  1. Hey, we're heading to Nice too for the same cruise.

Alas it's not to be, my TA just informed me that short segment was canceled.

Want to meet up in Nice?

Hi I have just seen this we are still in Nice we had a call from our ta just as we arrived at Nice airport. As you can imagine We were not happy. Oh well we have made the best of things we are staying at the Negresco until Saturday morning. Then back home. Happy to meet of it suits you.

It must be aweful for the company and all the staff. Hope seadream 1 is back in operation very soon. The spare parts must be a pain to find.

  2. We were informed yesterday by our TA that Seadream 1 would be sailing today. We are travelling tomorrow to Nice and hope to board for the taster cruise on Wednesday.

I am keeping everything crossed, I really don't want to spend the time just in Nice.

  3. Yes, please do a review. Shut-ins like Jim and I live vicariously through the SD board.

I myself look forward to one day stepping out into the wide world again, when my knee heals. Alas for poor Jim though, with his eyes constantly infused with home-made tequila, the pain from bright light may keep him a shut-in forever :(

I will certainly try, assuming that we sail, just don't want to get to Nice then be told that we cannot sail.

We leave on Sunday and the whole point of the trip was to try Seadream, not to meander around southern France. Will be in touch with TA again today. :(

  4. As of a few minutes ago, Vessel Traffic showed SDI dockside in Naples at what appears to be a passenger terminal. There is a Destination listed as Amalfi but no departure time shown. I speculate that they would not pay for dockage at a passenger terminal unless embarkation was anticipated. Lots of cheaper remote dockage for repair work. I am sure your TA will keep up to the latest info. You should have a nicely repaired ship with a well rested crew for your voyage. Have fun and be sure to let us "stay at homes" know how it goes. :D

Will do. We are so looking forward to it. Just hope it happens.

    The signs are good.

  5. We are supposed to be on the sampler cruise on the 12th, I was advised yesterday that they hope to sail this weekend. I suspect it is a charter, as when we booked, (after seeing Mr Ho Hum on tv) there was not a sailing listed for this weekend.

My TA (yes we used the one on tv) has been checking daily but has not yet had any guarantee of a sailing, we travel to Nice on Sunday so need to know before then.

I will advise when we have any confirmation.

  6. Really enjoyed the review, a good insight as to what we can expect.

I am hoping that things are sorted on SD1 for us to board on our taster cruise on 12th. First time on Seadream, but have loved the smaller yachts of Seabourn.

How delightful to be invited to a crew wedding, hopefully the liver will survive in full working order. Have fun. :)

Any other tips for first timers? I see somewhere that we are able to shop with the chef, do we need to book in advance?

Are we able to have caviar on room service? We sometimes do on Seabourn as a pre dinner appetiser. Is it a pay for extra, if available?

  7. From MarineTraffic.Com data it sure looks like SD1 has been up, out and about the Bay of Naples the past few days here and there. She is now docked at a different location in the port in Naples. Let's all hope this is like when the patient is up and about walking the hospital corridor after successful surgery! We all continue to wish our many friends at SD the best and look forward to joining them all again soon. Please pass on any additional information the more knowledgeable here pick up.

That sounds like good news. Thank you for sharing.

  8. Does anyone know how much in advance these cruises have been cancelled?

I ask as we have booked on a very short taster cruise on 12th October, however we are travelling to Nice for a few days beforehand.

If the cruise is cancelled then we would not want to go to Nice and would have to cancel that as well. Luckily booked as a package with the TA so hopefully would be covered for cancellation. The whole object of the trip was to try the Seadream experience.

  9. We are also sailing on the Spirit 14 day exotic Caribbean in Feb. It will be our farewell to the Spirit as we cannot travel later.

I would appreciate a copy of the complimentary wine list if it is not too much trouble.

my email; is linda dot newton at talk21 dot com replacing the 'dot' and 'at'.

Thank you. Also have you any idea who the CD, hotel manager, captain and exec chef will be? not sure how long ago you sailed.

  10. Great news. I am sure you will love it.

We sailed our first Seabourn to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. The only problem is that you get hooked and other cruise lines are just no where near the same after the Seabourn experience.

Our first trip was on Spirit and we are looking forward to sailing on her as our final trip on Spirit in Feb 2015. Will miss these little ships. :)

    Enjoy your planning :)

  11. Leesre - my mother and sister are taking their first Seabourn cruise in November, Barcelona to Cape Town. How would they go about getting a referral voucher for onboard credit? They have booked through an agency in the UK.. Thanks.

    Hi Longton

I could let your mother and sister have a coupon for a referral, one per cabin. if you still need them. email me at linda dot newton at talk 21 dot com

  12. We are planning to book our first Seabourn Cruises tomorrow if our cabin is type is available.... how or who would we go to get a referral credit? Thanks in advance...new to Seabourn and this thread but looking forward to it :)

Hi rayjames I could let you have coupon send me your email and I will forward details. Use dot and at so it is less obvious. It is not combinable if you qualify for interline discounts. But I am not sure quite what these are, I think it is travel industry or forces discounts.. Perhaps someone can enlighten me.

  13. The suites are all the same size. The ocean view has a very large picture window. We find that we spend most of our time on deck so it is not a problem. Also as it is port intensive you will only miss out on breakfast on balcony.

I would suggest that TA gives you a large discount or on board spend for you to compensate for the problem, but otherwise do not worry.

  14. Both my hsband and I have an open booking but I have forgotten how it works.

Is it a standard discount from the advertised price or does it depend on length of cruise and grade of cabin booked ? Also does this work even if the cruise is on a late offer?

    Can anyone enlighten me.
