I have been scratching my head on this until finding your instruction. Do I need to request for each pax or per cabin? How many tags will they send for each request online? TIA.

They’re issued by stateroom, not by guest. Eight luggage tags will be mailed.

Yes. Summit will sail from Boston instead of Cape Liberty next year. I hope she’s back in Cape Liberty in 2021. We had intended to book a cruise on her in 2020, if we could drive to the port.

Summit will continue to sail from Cape Liberty on a variety of itineraries from 9 May until 2 August 2020.  The 2 August cruise will visit a few ports in Canada, Greenland and Iceland before ending in Dublin with a return cruise--also visiting a few ports in Canada, Greenland and Iceland--on 16 August 2020 before ending in Boston on 30 August 2020.  Summit will then do four twelve night Canada/New England cruises--round-trip Boston--with the last of the four departing on 5 October and ending on 17 October.  The deployment thereafter has not yet been published but, if past is predictive, one might expect that Summit will return to San Juan for the Caribbean season thereafter.

might be of interest to someone that Celebrity does cruises from Dublin instead of Southampton.

Not many cruise lines can say that and flights to and from Dublin are good.

Actually, Celebrity's Transatlantic cruises later this month will end in either Southampton [Edge and Silhouette] or Dublin [Reflection].  Edge will do one subsequent sailing to the Iberian Peninsula from Southampton before changing origin port to places like Rome and Barcelona during the remainder of this year's Europe season.  Best I can tell, Silhouette will home port in Southampton for all of this year's Europe season.

Following the Transatlantic,  Reflection will home port in Dublin for the first part of this year's Europe season.

Goes to show how every cruise is a bit different....We found the deck areas much busier on Reflection than on other S class ships but service at the Sunset bar excellent....

So pleased you are enjoying your cruise, we loved lunchtime dining at the Porch...

I'm confident that service will soon return to Celebrity's usual/consistent high standards but for now--with the introduction of Edge about four months ago--I expect that they are going through growing pains fleet-wide...  They have recently hired a significant number of new crew members in all job categories for all ships who are still "learning the ropes" under the guidance of experienced crew members who have transferred between ships--including Edge--so as to maintain a constructive "hands on" training environment.

Although Reflection holds 800 more people than Equinox, this cruise seems to be no more crowded.

    -----

Assuming that each stateroom is occupied by two people--some travel solo, other cabins are occupied by more than two--Equinox accommodates 2850 guests and Reflection accommodates 3046 guests [+ 196 guests].

On Equinox [as well as on Solstice, Eclipse and Silhouette], the pool is located on Deck 12 with Oceanview Café on Deck 14 Aft.  On Reflection, the pool was relocated to Deck 14 with the Oceanview Café adjacent on the same level; most of the increased guest capacity resulted from the addition of staterooms on Deck 12 in the expanse occupied by the outdoor pool area on the earlier Solstice-Class ships.

  6. Long time/frequent Celebrity cruiser but, other than occasional "fill a bag" offers, have never seen an unlimited laundry option.

Might you be thinking of Holland America?  Based upon my reading, I believe that they offer a prepaid "unlimited laundry" package.

FWIW - Celebrity only has a concierge that escorts you on/off for Suite and Concierge class (if they even do that for CC anymore) "Regular" cabins, even with high Captain's Club status and oriorirty boarding,  etc do not have a concierge escort, or private lounge to wait, etc.  And the lounge to await disembarkation on Celebrity is often a ways from where the actual disembarkation spot is also, frequently the theater for the "masses" versus Michael's Club or some spot closer to midship.

Along with Suite [but not Concierge Class] guests Celebrity also provides priority luggage handling on embarkation day and disembarkation day, escorted priority embarkation from the terminal to Michael's Club or The Retreat Lounge, and escorted priority disembarkation from Michael's Club or The Retreat Lounge to those who--regardless of cabin category--are Zenith members in their Captain's Club...

  8. Casino play—at least initially—is not cashless...  Your SeaPass Card will be used to track play but not fund play (though tournament entry fees and advances—generally at a fee—can be charged to your onboard account via SeaPass) or to collect winnings...

As is true at land-based casinos, slot machines use cash and/or vouchers; table games use cash and/or chips...  A cashier is available to redeem vouchers/chips into cash...

Regardless of ship location, all casino transactions are conducted in US currency...

; a coupleAt one time all Zeniths were invited to a Zenith ceremony for a new Zenith. Now the new Zenith must request who is invited.

While perhaps an aberration, the practice of inviting all Zenith members [ten upon embarkation] to the induction ceremony for new Zenith members [two; a couple] was still alive and well on Edge as recently as two weeks ago...

