We are UK resident new-to-Seabourn cruisers off to the Norwegian Fjords in the summer. Have read with interest the posts on referral coupons on this site and think I almost understand the system. So, does anyone have a coupon which we could use/share? Would at least help those of us who have to otherwise use the puny £ sterling!

I have a referral coupon that I can let you have. email me at linda.newton@talk21.com if you would like to use it. when do you travel?

I have recently booked our first cruise with Saga, through a TA, I was asked if there were any dietary requirements, so I would think that they do cater to your needs if you let them know.

Thank you for the report, I really enjoyed the read. Looking forward to our first Hebridean cruise in March. Hope the weather is kind, particularly the seas.

Just wondering if you have been told yet whether we are going through the old or new canal?
Also do you or anyone else have any idea what the weather is likely to be going down the columbian and equator coast after the hot steamy Cartagena and Panama. Just wondering if some warmer clothes will be necessary? Lima says 20c and cloudy but its generally cooler out at sea?
I did a check on a long range weather website yesterday, just wondering what to pack. the results were Cartagena 32C, Panama Canal 30C, Salaverry 22C, Lima 21C I could not find the parks. But some large variance in temperatures. It seemed to show cloud, sun and rain most days. I take it from that I will just need to pack layers, and a waterproof. Well the weather won't spoil it for us. Getting very close now 😊

RockyandMoose, it must be an amazing ship for you to be on-board again so soon.
We join in Cartagena and travel to Lima, then we are on the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu tour. Just sorting out all our packing. We are so excited about being on this new ship.

Holy Roller and Towel-animal
We will also be on-board from Cartagena to Lima.
I really appreciate all the details from Rocky moose, it has made the anticipation even more exciting. Hopefully the little niggles will be ironed out, but we won't mind the small stuff. Looking forward to it all.

Goorawin,
I have really enjoyed your comments and pics around the ship. Hopefully things can only get better for you. Your input has been greatly appreciated as we have had little info from Scenic, please do continue to let us know your thoughts, and I do hope that you enjoy your holiday.

I have looked at the website to try to find details of the submarine and helicopter trips, does anyone know where to find them please?
I was hoping to pre book these excursions.

Hi LN50,
Are you on the Miami to Lima cruise on Scenic departing 29th October?
We are on the Cartagena leg of the cruise, we join on 30th October. Sooo looking forward to it.

Looking forward to further reports on the ship, we sail, hopefully, at the end of October.

We were on the Odyssey in Nov 12 from Athens to Dubai, we did not have to arrange any visas ourselves. we are from the Uk. It was an interesting trip, Petra in Jordan is a must see, all trips we arranged with Seabourn on this cruise.

Its probably just me but this is a real first world topic and funny in an saturday night live way

The on board shop sells shampoo and conditioner if anyone is desperate.

Isn't it great that tastes differ? I thought the TK Grill was a huge disappointment [emoji846]
I'm going to give it a second chance but if the experience is the same, I'm not going back. Service was rushed. I still had the last spoon of soup in my mouth when the bowl was already pulled and the main course put down. They had me out the door in just under 70 minutes.
As for the food, the Boston Clam Chowder only had large chunks of raw potato in it; there was no fish to be found anywhere. The Dover sole was by far the worst Dover sole I have ever been served; they clearly don't know how to make this dish. On top of that it was totally drowned in a thick, calorie rich sauce.
I guess next time I should try the veal, lamb or steak. Perhaps they are better with meat dishes.
Totally agree with this comment, we were so disappointed that we cancelled our second booking. The clam chowder had 3 bits of potato and 3 bits of what I thought was belly pork, very strange, it was so heavily overdone with wine, we were told that 3 bottles of white wine was reduced to make the soup. Why?
My OH had the Dover sole, it was served as 4 fillets laid on top of each other and then drowned in a very heavy sauce. If you do not enjoy the taste of fish then go for it; but if you would like to taste the fish then ask for the sauce on the side.

Thanks for all the replies, I suspect that SWTC is more of a fair weather thing to do. I did wonder about Montevideo as some one said the markets were great.
We have had fun times with SWTC both in the Med and Norway. :)

Chairsin,
Are there any ports on this trip where Shopping with the chef is available? I suspect not.
Many thanks

We have usually booked Seabourn air I have always found it to be cheaper than I can book myself and they arrange the transfers etc. Occasionally We have had to have a forced overnightin a hotel which effectively was a freebie.:)

Oh too cute!!!
Thank you -- if I did sound down ( and really it was just a matter of a bad cold combined with the enforced inactivity of the sea days) I really did not feel that way. We are just docking in BA now and I have to say we really do think this was our best Seabourn cruise ever. When I return home in a few days I will post some final thoughts. For now I am glad that I brought back some nice memories to those who have done this trip, increased the excitement level for those about to embark on this trip and maybe spur those who have not yet booked to do so.
Many thanks Chairsin, this has helped sort out packing for our up coming trip, it did not look as if it was too cold in Antartica, we have 0 degrees at the moment, yet I have purchased many layers of thermals. Oh well I will be prepared.
-
Chairsin, many thanks for your reports, we are doing similar on quest on 2nd February so have really enjoyed your insights.

Many thanks, it seems to be only for US card holders.:(

Thank you to everyone for the replies and pictures. I am certainly looking forward to lunch at the patio grill all wrapped up to keep warm.
We sailed the Norwegian Fjords and everyone else was inside as we sat on deck wrapped in blankets to enjoy the views. Brrrrrrr :):D
-
Is this just for US customers?
-
Hopefully someone who has done this area will let us know. We are also sailing this route in February and it would be good to know if the MDR will be available for lunch.
Otherwise it will be a crush in the buffet area, as presumably outdoor eating is not an option.
