  1. to my friends who are Astro fans, congratulations to your team.🤗
  2. I am not cheering about the Astros. Standing independently from my family I cheered for the Phillies, I am a Jersey girl after all. But when you live in Jersey, you don't root for the Phillies. LOL. Last night was our last night with DH's family. And it was an evening we all shared while under a tornado watch/warning/watch depending in what county each family member was in. DH and I went downstairs to the guest room, watched Netflix British Baking Show, and finally heard the rain, coming down in buckets. Last night it was 72 degrees, this morning it was in the mid 40's. My BIL drove us to the Little Rock airport, we went through thorough scrutiny at the airport. Several of our bags went through the x ray machine twice... and flying back to Atlanta was one bumpy trip as we fly through the storm that went over us last night. They stopped serving coffee half way through the plane, and then the stewardesses were told to sit down and the back of the plane got no coffee or biscuits (cookies). We got to Atlanta safely, got to the train, and had to wait for the train to leave. Got to our stop , there was one gypsy cab, who drove us home for 15.00 bucks, and we headed out to dinner, not Chinese, but Vietnamese (our usual Saturday night meal.) The cats finally came out of hiding, and DH watched the World Series, and I was trying to catch up with the daily, and clear out 5 days of emails. Besides my sweet MIL starting dementia, which means that she forgets to put her hearing aids in, and DH is hard of hearing, and I am deaf in one ear, so not only the women in the house are loved, but really no one understood anything of what anyone said.
  3. Good Thursday Morning. I am in Hot Springs Village staying with my MIL this week. Her memory is going, rapidly, and thought while she was at a dr's office. I would check in and see what was happening with you all. @HAL SailerI am so sorry to read that your DSIL is having more problems on top of her problems. I am glad that the docs found the clot. I hope the meds help. My days here have been quiet. The house is on a small lake, and the back deck faces the water. There is a drought here, and the lake is half empty. I have a view of water in the distance and a mud flat up close. Still the reflection of the fall colors in the water is very pretty during the day, and at night the doc lights across the lake reflect in the water. Early in the mornings fog rises and sweeps down the lake towards us, and then it clears up. Last night 5 deer walked from the springs to the left of the house, and crossed in dark about 15 feet from me. DH has been going through his Dad's old things (he passed in 2003), and yesterday I was pretty much left on my own. My MIL gets hundreds of calls a day, which interupts her from doing the things she started doing, and by mid day, nothing was done, she'd lost her glasses, misplaced two cats, and asked DH more than 20 times if he was ready to eat, when he had already eaten. Just checking, I miss you all!
  4. Good Tuesday Morning ! Off to see my mother in law today. I'm pretty sure she will let me use her computer to check in, but I've packed a Randy Wayne White book, and Word search games. I'll miss you! @kazuI hope your foot feels better soon, I was so sorry to see you were injured. It's hard after a week to get back and read a weeks worth- so everyone have a great week!
  5. Chicken Provolone Ingredients 4 boneless skinless chicken breast halves (4 ounces each) 1/4 teaspoon pepper 8 fresh basil leaves 4 thin slices prosciutto or deli ham 4 slices provolone cheese Directions Sprinkle chicken with pepper. In a large skillet coated with cooking spray, cook chicken over medium heat until a thermometer reads 165°, 4-5 minutes on each side. Transfer to an ungreased baking sheet; top with the basil, prosciutto and cheese. Broil 6-8 in. from the heat until cheese is melted, 1-2 minutes. I didn't want anyone to starve today.
  6. Happy Monday Halloween! What does a southern ghost say? Boo ya'll! Usually we have a pumpkin carved, but not this year. DH really enjoys it. I like doing it, but we both have different ideas on what to carve, he goes for the scary face and I go for the more elaborate designs from the pumpkin carving book. So to save about 30 bucks, we didn't buy or carve anything. Currently raining. The last time kids celebrated Halloween-pre covid, we had several little ones, early, and then someone drove a bus around with kids too old to be trick or treating. We have candy, but not enough for a ton of teen agers. And our lights go out at 9. Our neighbors to the left of us dont speak english, and wont be home, and the puppy's mom, puts up a rope and cones, and blocks her driveway. We live on a steep drive, so the kids really have to want to get up herel The office cat has finally, after a year, decided that if I am not going to be at my work computer on Sunday, she will come out to the den and sit at the personal computer. I am currently sharing half a chair with Neko. I finally bought the new vacuum, and I have vacuumed the den and the dining room, still need to do the living room (work room), but it looks so much better!! DH said, you know that this vacuum doesn't have all the bells and whistles that the old one did. I said that my be true, but it works. It turns on and off, it's easy to dump, and I didn't marry it, i just wanted something to vacuum with. I cant think of one appliance that is made these days, that will last as long as the ones our parents purchased. Everything is cheaper, because after about a year, it becomes disposable.
