenery mostly. He's in lots more pix since I tend to take more offbeat shots. We all like to see Outfit pictures, so hope you can get some!

QUESTION: We're fairly new to taking pictures with our iphones. Do you CCFs use a camera, phone or both? I'm thinking about using only my phone (and DH can use his) on The Next Cruise...

I take my my phone. I find the newer ones offer great editing software for correction and lighting. But I also have a small digital camera for mostly night pictures or even video.

  8. sunnydaygirl: The straps look really good - like they were always there:)!

And be sure to let us know how the jewelry survives. Are you taking press & seal wrap for the return or will the same stuff?

Don't you love it when the only items on the To Do List are Hair and Nails!;)

That toiletry bag(hanging)is from Vera Bradley outlet. $22. This will be its first outing!! My BFF has used them for years.

It's silly how excited I am about that Press and seal. I'm not packing new. Hopefully I'll be able to re-use. If not, I'll have time to un-tangle when I get back.

The straps I tried many different ways. I've got extra pens in case I decide to also pin to dress in front only.

I may do nails in the am, although I really like to wait until the last min. We'll see!!! This time I'll try to take more clothes pics. It's hard when you're the picture taker. I'm not often in then.

  9. I'm not on the Escape until Feb 6. I'm hoping all you smart people will come back here and answer some of the questions we've been talking about. The balcony size to name one. Is it just a double closet, to shows, food etc!! It'd be great if you did that so we won't have to go hunting your reviews. Or please post a link to your reviews here. Looking forward to all your insights.

  10. I can and do sew. I don't sew for cruises, but I attend a lot of black and white tie events, and I occasionally sew for those. It's mostly dresses or evening separates, and the patterns are typically Vogue, Vogue Vintage and/or vintage patterns purchased on Etsy or Ebay. I've also had some luck at flea markets and estate sales.

    Here is a recent find:

I am using a silk brocade that I ordered from an expat Brit who's lived in Hong Kong for several decades. His speciality is finding beautiful silk fabrics at far better prices than I could ever hope to pay in the UK. As for fabrics, I am a stickler for natural fibres, and I mostly use silk in various weaves including taffeta, charmeuse, satin, brocade, dupioni, organza, and very rarely silk chiffon (too slippy and tough to handle).

    That is gorgeous!!! Good luck.

  11. Since I leave one week from today I figured I'd better get my straps done. One is done. I like it but probably should made it a little wider. Material looks good. Guess I'll move forward with the second one tomorrow and see how it looks on. Most of our clothes are laid in the temporary packing room. It's hard to pack not knowing when I'll be back and what needs to be done at the house. Floor for new bathroom is suppose to be laid Monday. Then I have to scramble to get woodwork guy in so while I'm gone paint(who used to live here as a boy) paints ceiling and woodwork. I've already done walls. Then the plumber can finally come in to hook everything back up. It's exciting to have a daughter come back and live for a few months with her family. I've wanted to redo this bathroom for decades. Just the motivation my DH needed!!ImageUploadedByForums1440795686.565728.jpg.e621dbc4fe7b2fddd533edd33338966f.jpg

  12. I've been on the Breeze and the Freedom and the Breeze wins hands down. Revisiting her this fall before the escape. The lido restaurant was the only layout I was not fond of. The only crowds were on deck 5 at night when Matt the CD took over MC duties. And he's very popular, named new CD for new Vista. Trying Getaway in 2 weeks and think their ship is similar. Breeze has more optional food offerings than the Freedom class. Put me on a ship and I'm happy!!!

  13. sunnydaygirl: You are LOOKING GOOD! Fresh and airy:). Label $hopper is a store where I haven't had success. There's one near the Lake House. Maybe a little more time there would be fruitful...

I have heard of an allergy to eye makeup and even know a lady who has never had success with hair coloring (it always washes away after a couple days???!!)...so if I had to choose - an allergy to nail polish wouldn't be as bad as no eye makeup or gray hair:cool:!

Thanks!! I go in every few weeks. But then Walmart and goodwill are the only other stores in town!!

  14. Going out to dinner with my son and his fiancé. And hubby. Haven't worn this jacket before. A Label$ buy. I actually bought a sleeveless black tank with clear jewels in the neckline and black dress leggings of sorts. Think I like the more casual too!! Will be starting the prepacking this week. Sept 4 is fly away. ImageUploadedByForums1439671442.129405.jpg.adaa3b1213b5536cbd27d2ef66d08a06.jpg
