  1. I would agree, but that doesn't matter because there are always bad apples in every profession. I think that police reports routinely contain lists of potential suspects if they are identifiable.
  2. I think the point was victim shaming is still victim shaming regardless of the crime. As for everyone else's comments regarding when and where this could have happened, while that is true the fact remains that the attempted fraud did occur and the OP needs a police report for the credit card company, so at the end of the day it could have been the Professor in the Library with a Candlestick and it doesn't matter.
  3. When we cruised in November when we wanted something we bought it. Our bar bill was $1300. It's Cheers from now on.
  4. That's what made us look at Princess. When you factor in what they include with Princess+ versus what one pays on Carnival (if one buys all of those things, of course) then Princess works out to be about $300 more. We're willing to pay that much more to try a different line. (And I did double check with DW, we will not be paying the asking price for a bottle. She's happy using the wine we're allowed to bring on.)
  5. Princess offers the same thing, the base fare or a slightly higher price with several things included (drink pkg, wifi, etc.). And if you are paying a couple hundred dollars it certainly isn't free ("included" is the better word to use).
  6. Could be. Only time will tell. I haven't been tracking alcohol prices but figured they were going up along with everything else and Carnival was adjusting for prior hikes and planning for future ones but if that isn't the case it isn't. We have Cheers and even at the somewhat higher prices will get our use out of it.
  7. Inflation sucks, that's for sure (plus they are probably trying to encourage folks not to purchase in the first place). I'll have to ask DW if she can make do with carried on wine and beer from Funshops.
  8. I personally don't do much drinking ashore. We tend to make up the port days on sea days so Cheers averages out.
  9. The coffee shop offers several spiked coffees on their menu, all of which have different ingredients and all of which were quite tasty. You can certainly ask for a shot, but the menu coffees are better than just having a shot in the coffee.
  10. When money was tighter I used to buy Cruise Cash in the last few months leading up to the cruise in order to ensure we had the money to spend onboard. You are limited to $500 of each type. Cruise Cash Bar is good for any bar purchase, which includes souvenir glasses, but it has to be a bar purchase so the Cruise Cash gives one more options.
  11. To be fair all passengers are limited to 15 alcoholic drinks per day. As mentioned specialty coffees are included (both spiked and non-spiked), milkshakes, bottled water, etc. so you could do 4 alcoholic drinks per day and a couple of specialty coffees and a milkshake to round out the day and still break even. Also remember to factor in time in port in your calculations.
  12. I knew I should have qualified that statement. Some have, some haven't.
  13. I am not seeing it. Graduated roll out I guess.
  14. Yep, sounds just like DW (except for her it is balconies). 🙂 ETA: If we were given a free Inside cabin from somewhere she would make me upgrade it to a balcony.
  15. True that. They still have time to add it to the site before the 1st of December is in the rearview mirror. We don't sail until April so we have time.
  16. Excellent point right here. I would also wait until after the cruise to change the name, or make sure that the cruise is booked for 2 months after the ceremony to allow ample time for processing.
  17. I just checked and it's still not available. Sign into your account and click on manage your cruise. In the upper left corner, right below the Carnival logo, it says Categories. Click on it and then select In Room Food and Beverages. There will be a submenu that comes up and when liquor is available it would appear there. You can make this purchase up to 48 hours before departure.
  18. What is incomprehensible is why you are worried about this at all. The previous poster made it clear that they are more concerned about the quality of their experience and they are willing to pay for it. That should end the issue. Yes, other cruise lines have nicer perks etc. for their suites, but that also comes at a price. I doubt you'd be sailing in one of those suites for $2800 for two people. I could just as easily say the same thing about booking a balcony cabin as the PP did about a suite, DW will not sail in an inside at all under any circumstances, even if it meant that we could cruise every month instead of once a year.
  19. It's not just Carnival, it is many in the hospitality industry. Service charge and gratuity are used interchangeably. I remember when I first cruised I read the cruise line's FAQ and it said that tipping wasn't necessary. What I missed was the next paragraph that said a service charge would be added daily. The good thing was we were on a 2 night cruise to nowhere so the added expense was manageable but back then 7 days worth for two people would have pinched quite a bit.
  20. The cruise lines haven't progressed to the point where they have eBoarding passes like the airlines. On our last flight at least half of the passengers were using the electronic version on their phone. I don't trust tech that much and had a paper copy.
  21. This is very true. Even the boarding pass can be printed out in the terminal (which did happen on our last cruise, the printout wasn't clear enough to scan. We were in a suite, but the new boarding pass didn't reflect that, so the people directing passengers in the terminal tried to direct us to the regular line. Of course they didn't have access to the system which did show that we were supposed to be in the priority lane but they did allow us to proceed.). Many ports require you to present your boarding pass and identification documents in order to proceed into the terminal so it's prudent to have that printed out, but I'm sure they have a system in place for folk who show up without one.
  22. It is still best to have a back up, especially if the back up is readily available. I have certainly read threads on CC where someone lost their passport on the way to the port and others where bags were stolen containing the documents.
  23. You're on your honeymoon, all you need is each other. In February I left a full carry-on on the bed. Fortunately it only had my meds and some clothes in it. I was able to pick up some of the meds OTC and of course a new carry-on bag at the port city before the cruise. Congratulations!
  24. Our suite in April is $2800 (to book it now it would be $3800). We normally book balconies but suites aren't too much by comparison. But if we wanted to book only suites it would take a bit more budgeting.