  7. @ger_77 Let go, and Let God. And then kick some ass! (can I say that?) Sorry if I offended anyone.
  8. Happy Sunday Morning! When I was little I always wanted to go out on Mischief night, one year my dad asked me what would I go out and do, and I said Chalk the sidewalks. He gave me a piece of chalk and told me to "go to town" as long as I don't leave my own yard. My senior year of college, I toilet papered the campus. I didn't feel any better about myself by doing these actions. My weekend Manager from my old job, loves candy corn. She always had a hidden container from September til Christmas. I love it too, but DH does not. And im not supposed to eat it anyway..grr...
  9. @StLouisCruisersA travel mate with a husband and granddaughter with her from AZ..
  10. This morning I was working, I was on my last call of the day. I told the woman who i was, and asked why she hadn't renewed. Her husband had died last year, but she wanted to come back. The problem was that she was going on a BIG LONG trip and really didnt want to do anything until January. I asked her where the trip was going. She said the Amazon. I told her that I had good friends that were about to go to the Amazon, on Holland. Yup. I asked how the planning was going and she said fine except that she had to get a Yellow Fever Vaccine! I told her that several of my friends were doing the same thing. I told her about cruise critic, and she said that the woman she was going to travel with (different cabins) from AZ? might be on CC, she was on several sites. I told my new friend Lucy to drop on in here, that she would never in her life meet such a nice bunch of people. So you who are about to board for that Amazon cruise, if you meet a lovely lady from Louisville,, who's name is Lucy, say Hi! It really is a tiny world......
  11. Good Saturday Morning! I woke up too early to stay up, and when I got up again, the sky was blue and clear and what clouds there were , were taking on a pink glow. Red sky in the morning sailors take warning, and now the sky is gray and cloudy. @lindalerAt least the witches are not riding their brooms. Of course they could sweep the streets clean, combine the ride with a city wide clean up. From what I have seen of Mobile though, it is pretty clean. A very pretty city. @ger_77Bon Voyage, I hope you have a great time, and I am glad to see that the "mail" box is being used correctly. One of the campaigns I have been working on is Louisville Orchestra. (that's the one that is ending today). The conductor of the orchestra is interested in new music, so he has 3 new composers on staff, artists in residence. I called a patron several weeks ago and asked him what he was interested in as far as music, and he said new composers. I told him about the program that Teddy Abrahms had started, well it turns out he is a composer, and he contacted the conductor, had an interview, and was getting hired! His second interview was this past week. Since I wont be able to call him back on the 9th, I got my boss to change my call back to today so that I can wish my new friend good luck in his new life! I hope the second interview went well.
