  1. Will take more than a RS fee to keep us away from sailing...lol. We do a Mexican AI once a year in Playa Del Carmen which is only 15mins from downtown where you have some great restaurants and entertainment. The resort does offer food (its bad, though) drinks, live music, shows and they're often right on a beach with free loungers. We also book regular land hotels for short weekend trips. All three have their pros and cons yet if you're comparing a Mexican AI to a sailing, the AI would be a far less expensive experience
  2. Because everything is in the app, there's fewer people taking pics of the dailies, myself included. Was recently on her When in Europe shows are 730 and 930, they were all musicals with good props and visuals and one comedy music show Didn't notice ballroom dancing Club was used for dancing but also other activities like trivia Live music was in the atrium, sunset bar and the Eden Average age, I'd guess 50ish
  3. Staffing issues are nothing like they were a year ago plus they have all those extra staff now that they cut the dinner buffet. We have to remember, every room service order that replaces dinner actually saves labor due to not needing a M'D, asst M'D, bread deliverer, water refiller, sommelier, waiter, asst waiter, buser, etc Like the lobster tail fee, charge a fee when the stateroom order more than once a day
  4. Continues on the downward trend of cruise lines chipping away at anything that adds value to the passenger; its the same in many other industries but the cruise lines biggest competitor, hotels, have overall remained the same
  5. And who knows, they could expand the menu...A lot of people don't know, someone else told us, you can call RS and order off the MDR for dinner which I would imagine is much more appealing than the RS menu
  6. They did allow you order off the MDR (on the beyond it was the classics only, not the rotational) yet I was trying to get any kind of steak other than the classic sirloin on a night it wasn't on the MDR menu...Was told no, on multiple occasions every time Who knows, maybe you can still request and receive the desserts
  7. It's been confirmed by multiple sources that it will be moved from the every night Classic dessert section to rotational dessert section. If it remains on the room service menu (some guess it will be removed) perhaps you can get it in the MDR by requesting it I learned from a neighboring table at Blu that if there's a dish you like that night you can ask that they hold one for you so you can have it at dinner tomorrow. Otherwise, every other "off menu" dish Blu/MDR request I have made (I have asked for a filet, prime rib or ribeye on a night its not on the menu) has been denied, this includes requesting an off menu steak a day or two in advance...lol
  8. Sure but they found a way to make it work for decades without a nearly $12 fee
  9. Valid and they can go on here or other sites to learn about the fee. However, how many passengers would research or check the app pre-sailing? Clearly not 100% so there will be some who know about the fee until they're on board. Our first time in AQ, we didn't look at the menu in the app nor did we research the RS menu. For us, the expanded RS menu was the least valued AQ benefit even when it didn't have a fee
  10. Also it can be incredibly windy
  11. Probably an attorney question, does a drink PACKAGE qualify as a drink as far as the U.K. law was concerned?
  12. To clarify, once they’re on board they open the RS menu and this could the first time they see the fee
  13. And adds disappointment when you get on board only to discover there's a fee for this expanded menu and for repeat cruisers, they may not even know this fee exists
  14. On the Summit sailing in August, neither cake appear in the MDR classics desserts but both do appear in room service
  15. What's the point of an expanded menu if there's still a fee? It should be noted that when dining in Blu (AQ or higher) their $16.95 additional lobster tail fee is waved
  16. At the moment, they all have the same fee. IMO, since AQ has an expanded menu they should eliminate the fee
  17. Outstanding. You can obviously save more the more sailings you have
  18. We haven't had any other issues. If one cares, the best course of action is ask them as I would imagine simply written special requests could be ignored. I used to write to return the button down shirts on hangers, after several never getting them back on hanger I stopped writing it
  19. Totally agree. Such a random time to do this, makes you wonder what's next on the chopping block
  20. Something to keep in mind is, if someone has never had authentic NY, there's a chance they may not like it. I personally prefer the best thing around which means when in Chicago I'm not going to seek out NY pizza and when in NY I'm not going to seek out Chicago deep dish pizza. With that being said, here in LA we have just about every type of pizza you can get often made by people who grew up in NYC, Chicago, Detroit, Italy, etc who can produce a pizza that's 90% as good as the original. Some shops even import local water to help it taste more authentic
  21. Another unknown, if you request it on a night its not offered, is there a good chance you'll get it (rhetorical)?
  22. BUY IT NOW, cancel for a full refund later if you decide to. Today is the last day you buy it during this sales event and you can always cancel it for a for a full refund before the sailing
  23. Yup and my WAG (Wild A$$ Guess) is its corporate, not the individuals, who are peddling this non-sense. During a recent Beyond Senior(?) Officer event in the Eden, someone was inquiring the purpose of IVs, the Officer stated there's a 20% fuel savings and the "fact" that only 27% of X staterooms ever open their traditional balcony doors on a sailing. That was followed up by something like "how did you obtain the balcony data for this, are there sensors in the sliding doors?", officer responded now looking defeated "no sensors, that's just what corporates tells us". I've personally been on X sailings for 113 nights since the restart, exclusively in a balcony room (regular-AQ), I have never received a survey asking if I opened my balcony door
  24. Friend aboard the Beyond spoke to a M'D who unfortunately confirmed this rumor is true. In a kick ya while you're down with "greenwashing", they cited the reason was to "eliminate food waste". Disingenuous response as these cakes are refrigerated, there are so many other more effective things they can do if they truly cared about food waste
  25. Not worth the calories however the Eden cake (lunch hours) is surprisingly good...I was excited for the Eden's cookies as I wrongly assuming they were using the same recipe as 2021 so my cookie disappointment was surprised to discover the cake was one of the best things I've ate on that sailing. Also on that sailing someone told me the buffet cupcakes were much better than usual cake so I tried cupcakes and slices of (buffet) cake, a vanilla and a chocolate of each...Unfortunately, I contributed to food waste as after one bite of each it was clear, the cake and cupcake recipes are the same and there isn't even huge difference between their chocolate and vanilla...Perhaps it's the same recipe and they throw in some cocoa or something
