  1. The current promo is a $50 shore excursion credit PER CABIN for each of four ports (Bermuda is handled differently), not per person. (It's not a totally free excursion, it's a credit.) Do you have some sort of different promo?

As for booking on line v. calling, the terms and conditions for the current promo say that you have to call to book or book on board, BUT this has been discussed at length on another thread (link below), and NCL might be allowing people to book on line. Personally, unless and until NCL makes that clear in writing, I would not take the chance of jeopardizing application of the credit by booking on line. But again, what promo do you have?

How is it handled on Bermuda cruises? We are cruising in October, and I have the excursion credit....

  2. Pathubia, I love the family suite. I think you have been in it too before? The space is fantastic and if they fixed the windows, you are going to be good to go. I love that big huge bathroom. We will be in an SE which is our first time in one of those, so you can always come see us and we will share our balcony with you. As long as you don't mind me using your bathtub. ;)

Yes, we have been in the family with balcony (12020) and without (12032). We haven't been in an SE, I may have to come hang out on your balcony, LOL!! Thanks for the offer!! And yes, you can use our bathtub!! :)

  3. Ship - Dawn

    Deck - 12

    Stateroom # - 12500

Stateroom Category – Deluxe Owners Suite

    Starboard or Port Side- Forward

Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) – Very very quiet. Did feel a vibration when the ship left port.

Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - No.

Balcony View (Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue) - No balcony

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - N/A.

Any specific problems with this cabin? - none. Near the end of hall so very low traffic and noise concerns.

Any other comments? - The windows fogged up a bit. This was the last cruise before the refurbishment. Hopefully the windows will be replaced. Best concierge and butler (Hanno and Dominic)!!

  4. Pathubia, how did you like the DOS? We are considering this or the OS w/2 balconies. Haven't been on a ship with a Haven in a long time. Worried we might miss it. Also which DOS were you in? The layouts seems strange. Bedroom is a ways from the bathroom. Did you miss having a balcony? What about the rest of the Dawn? Entertainment? Food? Staff? Thanks for any info!

I haven't been in an OS w/2 balconies, buy I met a couple at breakfast that loved it!!

We were in 12500, it has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. It was great!! The master bath had a jacuzzi bathtub with a flat screen TV above it! Being on deck 12 (pool deck) we didn't miss the balcony at all. We had a big balcony on our January 2015 cruise and probably spent about 10 minutes out there.

Our butler Dominic was terrific, wrote down my requests. Brought us what I asked for. If not the same day, then the next day.

I went to all of the shows except Second City (not a fan of improv) and I missed the Whitney Houston Tribute. The cruise director Richard is very personable and funny. Hanno is the concierge and he was able to rearrange dinners for us.

I have never cruised a ship with a Haven, so I can't compare.

  5. Get in line! I have 1st dibs!

Moved out of Weymouth when we got married in 78. My Sister still lives in the old neighborhood.

I graduated from Sacred Heart (in the landing in 78), we live in the Birches (on Whitmans Pond). Dead end st, its like living in new hampshire

  6. May they will come up with a Game of Thrones Cruise.

BTW, I was born & raised in Weymouth!

I would love a Game of Thrones cruise!! Especially if Jon Snow was aboard!!

Small world!! I have been here 30 years, moved all the way from Braintree, LOL!!

  7. Not necessarily true, we did the sixth man charter for the walking dead last October and called and asked and we were told we would get our points and we did. I am pretty certain sixth man has an agreement with NCL that people get their points.

I was told this would be the only benefit but once on board we received,m even though we were on a 3 day cruise our champagne in our room, chocolate covered berries and La Bistro dinners

Thanks for the info!! I would love to do the Walking Dead Cruise too!!

  8. I was able to keep it secret from my husband until we got to the priority lounge. Even though it was just the 2 of us, it was great having 2 bathrooms, I was able to get ready in the master bath while he showered in the smaller one.

Nothing like sipping on a glass of wine while watching Jurassic Park while in the Jacuzzi bathtub!!

The laptop in the cabin was a little faster than then desktops in the Internet Café.

The order for our three bottles of alcohol did get processed by pre-concierge. We ordered Baileys, Captain Morgan Rum, and Stoli Razz, they didn't have the Stoli Razz, they had plain Stoli in the suite, which I swapped for Stoli Vanilla.

I told our butler, Dominic (best butler ever) that I didn't care for canapés, so he brought us sandwich quarters every day. I asked for gummy bears and m&ms he brought both the following day.

