  1. Everyone's travel needs are different and while I would also get a passport for an 88 year old sailing with me I wasn't about to get them for a family of 7 for a 4 day cruise. Fortunately people have choices.
  2. Then it's clear that they should have enforced it since most people would agree that the word is profane and sexual in nature.
  3. Do they have a specific rule about this? They might have a generic rule about not wearing clothing that is offensive but what is offensive to one person is not offensive to another and that wonderful 4 letter word is so ingrained in our society that it can no longer be said to be universally offensive. I would hope that if some boor had the audacity to wear a shirt with a clear racist message that it would be dealt with, or if they wore a shirt with the 4 letter word followed by a class of persons, but the cruise ship is a reflection of the society we live in and there are all kinds of people in our society and some of them don't have any class.
  4. If your license says "enhanced" and has a US flag then you may cruise on a closed loop cruise with that, provided your cruise line doesn't require something more. If it doesn't have those two features then what you have is a REAL ID compliant license and you would need your birth certificate in addition to board a closed loop cruise. Two months is sufficient time to renew a passport, but I don't think that I would unless other travel plans required it (and I do have an EDL issued by Vermont which I have used for cruising and land border crossings).
  5. My comment was made tongue in cheek. Since "children" was in quotation marks I inferred that the OP was referring to adults acting like children. Our society is much more foul mouthed then it used to be and there is no right to be free of foul language uttered by others.
  6. Um, it's ok in the comedy club but no where else?
  7. We'll probably be doing some for DW's daycare cruise next year. We've also seen them on every cruise. I remember one family wore green t-shirts and the boarding photo was taken in front of a green screen, so their picture was all disembodied heads.
  8. Yep, they won't have all of the coffee stations open, so one has to walk around to find the one(s) that is/are. Look for a station with carafes of milk or cream, a sure indication that the station is open.
  9. We just got off the Glory a few weeks ago and the chat feature was very much improved, so I'm optimistic that it's trending in the right direction.
  10. In honor of my mother since we celebrate them Sunday she used to put mustard on pancakes. She got me to try it once. It was good, but not good enough that I've made a habit of it. Next time I get the chance I'll try fries with mustard.
  11. I guess that I am firmly in the second camp. None of the changes discussed in this or in other threads as adversely affected our cruise experience at all, so we don't worry about it. The things that are missing aren't what makes Carnival special to us.
  12. But sometimes there is truth in the bad information. I don't think that a large percentage of people like mushrooms to begin with and if a lot of the mushrooms put out on the toppings bar went to waste I can absolutely see them removing the option. Again, Carnival is privy to a ton of data that we aren't and they take all of this data into account when making a decision (or not, but then we don't know that for certain either),
  13. If it doesn't have alcohol in it then it doesn't count.
  14. We're booked on a southern Caribbean itinerary out of San Juan on Celebrity for 2025. We sailed a similar itinerary on Carnival.
  15. I expect what I've always expected and you've articulated that- a good value and a good product. The changes that have been made don't change that in any significant way.
  16. There's a far cry between "pointing out things they could do better" and complaining about each and every small change. Carnival has decided, based on information that they have and that we don't, that a change is needed. A lot of things impact these decisions, again, things known to Carnival but not to us. Taking for instance, the mushroom issue noted above. It is entirely possible that the folks manning Guy's noted that 90% of the mushrooms they put out during the day go unused (and this example is completely made up, I have no idea what drove the decision to eliminate them). If that is so then it would make perfect sense for Carnival to eliminate them since they aren't that popular. Yes, to those who love shrooms (and I am in the camp) that's going to be a change for the "worst", but based on the data available to Carnival it's the best decision overall. At the end of the day what matters most is that Carnival still is a good value and a good product.
  17. Sure, one can focus on the all of the changes, or one can focus on the overall experience and in the last three cruises (with one just recently completed) the overall experience has been good to great. Has everything been the exact same as it was when we first cruised on Carnival in 2012? Nope. But then what is the same anywhere as it was in 2012? One can focus on what was lost or one can focus on what one still has. Carnival is still the Fun Ships.
  18. Just means that I haven't noticed their absence in 3 cruises.
  19. We enjoy cruising and the more options onboard the better. We know that if we wanted the "real" thing vis a vis entertainment that we could travel to a place known for it, but we've no desire for that at all. The shows don't last that long and even if we are tired from being in port it's still possible to see the show without a large investment in time or energy. One of the pleasures of cruising is being as busy or not busy as we feel like in the moment.
  20. I've never had an issue with the fries, they've always been tasty. I didn't even notice whether or not mushrooms were on the toppings bar or not a few weeks ago.
  21. It sounded to me like they were planning to renew but recognize the possibility that the passports might not return in time for the cruise, so they are getting their contingency plan in place. I could be wrong.
  22. Thank you for providing more details, OP. One would certainly hope that a manicurist has a duty of care not to cut the customer with the clippers, and that is the basic definition of negligence, so using that term is certainly valid. The sticking point is what is the cruise line obligated to offer for the injury. As has been pointed out due to the contract language unless the injury is really serious pursuing the matter any further is likely pointless because the contract language favors the cruise line so much. So you are left with their offer. They might be willing to negotiate on the terms of this offer and as I suggested before you might be able to get them to extend the time period for using the FCC. You also might be able to get them to just issue a refund as has been suggested (but that is probably an uphill battle. As a lawyer once told me during negotiations the money is a different kind of green.). But if they don't budge in their position you have to be prepared to just let it go.
  23. I never said that it applied to all childless couples. I said "and I've known couples who have decided not to have kids...", which means that it pertained only to the couples that I've known.
  24. Possibly, but in our conversations their focus was entirely on how much they saved and what they could do with it.
  25. I know that for Naturalization Certificates you can only have one, no spares allowed. I thought the same thing applied to CRBAs but I haven't looked into that very much (the last time I looked they were $150).