  11. As others have mentioned, Refundable Onboard Credit provided through a Travel Agent cannot be used for pre-cruise purchases and will not show up in one's account until aboard following confirmation of payment or a corresponding reduction in the agency's sales commissions...  Similarly--if a Travel Agent has provided prepaid gratuities--an amount equivalent to those gratuities is posted to one's onboard account as Refundable Onboard Credit upon confirmation of payment or commission reduction by Celebrity...

Similarly for other perks provided through a Travel Agent--like a Beverage Package--Celebrity will not reflect the benefit in Cruise Planner until such time as the Travel Agent has--one way or the other--paid for it....  Sometimes that doesn't happen until just prior to sailing date...

While a Travel Agent's billing may enumerate those agency-promised perks at booking [keeping in mind that sometimes they're really being provided by the cruise line as a booking promotion to all who qualify regardless of booking source]; an agency's bill--while perhaps helpful in resolving errors with shoreside accounting once aboard if differences occur--is not binding upon the cruise line if the agent has somehow forgotten to pay for a perk [or perks] that is/are truly being provided through and paid by the agency...  Not implying that such mistakes are frequent but they have been known to happen...

Never had a problem getting a wake up call on Celebrity. Just follow the prompts.  If you want to cancel it you need to call guest relations.

I don't think it's true on Millennium-Class but you may cancel a wake up call on Solstice-Class and Edge--without contacting Guest Relations--by pressing the wake-up call button and following the prompts...  If you have a previously scheduled wake-up call, the system will recognize it and ask if you want to cancel it...

National Bus for 23 pounds or taxi for 150 + tip...… Hot hard to decide.

Perhaps…  But the cost differential reduces significantly [and may be totally offset] based upon the number of passengers sharing a private transfer [it may cost £150 for a taxi but the car service I've engaged is ~ 25% lower before gratuity] and the car service is door-to-door, dock to one's airline terminal at Heathrow [not the airport's central bus terminal], without needing to incur a taxi fare from the dock to the Southampton bus terminal or to jockey luggage in Southampton and at Heathrow...

National Express does a fine/reliable job but busses are often booked to capacity and not all routes are express between Southampton Bus Terminal and Heathrow Central Bus Terminal...  Depending upon scheduling, the trip can evolve into something of an odyssey...

I could use some advice.  We are on the 8/11-8/25 Silhouette Ireland/Iceland Cruise.  We are trying to find flights (boy are they expensive!) and we found an affordable one that leaves on 8/25 at 1:00 PM from LHR.  Has anyone had good luck with being the first off the ship at 6 AM (carrying our luggage), going through customs, having a car waiting and gotten to LHR (approximately 1 hour commute on a Sunday) in time?

With respect I just looked at your itinerary and, while your plans are likely doable, you may be somewhat optimistic in your timings and in "the cushion" you are anticipating...

    • Silhouette is not scheduled to arrive at Southampton until 6:00 AM...  For a variety of reasons she may be a bit earlier, she may be exactly on time, or she might be a bit late but--in any case--no guests will be permitted to disembark--including those who do the unassisted walk-off with luggage [always popular/can be crowded]--until the ship has docked, been cleared by local authorities, and the gangways have been placed...  Those processes could easily take 30 to 45 minutes once the ship is dockside...
    • Depending upon your itinerary, it is possible that you will not need to clear British Immigration/Customs until you get to Heathrow [they may instead bring agents aboard--in your case--at Belfast--for clearance prior to arrival in Southampton]..
    • Perhaps you've already done so but, if not, I'd phone the airline you're considering using to confirm their recommended lead time for check-in/security/getting to the gate...  Many flights from Heathrow to The US--there may be exceptions; Heathrow is not always a quick/easy airport to navigate and is always crowded [keep in mind that many international flights arrive early morning] suggest a three hour lead time...
    • The distance between Southampton Cruise Port to Heathrow is 65/70 miles with much--but not all--of the distance via motorway…  That said the roads near the airport are most always congested; I would not expect the transfer to take less that 75 or 90 minutes...  Actually, my longest transfer ever [not normative but possible]--also early on a Sunday morning--took nearly three hours after encountering a serious auto accident on the motorway...
    • I am disembarking Celebrity Edge's inaugural Transatlantic on Monday, 13 May, and like Northern Aurora [Hi, G!] ; have also booked a transfer using Smiths For Airports [have been very pleased with their service in the past].  With an 8:00 AM pick-up at the dock [versus a 5:00 AM arrival time; I'd considered trying to get an earlier flight but thought it just too close], they are projecting arrival at Heathrow at 10:00 AM for my 2:15 PM flight...

I've done Ireland twice and Iceland once with Celebrity; you are in for a treat!  Enjoy!

Does anyone who traveled recently on the Edge know what happens for the Elite Cocktail event each evening or the morning breakfast?

    Thanks

Just returned from Edge on Sunday, 17 March...

On my cruise, the morning Captain's Club Coffee Lounge was held from 8:00 AM until 10:00 AM [no change in hours on sea versus port days] at the Tuscan Restaurant [Deck 3 Aft; one of the four main dining rooms].