  12. First I read as much Daily until I have to go somewhere, and then I read what I haven't read after I get done with work, by then I have forgotten everything I have read, and then I go back and read them backwards. By the time I go to bed, not sure if I am coming or going.... so @rafinmd Glad that you can be remedied with the prescription. @StLouisCruisersI just love that Sadie. If i was a dog person (no cats at all) she is the perfect dog. @Quartzsite Cruiser I hope that all went well with your DH's transfer. @bennybearAs usual I love your pictures, beautiful swan. @travelnapI loved your chocolate pun post today. So, sweet. @Copper10-8 Great chocolate memes! @richwmnHurrray for your points, I'm not sure what they are, or how they help you, but it sounds good. @HAL4NOWIf I was a dog with puppies to care for , I would be amongst the religious statues. How astute for you to spot those fur babies. When we were on our last cruise, I met a vet who served both in the Navy and in the Coast Guard. She was stationed on Liberty at the time of the rededication, and she was the contact person for Ronald and Nancy Reagan. Their chauffer called her to verify the address to an Italian restaurant, and she asked why they were picking that particular restaurant, I cant remember the meal that Nancy was looking for, but it was what my new friend was making that night. She invited the President over for dinner, and he and Nancy showed up at her apartment and she served dinner to them, they stayed until 2 in the morning, talking, being normal people and playing with her kids. When we came back to the US in 1963, our Cunard ship ran into a sail boat in the fog in the harbor. The ship stopped suddenly! The sail boat sailors were uninjured and rescued from the water(the sail boat was toast) , and when the fog lifted , my Dad saw Lady Liberty and said, "we're home.", and I immediately threw up. (it was because of the ship's sudden stop). We did not live far from NYC, but since Dad worked there, we never went there, so when I was a sophomore in high school my best friend's dad treated the two of us to a day in the city. He said I could choose the whole day, we started with the trip to see the Statue of Liberty, had lunch at the Russian tea room, went to the top of the Empire State Building, and we had dinner at Rockefeller Plaza watching the skaters on the ice. It is a day that I will never forget, but that is the one and only time I actually went to the Statue of Liberty. Well, I've been nagging you all for months to support your local art, and today I stepped up to the plate, and became a season ticket holder for my very own county's Symphony. They perform at a college that is less than a mile from my house. There is one concert I cant go to, but I am pretty sure I can give those tickets away. I was expecting an email confirmation from them, but have not received that yet. If we dont get it over the weekend, I will call them again on Monday. The people who take the orders work from home, and the husband was filling in for his wife, while she was out shopping. Who knows what happened.
  13. Happy Friday Morning Dailyites! When I read the quote, I kept thinking, isn't this from Winnie the Pooh? Good, glad to know I had not lost my mind. I loved my new hair cut, but it is growing faster than I want, and because we are off to see the MIL next week, I have an appointment at 10 this morning to get it recut. (cant believe I'm actually saying that, as it usually takes me years to think about cutting it.) Best Boss will rethink giving me so many hours. So keep your fingers crossed. I talked with my "hire" boss and he said that the two campaigns I was being offered were a BIG deal. But I still have my contract with Asheville..... I love chocolate, my new love is hot fudge on coffee ice cream.... I hope everyone has a great day, and I am going to quote my friend Lisa, who says, Make it a great day. You have the power!
  14. I think the computer and I are at odds today. What i thought i had sent, seems to have sent twice Who knows. I do know I am no closer to getting job 2 with favorite boss, he was reminded in a meeting that I am still under contract for 20 hours a week with Asheville. But only 20 hours wont pay the bills or for vacations. I need 35-40. Addictions to cruises is a very expensive addiction. Penny came by tonight, her husband is going nuts with the meds, pain and life restrictions while he is under chemo and the proton radiation. He cancelled his appointments today, she was at wits end, and needed a shoulder to cry on. I was still trying to work, DH listened, but until Jesse gets a handle on this, he is just hard to handle. She needed a break, and I so get it! I read all the posts, but probably too fast, I love you all, I need to go get some sleep, I'm a bit depressed that I dont have that job to go to, I know something will come up, but I hate the unknown, and when I get depressed, I sleep.
  15. An update from Barbara on our friend Shari. Not good. She is in ICU on a ventilator, she is unconscious, and she has some type of viral infection. This is the 5th hospital in 6 weeks, and this time, they will not be releasing her after a week. This is the hospital that you go to for the worst of the worst. They would at least make her happy if they had a tv and had Somebody Feed Phil on for her. @Quartzsite Cruiser Let them get the fever down, and I hope you got your hotel room back for tonight. Thanks for the help on the quitting. It is true that you need to want to quit smoking in order to quit. I write down when I smoke, but I need to go back to the reason I light one to begin with. Some are out of boredom, just sitting at the computer on the phone all day. Some are habit, morning coffee with a smoke, and after a meal, and some are desire, when someone is nasty to me on the phone (how can that happen, I'm so nice) And speaking of that job (jobs) my other boss informed us today that our last day on the campaign will be Saturday. I told him it had been a complete pleasure working for him (it has) and he said he wasn't letting me go, he is signing me up for two more campaigns. He says he likes me because I'm an adult (nice way of saying old fart) but I'm honest and dependable and I think he appreciates that. I did have to ask when those campaigns start though, as I cant pay for the transatlantic cruise on my "cuteness". Prayers for everyone of you tonight. I think we all need to feel some grace these days.
