  1. I am sorry you had such a difficult time. You must of felt helpless just sitting and waiting! It's something noone will understand unless they have experienced it themselves. Glad you had a good time despite your issues. I can't believe how insensitive his remark was to you! Hopefully he will learn from the experience.

  2. Please tell me how this works? What is the benefit of buying a gift card and how did it save you money?

You either buy a $100 gift card for $90 or a $500 gift card for $450.

So you save money automatically when you buy them!! It's as simple as that.

  3. You can buy discounted gift cards anytime through AARP Rewards (do not have to be an AARP member) or Allstate and you can apply them toward onboard expenses, gratuity, cruise fare, etc.

Also if you're a Sam's Club member, this upcoming Saturday you can buy gift cards for $70 for $100 value. Not sure if they have Carnival cards (I haven't looked) but do know they have Southwest if you're flying.

The gift cards that are $70 for $100 are the extreme value gift cards. Those are the ones that are usually about 20% off. Some examples are O Charleys, Logans, and Steak N Shake. Southwest gift cards are a little discount but only like 3%. I buy them there because every little bit counts!

  4. We are planning on doing the Southern Caribbean out of San Juan next year. My MIL will be joining us so this is the first time we will have 4 in a room. We are paying for her so a 2nd room isn't an option right now. Would be we better off in an interior with 2 upper Pullmans or an OV with 1 upper and 1 trundle bed? My concern with the trundle is it taking up all the floor space and blocking the path to the bathroom during the night. If we have 2 uppers DH and I will each be on one. If we have a trundle DS will be sleeping on it. Thoughts/ Experience?

We just sailed on the Ecstasy and had 4 people in a room. For me it is not a big deal at all. Definitely worth saving the extra money. As long as you have 2 people who can climb up to sleep on the upper Pullmans you should be OK. I have done a trundle before and it was able to be placed under the bed when not in use. Not sure if that is for all trundles though. Have a great time. We took the Fascination out of San Juan in March and I think it was my favorite cruise yet!!

  5. We just returned from a wonderful cruise on the Ecstasy. I am a big diet coke drinker so I always get the soda package. I was very surprised that they have gotten rid of fountain drinks on the Ecstasy. They only have cans. To some this may sound silly, but I do not like diet coke in a can. I have already purchased the soda package for our January cruise on the Magic.

Does anyone know if they still have fountain drinks? If not I want to cancel my package. I can take cans on myself and save some money.

    TIA,

  6. Has anyone this time around had any luck using the offer making multiple smaller payments to equal $500?

I need to only pay gratuities on one cruise, plus get my self the soda package, and can pay down another cruise we have booked.

    Thanks,

    Donna

  7. Yes, you can add them after paying your deposit! I just did it on Sunday when I paid off my next cruise. I had thought I had added them when I booked, but the balance due didn't show them. When I went in to pay the balance, there was a box to add them and insurance.

Can you add them after you've made final payment? That I don't know since I have never tried.

Yes, you can pay them online after final payment. We cruise is less than 5 weeks and the option is there for me to pay them now. I usually pay mine when I book but this was last minute and I am waiting on more carnival gift cards!

  8. The only way to prepay gratuities is either when you initially book or by calling and having them added. In either case it becomes part of your total cost and due by final payment . So if was after confirmation of final payment paid in full, either someone on booking called and added them or your pvp may not have been completely honest and needed to feel useful...lol

Not true! All you have to do is go into you account and you can add them at any time.

  9. If that were the case and the gratuities were added to the cruise fare, you would pay it when final payment becomes due at 75 days out, not 3 weeks until cruise.

Like I said, it's something else going on.

Not if they were added after final payment!

I went in and hit add gratuities last week on a cruise that leaves in 5 weeks. I was just wanting to know what the total amount would be. I forgot to delete it and when I went back on it said full payment was overdue. I had already paid everything else. So, yes, what OP was saying could easily happen. Maybe she was looking around on her page and accidentally hit to pay gratuities and didn't realize it. Why does everyone have to be so skeptical and think people are not telling the truth! It must be a conspiracy!

  10. Tell me about the fascination! Just booked her for the ports! Can't seem to find many trip reports or photos.

    Any help,tips, and suggestions welcome

Sailed her in March and had a great time! Yes, it is an older ship but has been well maintained. It doesn't have alot of the bells and whistles of some of the other ships but truthfully we did not miss them at all. It is a very port intensive cruise and we were ready to relax at the end of the day. The food in the dining room I thought was actually good. Buffet was hit and miss but could always find something. Go into it with an open mind and you will have a great time!!

  11. Imagine the delay if 3,000 people had gift cards they wanted put on their account during check in. I'll do it at guest services or the kiosk. I'm not going to make people wait to check in while they type all those gift card numbers in.

We were on the Fascination last month and were unable to add the gift cards at the kiosk. I tried 4 different times at 2 different kiosks. I was on the same ship last March and was able to load them at the kiosk at that time. Guest services said I needed to go there to add them. Definitely alot more inconvenient. I did notice the kiosk did not ask me the pin numbers for the cards this time. Not sure why it was different.

  12. Thank you everyone for your thoughts on this! Our original embarkment time was 1:30 so I'm excited to be able to get on sooner and start the exploring/fun/drinking/unpacking/swimming/vacation. I haven't figured out what that time is yet, but whenever it is, it will be better than 1:30 [emoji2]

We just did this cruise in March. We did not have FTTF and we had a check in time of 130. We arrived at the port to drop our luggage at 1130 since we had to be out of our hotel and decided to try and atleast get checked in and get our sign and sail cards since there was absolutely no lines. We got our cards in less than 5 minutes and then they told us we were able to board. Walked right on and the rooms were ready. We were able to get our room about 12. I can see FTTF being beneficial for some ports but no necessarily this one. But to each their own!! Have a great cruise!

  13. We are on the Fascination June 11th! This will be our first cruise and I'm so excited. A couple of questions...what time does the boarding start? Our time is 1:30. Is that an early time? Also, do magnets work in the state rooms? I've read yes and no. We got FTTF but I'm thinking I need to return it. Thanks for your review!

We were on the March 12th cruise. It was amazing!! We arrived around 1130 and our boarding time was 1pm. We did not have FTTF and we were able to board right away. Walked right up to the counter and then onto the ship! Absolutely no lines! HTH,
