  1. The coffee shop offers several spiked coffees on their menu, all of which have different ingredients and all of which were quite tasty. You can certainly ask for a shot, but the menu coffees are better than just having a shot in the coffee.
  2. When money was tighter I used to buy Cruise Cash in the last few months leading up to the cruise in order to ensure we had the money to spend onboard. You are limited to $500 of each type. Cruise Cash Bar is good for any bar purchase, which includes souvenir glasses, but it has to be a bar purchase so the Cruise Cash gives one more options.
  3. To be fair all passengers are limited to 15 alcoholic drinks per day. As mentioned specialty coffees are included (both spiked and non-spiked), milkshakes, bottled water, etc. so you could do 4 alcoholic drinks per day and a couple of specialty coffees and a milkshake to round out the day and still break even. Also remember to factor in time in port in your calculations.
  4. I knew I should have qualified that statement. Some have, some haven't.
  5. I am not seeing it. Graduated roll out I guess.
  6. Yep, sounds just like DW (except for her it is balconies). 🙂 ETA: If we were given a free Inside cabin from somewhere she would make me upgrade it to a balcony.
  7. True that. They still have time to add it to the site before the 1st of December is in the rearview mirror. We don't sail until April so we have time.
  8. Excellent point right here. I would also wait until after the cruise to change the name, or make sure that the cruise is booked for 2 months after the ceremony to allow ample time for processing.
  9. I just checked and it's still not available. Sign into your account and click on manage your cruise. In the upper left corner, right below the Carnival logo, it says Categories. Click on it and then select In Room Food and Beverages. There will be a submenu that comes up and when liquor is available it would appear there. You can make this purchase up to 48 hours before departure.
  10. What is incomprehensible is why you are worried about this at all. The previous poster made it clear that they are more concerned about the quality of their experience and they are willing to pay for it. That should end the issue. Yes, other cruise lines have nicer perks etc. for their suites, but that also comes at a price. I doubt you'd be sailing in one of those suites for $2800 for two people. I could just as easily say the same thing about booking a balcony cabin as the PP did about a suite, DW will not sail in an inside at all under any circumstances, even if it meant that we could cruise every month instead of once a year.
  11. It's not just Carnival, it is many in the hospitality industry. Service charge and gratuity are used interchangeably. I remember when I first cruised I read the cruise line's FAQ and it said that tipping wasn't necessary. What I missed was the next paragraph that said a service charge would be added daily. The good thing was we were on a 2 night cruise to nowhere so the added expense was manageable but back then 7 days worth for two people would have pinched quite a bit.
  12. The cruise lines haven't progressed to the point where they have eBoarding passes like the airlines. On our last flight at least half of the passengers were using the electronic version on their phone. I don't trust tech that much and had a paper copy.
  13. This is very true. Even the boarding pass can be printed out in the terminal (which did happen on our last cruise, the printout wasn't clear enough to scan. We were in a suite, but the new boarding pass didn't reflect that, so the people directing passengers in the terminal tried to direct us to the regular line. Of course they didn't have access to the system which did show that we were supposed to be in the priority lane but they did allow us to proceed.). Many ports require you to present your boarding pass and identification documents in order to proceed into the terminal so it's prudent to have that printed out, but I'm sure they have a system in place for folk who show up without one.
  14. It is still best to have a back up, especially if the back up is readily available. I have certainly read threads on CC where someone lost their passport on the way to the port and others where bags were stolen containing the documents.
  15. You're on your honeymoon, all you need is each other. In February I left a full carry-on on the bed. Fortunately it only had my meds and some clothes in it. I was able to pick up some of the meds OTC and of course a new carry-on bag at the port city before the cruise. Congratulations!
  16. Our suite in April is $2800 (to book it now it would be $3800). We normally book balconies but suites aren't too much by comparison. But if we wanted to book only suites it would take a bit more budgeting.
  17. On our last cruise I left one of our carry on bags on the bed and we didn't realized until we checked into the pre-flight hotel. Once we arrived at the port city we made a stop at Walmart to buy what we needed (including a new carry on bag).
  18. And if you notice a sewer smell in your cabin try pouring a glass of water down the drain under the toilet. Chances are the trap has dried out. I've only sailed in one handicap accessible cabin and obviously this may not apply to every accessible cabin on every ship on every cruise line but it did not have a raised threshold in either the shower or the door (and the bathroom floor and cabin floor were the same level). Water that got onto the bathroom floor did get onto the carpet in the cabin. One of the main reasons we don't book guaranteed cabins, to avoid being assigned to another accessible one. (And it is a personal cruise tradition of mine to stub my toe at least once per cruise on the doorsill.)
  19. My office has been paperless for years now but I'm still not at a point where I want to travel paperless (of course I mean papers that have to be printed out, which seems to be the OP's main concern). Some things still need hard copies such as passports and drivers licenses and proof of citizenship. When COVID vaccine proof was needed for the cruise we took last November it needed to be the original document as well. I like having backups for things if they are available at no/low cost and printing things out fits that definition (as well as having pictures on the phone).
  20. DW likes to have several drinks before turning in and this is the easiest way to achieve that. We could have made do with wine (there are 5 of us going) or with beer purchased pre-cruise but she does like her rum.
  21. We're sailing in April and it's not there yet for us. I suspect it will be after Dec 1st since that is the date that is mentioned.
  22. One could leave the curtain open and in essence extend the shower to the entire bathroom. I know how DW would react so I won't personally attempt it.
  23. For us a lot depends on how often we can cruise. We can cruise about once every year-year and a half and a balcony fits into the budget nicely at that frequency. If we were only able to cruise every 3 to 4 years then we'd probably splurge and get a suite each time (we are sailing in a suite in April but we are celebrating a milestone anniversary so we are splurging). If we could sail several times per year then we'd likely have to choose an ocean view or inside in order to be able to afford it. When I first went to sea it was in a very large inside "cabin" with a lot of room mates, so I'm not as particular as DW is as long as I'm at sea.
  24. My shower at home is 38" by 38" and the showers on the ship are slightly less than that, 30x30 sounds about right. I used to take a tape measure with me on cruises to measure different features but never thought to measure the shower.