I mentioned that we were celebrating our anniversary on the last night, he brought us a happy anniversary cake. When we got back to the suite after the shows housekeeping had decorated the master bedroom balloons, streamers and a Happy Anniversary sign.

  10. Pathubia - thanks for your info. And you never know, lightning could strike twice to get you back in the DOS. Thanks to you I may even give the upsell fairy a call...

Definitely give them a call, the worst they can say is no!! Our upsell for the DOS was $1000 total above what we paid for the balcony. I don't regret it at all!! The service was incredible!!

We are in a family suite with no balcony for our next cruise, all of the suites are sold out!! Or very close to it, I don't think there will be any upselling for that one. :( But that's ok. Its just my husband and I in the suite.

  11. Did they give any indication what they were doing to the GV during drydock? It sounded like quite an overall.

I didn't ask about specifics, I was told "total" new furniture, tables, chairs, rugs, walls painted....Not sure what they were doing outside. Not sure if they are getting new pianos. Doubt it, but you never know!!

  12. We (me, my DH and his two siblings) are taking my Mother in Law on her first cruise for her 80th birthday. We have booked a GV on the Dawn. I chose this cruise because it only goes to Bermuda, so she won't feel pressured to get off and do a different excursion every day in a new port. She can do as little or as much as she wants while we are docked for three nights.

She is very excited and wants to know what there is to do on the ship. Does anyone have somewhat recent copies of the Dawn Bermuda Dailies you could share? I think that would be the best way to give her a sense of what activities and entertainment she will have to choose from. I realize the Dawn is only beginning its Bermuda cruises after the dry dock, but maybe someone has some from last summer? While it wouldn't be entirely accurate as to entertainment options, it would give her a pretty good idea of what she can choose from.

Thanks in advance for helping my MIL have a great 80th birthday cruise.

    WP

I was able to tour both GV, they are incredible!! I am very jealous and they will be even better after the refurb!! :)

  13. We were just on the DAWN for a 10 day cruise, things will be a little different, I will try to scan the dailies when I get home.

In the meantime, they had a Welcome Aboard Show, a Band on the Run Show (70s and 80s music) , Whitney Houston Tribute, Juggler, Showdown (NCL Idol), David DaVinchi (incredible illusionist), Elements (a little bit of everything), Aerialist show (great), Second City Comedy.

Jose and Patti perform in the Atrium every night, they are a great duo. They also perform a Neil Diamond Tribute show in the Stardust theatre.

They have shows in the Spinnakker Lounge, Not So Newlywed Show, Dancing with the Dawn Stars, the Perfect Couple, The Quest (very adult scavenger hunt )

Bingo everyday, Deal or No Deal....

They do have bands at the pool....So much I cant remember, LOL!!

  14. I don't think that anyone should be worried about a "construction" cruise. They were sanding the murals on deck 7 or 6, now I am not so sure, lol.

I am not exactly sure what is being done, everyone I spoke with said something different!! The rugs are being replaced, the mattresses, the lavazza coffee makers, the walls painted. Hoping that the window in the DOS will be replaced, they tend to fog up. (we will probably never get lucky enough to get in there again).

The entertainment staff was disembarking, the rest of the crew are going to be working on the refurb with the contractors. I was surprised that our suite was cleaned and made up when we were getting off the ship, I thought that the work was going to begin right away, but our concierge said that the company big wigs would be staying in the suites to oversee the work being done.

  15. Hanno was our concierge and Dominic was our butler. They were both terrific. Any requests were taken care of. If not the day we asked, but by the following day! Gummy bears (which we soaked in rum, Rummy Gummies)....M & Ms, we asked for sandwich quarters everyday rather than canapés, not a problem. We were going to LeBistro for our anniversary and Dominic surprised us with a cake in the cabin and decorated the master bedroom with balloons, streamers and a Happy Anniversary banner.

I was able to tour both Garden Villas, once with the concierge and once the GV guests offered to show it to our next door neighbors and we tagged along....Oh La La, I should have done the UPSELL, just kidding, it would have been great with our kids, but way too much room for just 2 people!!

  16. I wanted to go to Lamanai while in Belize, the excursion was listed on NCL's page but not offered on my cruise. I called the shore excursion desk and they said they would check on it and to keep checking the website, lo and behold, it appeared the next day. We took the excursion last week and it was wonderful!!
