  1. I sure hope so. I have a new multi strand necklace with small to larger discs. It will not fit in straws. And it tangled really bad the one time I packed it. Hoping this works. And I'm pretty sure you can reuse. Just lay it somewhere safe while you wear it. Would hate for Steward to throw away.

  2. Family Vacation at the Lake House is over. "My" sunporch belonged to the 4 grandkids (and various children of niece and nephews). Shoes were lined up under the library table in the living room and a card table was set up in the dining room for the kids...and now all is back to The Two of Us.

We have never had better weather Every Single Day! It was an all-around perfect vacation with our immediate family of 10 and a total of 25.:)

So now I'm looking forward to The Next Cruise:cool:. With 117 days to go, it's MUCH too early to start The Process (even for a die-hard CCF! ;))...BUT the Cruise Room is a magnet pulling me in...so I will (once again) reorganize and go through every item within the next couple of weeks.

Many of us have talked about buying in consignment shops and resale stores, so I'm curious:

QUESTION: Do you shop in consignment shops and/or resale stores? If so, What percentage of your Cruise Clothes come from one of them?

My Answer: At least 50% of my clothes come from those kind of shops. Shoes and jewelry - no.

Sounds like my favorite thing! Family Fun.

A while back we talked about press and seal and jewelry. I have this long necklace that always comes apart opposite clasp no matter how I pack it. Hoping this helps!!ImageUploadedByForums1438709805.441685.jpg.d3b5252d902a82c3b2be2c28b5ed810e.jpg

  3. Hi! I've done this with strapless dresses a few times, and I'll share my experience. You can certainly take fabric, sew up two straps to suit you, and pin them to your bra. If you're taking all the trouble to actually sew straps, I will tell you the thing that worked the best in my experience was to create a strap that wraps around the bra strap utilizing snaps. I left a bit of fabric front and back so that it would drape just a tad lower than my bra strap so as to be firmly tucked under the top edge of the top. That is a cute dress and it does look like the jacket would just make you hot, btw.

Thank you. I've thought of that. I bought extra material so that may be an option. The bra I will use is bright green and I really won't be wearing with any other thing so I may just tac it down to save the steps of snaps. I did find a beautiful scarf that is like a watercolor with all the colors of the dress, with a little gold bling on the edges. I think it shocked how perfect a match it was. Having my company has slowed me down.

  4. The top of the dress is shirred elastic. When I tried it on it didn't move but I understand your point. Hoping to get some ideas this weekend from my sewing daughter. Heck maybe I can even talk her into it. Taught her everything I know, and then she googled it and now makes princess dresses to die for. Thanks ladies. Will let you know the outcome.

  5. Hi! Hoping one of you have done this. My new dress is strapless with the stretchy top. I bought it in spite of that and just intended to wear a wrap jacket the entire time. I've been convinced to make straps. Just in case I get too hot. So my plan is to take the material I bought and make a casing as wide as my bra strap, sew it to clear elastic stretching only a little to A give it some give and B make it blend into the top better. But because I can't slip them on the bra strap as its attached and I don't really want to sew them to the dress I'm thinking of tacking or pinning right to the bra. That way my bra strap will never peek out!! I also found a beautiful scarf for wrap. Do you think that'll work?

  6. Wow do you have a full plate! I'm so glad everything turned out ok for your sister! Can't wait to see how the straps turn out on that pretty dress!

I was able to take the picture with me(don't know why I didn't take the dress!!) And I found material. I think I'm going to make a casing and then slightly gather it with clear elastic to give it the look of the stretchy bodice. I have a green bra I may just pin it to the straps and I found a beautiful scarf that matches perfectly. That will be a cooler option than the jacket. So excited.

  7. If I wasnt desperately trying to heal this nasty plantar fasciitis in my left foot I promise I'd be running circles outside. I'm so excited I can't stand myself! This is our first NCL sailings and we're jumping all-in. I love Disney, it's forever ingrained in my soul.....but there's only so many times I can watch the same shows, eat the same foods, go to the same places, meet the same characters, etc etc. I'm beyond ecstatic to have a whole new world to research. So much we haven't done! Can't wait to drink it all in! <----and with the free UBP the hubby & I will be drinking en masse. Now to get caught up on all the lovely details about this amazing ship! I'm itchy for those here who are on the inaugural sailings to go, come back, and drown us in pictures, video, and glowing reviews!!!!

So sorry about your foot. My DH still wears his brace to bed at times but at 67 is training for a marathon so it does heal!!!! We have the free UBP and can't wait to experience this wonderful ship with a drink in hand. Had a pkg on the Celebrity Reflection and loved the freedom of wine tasting and drink tasting without worry of not liking and paying/drinking anyway!! Whoot Whoot for NCL!

  8. My older sister (by exactly 12 yrs) was taken to ER this am. A stranger called me on her phone. She's fine. Dehydrated and she's back home. But through a series of phone conversations with her daughter I discovered that she borrowed my camera to video tape her granddaughter that they are fund raising for a therapy dog. She even knew I was looking for it. We had some laughs over it!! All is right in my world. Now cruise docs, packing list, plaster dust, out of town visitors, anniversary, again Babysitting,a weekend visit to sons new apartment in Columbus Ohio, all before cruise on Sept 5. Good thing I don't have a job. I'm tired!!! Thank you all bunches for worrying with me.

