  1. Good Tuesday Morning Dailyites ! I last wore a bikini when I was 16. As you know I am a workaholic, it's a terrible disease. But then, it's paid for my cruising habit ( an acceptable addiction). I love apple turn overs, blue berry turnovers, cherry turnovers, etc. The cookies @dfish look wonderful. All of them. Yesterday I made ribs in the crock pot, potato salad, and deviled eggs, and that wonderful lemon pie recipe that was posted last week. I lost the recipe, so I winged it. I will make it again. I think I will try it with limeade, and put half of the cool whip in the mix, and then cover the top with straight cool whip. I used a pecan crust, not sure I would do that again. Maybe with a chocolate mix. Any flavor it might have had was lost to the lemon. Yummy! Even DH was amazed at dinner and dessert. Today I am waiting to hear if my new campaign is ready to go, or if I have been lost to the Texas campaign for another month. So far, no update. No other plans. Until Thursday. Then I go get lunch at our favorite BBQ place, and pick up some chopped pork for quesadillas. With the price of gas these days (even though they say it's been going down) I need to really watch my driving intentions, and include as many stops in one trip that I can. Yesterday was another horrible day in the news. Seems like every day is bringing out the worst situations, every where in the world. I told someone a year ago, that when we all self isolated it was like we were all caged, and when the world opened up, it turned out that a lot of people just needed to remain in the cage.
  2. Happy Fourth of July! Happy Monday! DH and I went to my favorite Italian Restaurant for an early dinner last night, to keep having to cook during evening work hours. Their servings are so huge, that we figured we would live off the left overs for several days. Today is crock pot ribs, potato salad and deviled eggs. And then that will become left overs for several days. So lunches and dinners are covered until Thursday. I managed to watch the F1 race yesterday-one of the best races I have ever seen, except for the accident. Then I watched F2 and when we got back I watched the INDY race. I still have the F3 and the Porsche racing to watch. Another reason to use the crock pot besides less heat- Happy BBQ Day I would have to spray some Teflon on the side walk, how do you flip an egg off the pavement. ? The air around the house is smoky from fireworks, and it's only 8 am - come on rain!
  3. @TiogaCruiser I have thoroughly enjoyed your pictures of the Grand Canyon. The colors the rocks and soil take on during the day are incredible. @AncientWanderer Of course it has been more than two years since DH and I cruised, but as adults besides doing the Maine Windjammer Cruises (cruise is a loose term) DH and I have cruised Carnival. Three things I have learned. Don't cruise in the summer when a ship is full of kids. Don't take a 3 day cruise, and if you really need that cruise, and don't like crowds and tons of noise, go to the top on the back to the water park area. For some reason, a place that is made for kids was the quietest place on the ship. Only 71 more days until I get back on a whale tail. Kids are back in school, a 10 day cruise, geared for a flash back of cruises in the 70's. I think most of the cruisers will be in their 70's. Yesterday we went off to a new Publix, it was a half mile form the old one. I think really have gotten used to our Krogers. Where sliced watermelon was 1.29. 4 pieces. The new Publix, 4 slices of watermelon? $4.99. A four dollar difference. Two steaks were 30.00. Now, with the job, neither of us have been really doing any shopping[, have prices gone up that much in two weeks? Because we ended up just getting enough to make the quiche, ribs for tomorrow, and it was 80.00. Wow! Those squirrel dinners just might be a reality soon.
  4. Good Sunday Morning Dailyites! @grapau27Thank you again for posting my morning "church".. The other day I asked DH where he wanted to cruise to, and he said he wanted to cruise around England. I said I wanted to go to England to meet Graham and Pauline. AND Father David. And then he added Guadalupe, and I can do that without flying anywhere. @Cruzin TerriI have not been to Hawaii either, nor has it even been on my list of places I wanted to go. Guess I'm just weird. I did enjoy everyone's pictures that were posted yesterday. My mirror is in a pink bathroom, the color of the room still makes me look blonde, so i had no idea that my hair had gone white, til I saw a recent picture. i went into the bathroom, saw the blonde hair, and said, it must have been the camera. This morning I am making quiche, watching Formula 1 and "vegging" out. I am still tired even though I went to bed at 10 and slept til 7. I am so tired, I thought that the meal of the day said Fried Egg, and I thought, finally a meal I can fix.
