  1. If Carnival is smart, they will reduce the number of items for meal selections to expedite service. Then offer 3 dining times, rather than 2 to allow for distancing. 5pm/ 630pm/8pm. Should not be a problem as all the tables would not be used each seating. Now I know people are going to balk at not have a huge selection, it makes sense to expedite food and service.

As for menus, they should deliver each room a paper menu to each room, no later than 1pm. One side the menu, one side next day spa specials, art auctions and other advertisements. This for those of us that do not with to carry a phone.

  2. They will cancel 3 days after final payment, then make you wait 90 days for a refund. That is what has happened for the 6 cruises that have been cancelled. Because of these games, we are no longer rebooking for OBC.

  3. Earlier this year I was being Ms. Optimistic and booked 2 cruises on Carnival out of Galveston in March 2021. Spend 7 days on one ship, on arrival after first cruise, get right onto another ship. I know Galveston cruises are up in the air at this point.(as are all other cruises). My concern is that they start up following CDC guidelines where I will be unable to get a covid test between the 2 cruises. Any  thoughts of how Carnival might handle this? I'm a bit afraid that if cruises start up, Carnival will tell me "sorry Charlie". At this point (and I am sorry for saying this- yes I am being selfish), I'm hoping cruising holds off until June. I could see something being done with B2B's, but I am worried about my stupid move.

  4. When the pandemic started to get hot & heavy, we chose to cancel a trip which was two weeks out. Both my husband and myself were (are) considered high risk. Was not because we might catch it, we did not want to take the chance of being quarantined. Anyhow, at the time we were told we would lose our deposit, however the remaining fare could be used for another sailing if we rebooked within 30 days. Fair enough. We thought we would lose the whole caboodle.  We booked an 8 day sailing on the Radiance for Jan 2021, figuring everything would be back to normal. 3 days later, all cruises stopped. One week later, I got an e-mail stating they had moved my nonrefundable deposit amount had been placed on my new booking, and were were now eligible for the $600 OBC. I was dumbfounded and impressed. Now of course my sailing has changed to the Breeze, and they are giving me another $200 OBC.

That is if they are sailing in Jan.......

  5. I apologized in a different post, and I am sorry. I really did not mean to offend anyone about the free room. My post was not meant to piss anyone off. I was just excited. I understand  the waiting game for refunds. I had a 14 day on Holland cancelled because they sold my ship.

As to how I got the offer, I really do not know. I know when you cruise Carnival, Holland or Royal Caribbean, your offers are based on the number of points you accumulate.(amount of dollars you play through the machine....really does not matter how much you win or lose). We cruise Carnival the most, and I have never been offered a free room from them. Discounted, but never free. The offer came in an e-mail. If I knew how to screenshot, I would do so. I tend to look at all my cruise e-mails nowdays.

  6. It actually was a casino offer, and I do want to apologize  for posting about the free room. They might be reaching deep to get people booked. I was surprised to get the offer.

I do understand your frustrations. I am awaiting a refund from Holland America, where they sold the ship I was to travel on in November. I guess I should have read some of the forum posts before including the comment. I do aplogize.

  7. I understand the answers to my questions may change if/when we ever got to cruise again. I have my fingers crossed. I got an offer from Princess for a free stateroom in June 2021, so I booked one.

It has been a long time since I have cruised with Princess ( not since 2009). I know there is no smoking in rooms or balconies, but what else has changed?

What are people wearing in the dining rooms for non-formal night dinners?  Not what the dress code says, but what people really wear. Now the same question about formal nights.

Do they still offer warm cookies/milk in the afternoons?

Is there a smoking section in the casino on the Caribbean Princess? Is there still a cigar room?

    Is there trivia? Crafts? Movies?

How about a deli? A hamburger joint? I saw they have a hot dog area.

Again, I know if/when Cruising returns thins will be different. I do have hope though, that one day I will be back on a ship.

  8. Like many others, we too are impacted by cancellations due to the sale of the 4 ships, and also now the CDC extension of the no-sail order. I know right now when you call, you get a message saying "they cannot accommodate your call". Wondering how long I should wait before I try again. Part of our payment (paid in full) was FCC that we had to use by December22, 2020. (NA failed apizoids last year). I want to make sure the FCC gets extended, as we tried in good faith the use them within the specified time frame.

  9. If you are using your annual "complimentary" cruise, that will be extended. If it was one of the random offers, then no, you cannot reschedule because the offer codes have expired. I have already had 2 random offers cancelled, and will have 2 more when they hit this round. Clun Royal has stopped the offers fir now, and the representative I talked to said they would not be making anymore offers until cruising actually resumes.

  10. I did have a free cruise cancelled for July. No, they do not allow you to rebook as the offer code they applied to the original booking is no longer valid. They do refund port fees/ taxes /upgrades/extras. They will check to see if you have any other offers available, however they have really slowed down on the offers. ( That tells me they are really not confident they will be sailing soon. When I booked, I had a page full of offers, and now I only have my annual cruise listed.)

If you used a certificate to book, you need to tell them, and they will reissue with a new expiration date.

  11. Carnival has the worst muster drills. (and I do travel with other cruise lines). Some people do not close their traps to allow others to hear. Drinks are not collected. Heck, on our last cruise the Casino bar was still serving drinks as people were reporting to their stations. I have seen crewmembers installing the Hub on passenger's phones. We had a group of 30 people leave the outside muster because it was "too Hot" and not a single crew member said a word to them. Having only one person per cabin scan their card is also ridiculous.

There are ways to do muster without crowds. Disable tv remotes where you cannot change tv channels and have use remote to interactivity state they watched the video, and they understand. (can be done in multi[le languages). Then make people take their life vests to a location to prove they know how to put it on, then go to muster station and swipe their cards.  Disable cards one hour prior to sailing. That gives people anywhere from 3-4 hours prior to sailing to accomplish their muster. Before the heavy drinking starts.

By doing something like the above, Carnival would not have to shut down services. Smart individuals would do thier 3 step muster when they got on the ship, and not be interrupted with their fun. I know a limited amount of cruisers never buy anything. So first day, require folks to swipe their cards before dining in all venues. No drill, no eat until they complete the tasks.

  12. Last year the Ultra was way different. Instead of spinning a wheel for you big prize, you were assigned a time, and you went to a lounge for drinks, and chose an envelope out of a barrel. Instead of hanging around the casino for 2 hours waiting for your namw to be called. Very low key. Took about 20 minutes tops. Prizes really lower quality. Yes, there were the iPhone and iPad, but gone was the TV's, and the specialty watches. ( They did have the Apple watches though). Most of the prizes were free play. I will say, it is difficult to earn your "tier points" when you get large amounts of free play.

Drawings for Ultra players were really reduced, and gone are the Snowball raffles. Prizes for the games have been reduced.
