Oceanview Cafe dinner service being eliminated?

It does appear that while dinner at the buffet won't be outright eliminated but greatly scaled back, someone posted this on the Edge thread -
Pre-purchase of Photo package no longer available...

Photographers and therefore photo packages are reportedly going away. This has been touched on in a few other threads -
Yes. Land based casinos code credit cards withdrawals as cash advances where the casino may or may not charge their own fee but your credit card will charge you cash advance fees. On cruise lines, they may or may not charge you a room charge fee but that goes directly to the cruise line. Room charge transactions are added to your on board account which will be coded as travel (not cash advances)

It's a two-headed monster. If you turn them off, you are not paying the behind the scene crew often who are paid the lowest. Yet many believe each cruise line "skims" some of the tips to keep for themselves. Simply sharing two factual datapoints, tipping is a personal choice, has been debated for 50 years and will most likely continue to be debated for at least another 50 years -
To confirm, you've gone into your sailing, selected the dining button then changed from the "restaurants" tab to "main dining" tab? If it's NOT there check weekly; usually things start to get finalized the week before but there could still be some tweaks. My August sailings have the Blu menus populated, total crap shoot if it's there

100% agree it's misleading but at least they're not flat out lying by calling it Wagyu (without the -style) which was a common practice a decade ago
-
"Prime" is very common at steakhouses and is rarely mislabeled with the exception being "prime rib". Wagyu is far more uncommon and is often mislabeled; at Craft Social they call their sliders "Wagyu-style" which is accurately labeled

In the last 6 months I have cruises on X out of San Diego, San Pedro, FLL and Miami, usually arrive 1130-1230 (Miami was 130), never a line to get onto the terminal, to check in or board the ship. Only line I’ve encountered is security but usually just a few minutes at most. San Pedro seems to only use one X-ray machine

Hang out at the seating by guest services the last night. Someone charged like 3 coffees to my room so I went to guest services at 5pm on the last night. Overheard three people in front of me and one behind me request to remove the auto gratitudes -

No limits, was just on the new years sailing and was told they were 100% booked but 50 did not show most likely due to flight disruption -
in all fairness, I only had it on the edge in July 2021. There does seem to be a steady decline in the food quality

Perhaps you’re confusing “prime” with “Wagyu”? Prime isn’t all that expensive, costco and Sam’s club sell it about $20/lb Costco now even has American wagyu which is better than prime but not as good as Australian or Japanese wagyu. The certified part is to certify a angus breed. Steaks won’t be as good as Ruth Chris but are overall really good and would be the best steak you can get on the ship

"No Complimentary Lobster" is already trademarked in the cruise industry...It's called NCL...lol

Okay...So how do you stop the breakfast and lunch food waste that's apparently important to you? As individuals, only real choice we have is which cruise line/ship to book...If we do not pick LNG, we are intentionally not making a difference -

Cruise ships (and the shipping industry as a whole) are incredibly dirty; many book SVs in the E-Class to avoid the IV in favor of a real balcony but are disappointed by the amount of soot. If you want to be green then food waste, turning off your stateroom lights, re-using towels and conserving water are all mere drops in the bucket. The largest impact you can make is to cruise on ships that use LNG which is clean burning. We have to remember the larger ships will last up to 30-50 years (may be sold off by the cruise line). A cruise large ship can use up to 250 tons. Per day. In terms of regular gasoline, that would be about 80,645 gallons or more fuel than you'll use in an entire lifetime of driving cars. It's also dirty to procure crude, refine it to diesel and to transport it around during all stages https://www.colorado.edu/mechanical/2016/07/25/how-much-fuel-does-cruise-ship-use -
To simplify it, one card per membership reward account and all authorized user cards are linked to the same membership reward account. Or to put it another way, assuming the offer is added, whichever AMEX card you use first is the only card that will receive with the offer If you have two different AMEX cards and therefore two different membership reward accounts, then they will both receive the offer

Live in Luxury: Solstice 1/2 - 1/7 Cabo & Ensenada Cruise
NutsAboutGolf replied to ACorgan's topic in Celebrity Cruises
Could you do us a huge favor, visit the buffet during dinner time (I think it's open until 930 ship time) and take some pix to post (at your convenience, go another night if that's better for you)? Someone claims to be on the Solstice and that the buffet dinner selection is minimal and we're just trying to determine what that looks like. I was just on her and just about all stations were open -
Good catch...My WAG (Wild A$$ Guess) is the first is free, extra charge for more than one