The Captain's Club Cocktail Hour was held nightly--excluding embarkation day--from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at The Club [Deck 4].  Eligible Elite, Elite + and Zenith Guests could alternatively order unlimited complimentary drinks--from the same Captain's Club menu--at any bar/lounge during the same hours by presenting one's SeaPass Card.

Honestly, if someone has time to come and greet us or escort us off it's nice but if we've been around long enough to be Zenith I think we might know where to go and what to do.

I certainly don't need the navigational assistance of an escort to disembark a Celebrity ship--as of Sunday, including Edge--but there can be significant advantage to using Priority Disembarkation via Michael's Club or The Retreat Lounge if one needs to be among the first off as I did on Sunday [I live locally and have a standing 9:30 AM volunteer commitment every other week].  If time is not of the essence--whether disembarking domestically or internationally--I don't use it...

Perhaps you've never had occasion to use it but, if the Priority Disembarkation process works well--it usually does, Edge was a mess--it couldn't be quicker/easier/more convenient.

    • Bags associated with those guests eligible for expedited ship departure are tagged/picked up the night before and are the first to be delivered to the terminal.
    • In the morning, the Michael's Club Concierge escorts those who need to depart early out a back door to Deck 5 and to final security scan/the gangway a few minutes before the unassisted walk-off group [with luggage] starts to disembark.
    • All told the first departure group has checked out, has luggage in hand, has cleared Immigration/Customs [new facial recognition at Terminal 25 at Port Everglades is promising] and--in my experience, I used it when disembarking Silhouette in November--out the terminal door in five to seven minutes.

If the new ships have 600 or so Suite Guests there will never be a concierge available to escort each one on or off the ship.   Perhaps they should provide this to a more limited number of passengers in the higher end suites.

Not all suite/Zenith guests disembark at the same time, not all avail themselves of Priority Disembarkation via Michael’s Club or The Retreat, and escorts tend to assist groups seeking a relatively common time of departure...

Yesterday, my supposedly expedited departure group from Edge numbered about forty guests with one escort in two elevators (which are a good bit larger than on other X ships).  The process works like a charm on M-Class and S-Class given that Michael’s Club is located on Deck 5; out a back door to the open deck and a very brief walk to Security.  On Edge, The Retreat Lounge meeting point is located far forward on Deck 15 with the gangway midship on Deck 5 via multiple and rather circuitous queues...

I’ll be back aboard Edge for next month’s Transatlantic, now that I know how it works—or doesn’t—doubt I’ll attempt escorted disembark from Edge again unless they relocate the meeting point from The Retreat Lounge to someplace like Blu (Deck 5 with access to the open deck/proximity to the gangway; same orientation as Michael’s Club on other ships) would, to my mind, work perfectly with far less mess for eligible guests/far less effort by crew while preserving the concept in a far more sensible way...

Actually Suite/Zenith disembarkation on Edge last week was a disappointment !!!

Guests escorted from the Retreat Lounge down the front elevator.

Then guided back to the one exit point. Guests from "The Club" mixed in.

At the one exit point there were HUNDREDS of passengers trying to get off.

Retreat concierge just said "bye" !!!

Crowding was so bad I got separated from my wife by several people.

No priority in the terminal for Suites/Zenith.

They were using a new facial recognition system.

My line shut down because it could not id one passenger.

Terminal 25 has 4 gangways. They only used one for the entire ship.

They could have dedicated one for the 600+ suite guests.....

Apparently Celebrity learned nothing from your priority disembarkation experience last week, Tommy...  I disembarked Edge via the Retreat Lounge yesterday--it was a forty five minute ordeal [it would have been fine if I'd known to expect but, based upon experience on other Celebrity ships, I had a car service booked with what was--I thought--very generous lead time]...  I could have written your comments...

Upon boarding on 10 March, Zenith members--there were twelve of us in total, some may have been occupying suites--had not been included on the Priority Luggage Drop-Off or Priority Boarding Lists either...  Upon discussing this--and asking a related loyalty question--with a member of The Retreat Lounge Concierge Team, it was clear to me that she was clueless--and worse, disinterested if not a suite guest [she kept telling me "Edge is different"; I'll say!]--in the context of instruction received pre-cruise from the Shoreside Concierge...

  19. In-transit ships—like Equinox—dock right in the heart of Old San Juan; couldn’t be any more convenient...

Cruises originating/ending in San Juan—like Celebrity Summit at this time of year—use the Pan American Pier (a mile or so away visually)...

  20. Perhaps you are correct but I don’t recall the standard room service menu being as extensive as you suggest...

On Celebrity, you can order room service from the MDR menu—at lunch on sea days, at dinner every night—during MDR operating hours...  Might that be what you are recalling?