  5. From Happy 365 Days Disobedience Day is observed on July 3 of every year. Disobedience Day is doubted to be an observation of civil or social disobedience as an act of protest. The day suggests people learn about civil disobedience and the reason for using it. Being very obedient may sometimes cause boredom as well curtail our creativity and liberty. Living by rules everywhere and being watched every time may result in frustration and a feel of being controlled. So take a break and let lose those rules. Step out a little to enjoy yourself, do things on your own, and feel the freedom that you always wanted. This day doesn’t encourage people to be utterly disobedient to their parents, teachers, government, or society, but little disobedience may help in refreshing oneself.
  6. Happy Saturday! I thought that I saw a UFO years ago, it was a weather balloon. I forget things so much, I take notes, all the time, and lose the notes. I do remember seeing a cover on a National Enquirer years ago that said-"Your cat may be an Alien", but heck I already knew that. In this picture, you see the cats coming down.😸 DH's appointment with the oncologist regarding nerve block surgery didn't go the way DH thought it would. He absolutely does not want DH to have more surgeries. He is sending him, we have an appointment, but he wants DH to learn how to manage the pain, not block the pain. More surgery means more time under, and more time under DH cant do. Yes, it has affected his mind, and it takes longer and longer to bring him back. So, the doc increased all his meds, to deal with the pain, thing is, that he needs to remember that one of the meds, HAS to be taken 3 times a day, and the other for pain, is to be taken BEFORE he has pain. I can foresee lots of problems in my future. He gets up now at weird hours, takes meds, and has no memory of what he has taken, so when he gets up again, to face the day, eh, he doesn't know what he took and when, and he doubles up on the already doubled up meds. So he is very hard to wake up in the mornings. The doctor also advised for the third time in three months that DH get out and walk every day, to take more vacations and to learn to enjoy his life. He then set up a blood test for DH, and told the nurse to give me money , for a vacation, because, I needed one. She and I laughed, and she said, but Ann does water aerobics. I said, no that isn't me that was the DH. I was taking an art class. But last night DH said we really need to set our work boundaries, He needs less working at night time, and I need to spend more time getting him up moving and walking. I am going to have to step up and get him a daily pill holder. Anyone seen one with morning, noon and night containers? And now you know why he cant be put under again.
  7. Just got back from Vietvana for dinner, late night working for DH. May you all sleep as soundly as a cat on a ship.
  8. @Quartzsite Cruiser I'm booked on a 10 day out of Mobile this September. Key West, Amber Cove, Grand Turk, Grand Cayman, Cozumel on the Ecstasy. And booked on the Spirit out of Mobile in February 2024, Bimini, Freeport, Nassau and Princess Cay.. These cruises are to do the things at each port we haven't done that we always wanted to do. In truth though, Bimini has always been on my wish bucket list, no matter how I got there. And Freeport, has a garden that I have always wanted to visit I haven't been to either of these places. And of course when Dan the BFF booked us on Holland for next year to complete a few places on our bucket list, well I started looking at HAL. The ports less touristy, places more interesting. So I guess I'm going to have to work until I'm 80 or start playing the lottery and actually win, because I have found some of the HAL cruises to go to other places on my bucket list. I have a big list, and a very big bucket! But a very tiny wallet. @1ANGELCAT That was so nice of your vet. Our vet takes a paw print of our animals in clay, and sends them to us so that we can hang them somewhere. I have left them in the boxes that they came in. I like the flower idea better.