My daughter is visiting next weekend. We will tackle the dress strap issue!!

  9. For my son's beach wedding I wore a strapless lined gauzy maxi in marine colours. It had an elasticated top. PROBLEMS, when I went up stairs I inadvertently stepped on dress hem, can you imagine what happened to the top???? Later I bent to have my photo with the seated bride and groom, and the photo was more revealing than expected. So I have cut some off hem and made firm straps. Hopefully no more incidents.

    Your dress looks lovely.

Oh my goodness!!! I hope you understand my laughing. That wedding will forever stand out for many reasons.

I think I'm going to try that.

  10. Thank you all for being kind to my forgetfulness. I want to share that as I got ready for bed I grabbed my PJ's off the foot of my bed I leaned over to step into them and noticed something peeking out under the blanket. I don't store things under my bed generally and I did look under from the sides with a light. You guess it. A very small bag with cruise stuff. ImageUploadedByForums1437710331.744482.jpg.27f734d5278e5803c35dbcf18f873161.jpg I do feel confident that we would have found it when doing a deep clean in a couple weeks.

I was so sure it was with camera, not an old bag of DH. He and I switched bags cause he flew home. I drove w/friends after a cruise. I don't even care about the camera. It will show itself sooner or later! WHEW!!!

  11. Sunnydaygirl: If it's on a hook is there possibly something hanging over it on the same hook? I have this lovely brown leather cross body purse that I just love. Couldn't find it anywhere in my closet. Several days later I took my bathrobe off the hook in the closet and there it was. Put away the handmade cribbage board my DBIL made us so our 3 year old grandson wouldn't use it as a bat. Now we can't find it. I hope you find your passport soon!

The outfit for your DGD is adorable! I bet it would look good on my DGD . . . .;)

Indian71: We just took a truckload of furniture to Son#2 so now I have my own Cruise/Travel room! You are my inspiration! I start work on it this weekend! Have to make a special place for my CCF Tiara!

My DH HATES to shop for clothes. I told him that for our trip to Hawaii he needed new shorts his reply was "Can't you just order me some?" The problem is he is 6'8" so has to try things on - not all shorts are the same length. I can order some things from Penny's and Crazy Shirts polos are long enough for him. Nicer clothes have to be tried on. Sigh, I see a trip to the Rockler store (tools) in my future

I bet you feel great getting a free room. I'm getting ready to welcome my daughter and her little family into our home for a few months. Excited to have a grandchild so close but will miss my empty rooms. TeeHee, I have clothes in a couple of closets!!

    Husbands must all be similar!!

Little girls outfit is from Walmart.

  12. I spent today going through closets and looking at each hook and hanger. Still no bag. Got my new shower installed today so one step closer to a full house clean once wall board is installed.

And I made sure I have the approved birth certificate. I may risk one cruise without passport but my sons wedding in Guatemala is another story. That's April 2. Maybe I should invite all my broke relatives in and offer a reward!!!

  13. I'm not giving up! Have come to the conclusion that it's in the outside Pickett of my camera case. Trouble is the camera is missing. I remember hanging it up to put it out of the way for construction. Then told hubby where. Now neither of us know!! I'm just shaking my head at this point!

  14. Cute DGD outfit! What purse did you take on the cruise? Does it have a zip pocket? Normally where I find stuff [emoji6]

I think I've looked in my carry ons and purse 4 times! I have a vague memory of hanging my large camera up on a hook. It might be in the case pocket. I told my husband where, but he doesn't even remember that much!!

I'm on a slow panic. I know it's somewhere. Used it to get off the ship! It'll show up. Have two fall cruises. Hope it's soon!!

  15. No progress on passport. I did find my small camera. New at Christmas. My big expensive camera is also missing. I've looked in cupboards, closets drawers over and over. I came back from last cruise to Florida and stayed four days. Changed luggage and completely re-packed. When I got home it was so cold, I'm reluctant to admit, I didn't unpack everything right away. Never again!! The shower is being installed 2 wks early on Thursday and drywall next Tuesday. Then the hunt will begin in earnest! I did find a little girls outfit is been looking for. My DGD will rock it!

  16. sunnydaygirl: Fingers are crossed that you find your passport quicklyicon14.gif ! Traveling isn't possible without it! It's one of those sinking feelings when you think you know where something important is kept...and it isn't there. Let us know when you find it.

Your bathroom/laundry room reno is making your house dusty now, but when it's complete, you will have an up-to-date brand new space.

Last week I sent our passports for renewal. They don't expire until October but we want to be sure the new ones are here for the November Cruise. It will be a relief when the new ones arrive (hopefully in 3-4 weeks.)

I had a date to meet DH for lunch today. Went out a little early...to stop at the Goodwill Store. Bonanza Time! 5 Cruise Worthy tops, 2 sweaters and 2 pairs of Capris AND a black and white dress suitable for Formal Night - all under $30;):).

Also found a cruise shirt for DH...but he won't get it until our pre-cruise dinner in November.

It's very sweet, cool, awesome, that you surprise him with his cruise things. My DH is very anti new clothes for himself. He's got 2 cruises with me and he'll say that what he took in Jan is good enough!!

I've sent an sos to dd in Naples. Maybe I left it there. Completely stumped.
