  1. I have been offered an upsell from a Balcony room into a Haven Front Facing Penthouse. Of course for a significant price.

If I choose to accept, do I keep my current promo items, or do I get all 4 promo items for a Haven suite. Should my gratuities for the beverage package and for the dining package be refunded, as they are not charged to Haven guests?

I had prepaid my regular gratuities, and also taken travel insurance. Would these things also be impacted.

From what I am told , they simply want $1600, but I keep my current stuff.

Is this how it is supposed to work?

I upselled from balcony to family suite on the Dawn, kept the 2 promos that came with my original booking, didn't get the extra ones and the gratuities on the drink and food pkgs were not refunded....I had purchased travel ins through NCL and that was increased. (I had also prepaid my gratuities and was not charged the different in cost).

  2. I ended up calling NCL directly and they were incredibly helpful. It was an error on their part. They said at the most I should just owe the difference, not the full 18% all over again. For the trouble it caused, they just wiped the balance completely. Go NCL!

The supervisor at NCL said my TA had hung up with her before she could tell him the $199 I owed was an error.

Thanks for helping assure me that an extra $199 was as crazy as I thought it was.

I am glad it was resolved!!

  3. Hi, Dawn docks at the Dockyard, not in town!! I do not think any ships dock in Hamilton any more.........There's always the Ferry or bus........Nice. We prefer the Ferry!

Have a great cruise. We may be going Oct 16 or Oct 23rd, we'll see. Just trying to find out if the weather is warmer Oct 16 and maybe less rain?

HAL still docks in Hamilton. They have 2 Boston to Bermuda cruises next month.

  4. I wish the Dawn Bermuda prices would go down. I've kept an eagle eye out for dropped prices, but they've actually gone UP significantly in the past month or so.

I booked the DAWN October 21-28 in a SJ, (booked June 2015) the prices has gone up $400pp. And most of the suites are sold out for that week!! I don't think the Dawn prices will be going down this Boston to Bermuda season, they are losing a month due to the refurbish and the cabins seem to be selling!!

I am on the May 8 DAWN cruise out of NOLA, was able to upsell from a balcony to SD (10 day cruise) for about the same that I paid for the SJ in October. (7 day cruise)

  5. So, I read the forums quite a bit and I am wondering about the folks that say when they get to the cruise terminal they are offered an upgrade at no cost. I am interested in knowing if this happens quite a bit on cruises that aren't fully booked, or if it is just BS? I can certainly understand NCL seeing a nice couple walk up to get their room keys for their balcony cabin and a supervisor saying "we would like to set you up in a mini-suite", but I just didn't think it really happened. Do these upgrades really take place, and is there any reason for them that anyone knows of?

    Thanks!

Its never happened to me or anyone I know!!

  6. Hi! We are sailing on the Getaway May 29th. Does anyone have any thoughts or feedback about using private excursions vs NCL excursions? We have booked the following through the ship:

Roatan Bay: Maya Key Private Island

Belize: Cave tubing and rainforest trek

Costa Maya: Chacchoben Beach (with ruins and a beach)

    Nothing booked for Cozumel yet.

We like swimming, the beach and snorkeling, but need a place to sit out of the sun.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

We have been to Maya Key twice and love it there!! Have fun.

We have been to Nachi Cocum once and it was very nice.

  7. I've been on both ships. We personally like the Breakaway better, but enjoyed the Dawn as well. We are a young couple that enjoys staying up late, lively crowds, etc.. I just felt like the Breakaway was much more lively than the Dawn, had more energy I guess you could say. So it's hard to say which ship YOU should pick, it really all depends what kind of cruise you're looking for. In our experience, Dawn = a bit older, laid back crowd. Breakaway = a bit younger, party type atmosphere. Either way, you'll have a great time. ENJOY :D

Byran, are you saying we are old and boring? Lolol. Just kidding!!

  8. We absolutely loved the Jade Suite on the Dawn!!

I'm so glad my video was able to keep you excited until you were able to see it with your own eyes in real time. :)

We have a 2 bedroom suite booked for our upcoming Breakaway cruise in July. I'm sure I will be making a video of that suite as well.

    Thanks for watching!!

I still love to watch it!! Looking forward to seeing your Breakaway video too!! Thanks, and keep them coming!!

  9. I have cruised on Carnival a couple times, but am looking at a NCL cruise during spring break next year. One of my favorite things to do on the cruise is go to the comedy clubs. Does NCL have these? In particular the Dawn? If not, do they have comedy at all? Thanks!

They do have comedians, not every cruise, though. Second City has a couple of shows, they can be hit or miss, they were a riot on our last cruise and not so funny on some of them.

They have some very funny shows, Not So Newlywed Show, The Perfect Couple, Dancing with the Dawn Stars and The Quest (adult scavenger hunt).