  9. I know it's late in the day, but I would like to post a question to my friends here. What did you learn during Covid. By friend, or TV. or a book, or by a change in your own habits? I learned how to place bird feeders so that birds felt safe from predators, (this was from watching Springwatch on Britbox) and I learned to drink my coffee black. (this is because cream would go bad before I could get to a store).
  10. @Sharon in AZ If your DH cant take the pressure of retirement, may I make a suggestion? Have him contact your local senior center, to teach "UOF's" some computer skills. (Us Olds Farts). I have no idea how to paste a photo I have taken, or copy and print a spread sheet, that doesn't look like a jigsaw puzzle. We didn't grow up with computers, so who knew? Our senior center, allows a person to present their idea for a class, they do the class, and if people attend, they then discuss paying the instructor. So that the next quarter, if he offers the class, he gets paid. He wont get rich, but he will feel fulfilled.
  11. @kochleffel What a great question, of what I could make from what is found in my yard. Sort of a Brunswick stew, with possum, raccoon, squirrel and fox, flavored with oregano and rosemary. Put a spring of lantana on it, and I'm set to go. Like go eat elsewhere. But I think that with the cost of food going up, we all may be eating on what grows in our yard. @lindaler We like cruising out of Mobile, and there are some wonderful Gardens a little north west of you. I keep trying to get DH to take an extra day when we are over there, but he hates to pay for another hotel night, so we have never been. Maybe next year. (of course right now only Carnival cruises out of Mobile) but we like the smaller ships and were amazed when they said they were bringing the Spirit in in two years. (yes we booked that one too) Has the layout of the New Amsterdam. Jut not as classy. So welcome to your new home! @Quartzsite Cruiser About 4 years ago, a little 7 year old boy was sitting in church for a midnight service on New Years Eve. A bullet came down through the roof and killed him. New Years, and the fourth ? the day after- we are picking up bullets from our yard and drive way. Its so sad that the world cant turn at the speed where it would come down on the person who made the shot. That would eliminate a few problems in this neighborhood. That or maybe a more seen police presence. I digress, sorry.
  12. Ok, Now I'm back....rabbit, rabbit, white rabbit. Happy Canada Day! To all my "family" up north. I slept late this morning. This rarely happens. And I only got up once during the night. And that rarely happens too. I guess there were no cat wars last night. It was cool enough to have the den windows open, and two cats sleep in them, so no coming down the hall to the bedroom and attacking Tazi. It's a full F1 weekend, F2, F3 and the porche series. And the Tour de France starts. I am not a cyclist, but I enjoy watching the race, seeing parts of France I remember from childhood, and places I never got to see. And they are on wheels, so maybe it's the wheel part I like, not the motor part about racing that I like???? Nah. Working 10-2:30 today. They wanted us done early because the big wigs want to have along weekend, and I don't blame them. And then they threw in a zoom meeting at 1 today, where I am pretty sure that they will tell us to sign off and have a nice weekend so that they can get the time cards done. BUT, DH's boss wants them to work 3-8 today, and he called DH and asked him if he wants to work tomorrow. DH said NO! And he never told them there was a company wide zoom meeting. I am a party pooper regarding the 4th of July weekend. I live in a neighborhood, where gun fire is the firework of choice, and most people have not figured out, what goes up, must come down. So we don't even go outside. And when people are shooting off fireworks my furbabies are terrified. So I don't leave the house on the 4th. Bring on the rain!
  13. Good Morning Dailyites. Before I say any thing of non importance I want to post this from my senior center- Why did the tomato blush? / A. Because it saw the salad dressing. Did you hear about the first restaurant to open on the moon? / A. It had great food, but no atmosphere.
  14. My next flight is in May to Vancouver BC, and already I am dreading it. Haven't booked it yet, just dreading it. @StLouisCruisers I'm glad you are home, enjoy the rain tonight.
  15. @smitty34877 and @bennybear please send this off to your DH's with a hug.
