  1. We had one of the end DOS (1BR/1BA) on the Dawn.

They are priced relatively "low" from the start, because they do not have a balcony.

(But some of the family suites on Deck 12 also don't have a balcony - although some do.)

    The space was amazing.

(We had a toddler visiting throughout the cruise, and he was able to run around the LR to his heart's content.

We also had a Pack N Play placed in the BR, in case he needed a nap while parents were still visiting with us.)

And we absolutely LOVED that view :)

We had one of the inside ones (12500) it was great having the two bathrooms, but I really liked the one next door, 12502, the wrap around window was amazing. When we originally booked the balcony the price per person in the DOS was around $3100. I hope that someday we can cruise in a DOS end suite!!

  2. I cruise on the Dawn and they do not have a haven. We have paid for full price for suites on 4 of our cruises (SC twice, SD once and SJ once).

When we booked our last cruise, the suites prices were crazy high $2600 pp for an SJ. That was $1000pp more than we had paid in the past. So we booked a balcony, which I would have been very happy with.....Then I got the Upsell offer. I did and upsell to a SD and was happy with that, then I noticed that there was a DOS still available a couple of days before the cruise and we did a 2nd upsell to the DOS. ($1000 total to upsell from the balcony). I don't understand the pricing on the DAWN. We are currently booked for Oct 21 in a balcony, if we get an upsell offer, we may take it, but we are cruising with 20 friends (none of them are in a suite) It wont be as much fun checking in with out them, so a balcony will be fine for this next cruise (plus all the suites seem to be sold out for our date).

  3. Chichen Itza is incredible, we went there while on a land vacation in Cancun.

On our cruise last month we went on a NCL excursion to Lamanai in Belize. It was also very good, not as "incredible" as Chichen Itza, but still very cool!! It was a long day, a bus to a boat, lots of walking, back on the boat to lunch (which was vey good) and bus back to the ship. I think it was a 7-8 hour trip.

  4. Isn't this an unusual time to be doing drydock on the DAWN? Right in the middle of prime Bermuda season!!!! They should have done it a few months ago.

It was originally scheduled for May 8. It was postponed so NCL added a 10 day NOLA to the Western Caribbean cruise (we were on it :))

  5. Yay!! My bet is on a 5 o'clock somewhere bar. Although it seems there's more and more chatter that it'll be a wine bar. Boooo! Gimme beer or gimme tequila.

I am hoping for 5 o'clock somewhere bar too!!

  6. Just heard from someone working on the refurb. Pearly kings will still be a bar...the Mexican rest will be deck 12 port side aft. It will be where the crew usually eat in the garden cafe

  7. Last I heard it was supposed to be a wine bar.

We were on the last cruise before the refurbishment, we were two different things, LOL, one being a wine bar, the other being a "5 O'clock Somewhere" bar...

Hey I'm from Quincy but have moved to Whitman! Looks like you have been on the Dawn a lot! We've done two of the repo cruises back up to Boston and met Chips Ahoy there and then we saw him again on the Breakaway. Do you know if he is still there?

You are right down route 18!!

I haven't done a repo yet, waiting on the Boston to Nola, Nov 2017 to post, then we are booking that one!! We are booked Boston to Bermuda for this October with 20 friends, I cant wait!!

I don't know where Chips is these days. I asked the Pearly Kings bartender in May and he said he hasn't heard from him in a while. I wish he would come back to the DAWN!!

  9. That's interesting. In March 2014 on BA they had the three options and when we went in Dec. 2015 on Spirit the certificate listed LaCucina, LeBistro, and Moderno (which there isn't one on the Spirit).

When we were on the DAWN in Nov 2015 the choices were LaCucina, LeBistro and Moderno then on our past cruise (May 8) it was just LaCucina and LeBistro.

  10. Sorry, I know laughing at a marriage that didn't work out is not nice at all ... but that made me laugh out loud!! Not sure how to thank someone when it is based on their heartbreak.. :):rolleyes::eek:

Don't worry, we both can laugh about it now. We lived together for 10 years, got married (cause it seemed like the next step) and we were both miserable!!

  11. Lots of great information which I am taking screenshots of! :D

We will be going in Feb and the Dawn will have had her make-over!

This is our first time on the NCL and the first time not booking a suite. We booked a mid-ship Balcony room through the NLC website. Does anyone have experience whether they will offer us an upgrade for consideration?

Loving all the tips and questions! Keep 'em coming!

    Thanks!

If they ship has a lot of unsold suites available, they offer upsells starting at about a month out. We had booked a balcony, did an upsell to a family suite with balcony for $800, then a week before the cruise we did an additional upsell to the Deluxe Owners Suite for $200 more.

We are cruising on the Dawn again in October. We booked a family suite without a balcony, doesn't look like there will be many upsells, the suites are all sold out at this time.

  12. Is there a limit to the number of guests you can have that are not sailing? And what venue would they use if it were a large wedding?

I got married on the NCL Majesty in 2005, things may be different now, we had about 20 non sailing guests. The wedding and pictures were beautiful, the marriage not so much, LOL!!

    Good luck!!