  16. @sailingdutchy I loved all of your pictures. The women are beautiful, but the picture I liked the most was this. It represents a calmness, serenity and tradition all at once.
  17. Happy Wednesday Morning! It did rain last night, and this morning the sun is shining, ...well it was a few minutes ago. Seems to have become a bit darker.... oh well, weather will do what weather will do. I love mincemeat pie and mincemeat cake (the type of mincemeat when no actually meat is involved) and miss my Mom's pies at Holiday time. Yesterday our little campaign group were yelled at via text that we were not working fast enough. That we should be making 40 calls an hour, and be talking with 1.67 people every hour.. (1.67?) 1. you can dial til the cows some home, but you cannot make someone answer. and 2. the office cat requires petting constantly which interferes with dialing. Well I immediately starting calling faster, and someone picked up, and told me all the things that were wrong with my campaign, and that took 45 minutes. Does that count as the .67? @ottahand7 I feel for your brother, I am hearing more and more, that "I" shouldnt have had that surgery. I hope that they can get things right with him....DH with a hip replacement that didn't solve the pain, and Shari several years ago when they rebuilt her heel with shark cartilage.... @grapau27Thank you for the food porn. Steak and fries, best meal ever. Happy early birthday... @StLouisCruisers thank you for the pictures and for posting those of @Quartzsite Cruiser. @Quartzsite Cruiser glad things are going as planned, hope the transfer to the rehab goes well, and drive carefully on your way home. Get some rest, and maybe "the kids" can come down again, and help with "visits" too. (you might want to throw in some warm clothes for you in the car, and sweaters for your DH) Not having much luck on the quitting, but am not smoking as much. .keeping tabs, and writing them all down. However @rafinmd I think DH and I should not take up space on the "list"...I think everyone does understand the severity of a complete life change, but this change is for the better. Right now I'm like
  18. oh, one last thing before I head off to lala land. The quesadilla recipes the other day inspired me, so I made a weird one this morning. It was tasty, feel free to recreate, but I will tell you what it needed that I didn't have that would have made it great. I took a couple spoonfuls of low fat ricotta, added some cinnamon, stirred it up, and put it on a tortilla, added sliced strawberries, added the top half of the quesadilla ,browned both sides, cut into 4's and poured some honey on it. HOWEVER, it was not sweet at all. Was the honey actually super glue? Not sure. Just not sweet honey. So, what would have really made this great? Redi whip. Home made whipped cream of course would be best, but it was breakfast. Dh came in right after i took mine off the griddle. He asked what it was, I told him, after a while he asked if I would make him one. Of course. But in his I added sugar. He liked it I guess. He said it was tasty.
  19. @4966and556 I hope I'm not too early sending this and not all the i's are dotted yet, but-congratulations on the adoption of your new fur baby.
  20. @Cruzin Terri From previous experience with Carpel Tunnel, think about what is irritating your wrists, and take time off from it. I was a performer, I wrote music, and played in bars and restaurants in the Decatur/Atlanta area. I rehearsed 6 hours a day, performed 4-5 hours a night. And I played guitar. And after several months of this schedule I had to put the guitar down. it was ok when it was open mike nights, when I started, but doing it on my own 4-5 nights a week, it was too much. I put down the guitars, took up drawing, and while i miss making the music, my wrists are not so screwed up. I got an office job with filing, typing and kept the pain out of my life, until of course i was typing all the time,, and then back to the drawing board. Figure out what you do that causes the pain, and quit doing that. See if the pain clears up a bit. An old friend had carpel tunnel due to typing, she had surgery on both wrists, and she said they never worked well afterwards. Now i know surgery has improved, but surgery should be a last resort for something that you can change in your life to make yourself feel better. I wish you well in that endeavor.
  21. @Quartzsite Cruiser for you and Steve (pretty sure he may be doing this sooner than he thinks)
  22. @dfish Thank you for the recipes! Especially since I know how busy you are. You're the best! My tummy thanks you.🤗
  23. @seagarsmoker I hope you two enjoy a wonderful day-thank you for sharing your wedding pictures with us.
