  1. I have been ignoring your starlink obsession mostly for a couple of years now, but am considering buying the service for the future Airstream. I will have to look and see if the batch of satellites will fly over us this weekend at the lake. Seeing them chase each other is really unique. I didn’t realize what I was seeing the first time I saw this. We love sitting on the boat watching for satellites around dark time in the evenings.
  2. We have stayed there a few times. It is not new or super fancy, but it is good and close to the port. The other Hyatt Place in Dania Beach is nice too, but a lot further away.
  3. I think the only tankless electric units are point of use units. Usually for a sink, not for whole house. So, LP is the option for those not on Natural Gas.
  4. So, the units cost about $1000 more than a standard 50 gallon tank. Installation is pretty simple if you have an exterior wall. We didn’t, so I put the unit in our crawl space under the house. We don’t have a basement but do have a 5 foot crawl space.
  5. All of the originals are gone. The closest to the original is Leong’s Asian Diner, which has a son of David Leong cooking it. It is good, but not as good as dads and way short of uncle Gee’s best. Gee’s East Wind set the standard. Really cool old building. When Gee closed, it could have been fixed up and been cool, instead they knocked it down and built a disco, that went bankrupt within a few months. I had it for lunch today at a crappy drive up restaurant run by a nice Vietnamese family. John and I have had this discussion a few times here. JC
  6. I think it is perfect for flying for drinking someone else’s nice wine. Not like you have to be there a specific weekend.
  7. Our bill is determined by April and October usage by the city. Many cities and water operators are installing wireless meters on gas, water and sewer usage. Cheaper to just drive by and have the meter read by a computer. I can’t imagine adding to the rest of that conversation.
  8. I have a Rinnai, that is 18 years old this year. I love it. I love having unlimited hot water. It is on Natural Gas and it is far more efficient than the tanked heater we replaced. Since we typically don’t use all that much water as a family of two, I expect our gas usage to be at least 30% less. I can’t think of any disadvantage. JC
  9. Our house is two story, all bedrooms on upper story. The laundry is across from the guest room. I can’t imagine humping laundry up and down the stairs. jc
  10. Can’t at work now. I have mentioned in the past, that the cellar is dwindling because I am approaching a time when I will be traveling more, hopefully in the Airstream visiting Andrew’s FlowRider. All of the stuff in the cellar that is left is really high end stuff, I have an aversion to drinking it by myself. You need to come over some weekend this fall. JC
  11. Tonight’s postings, remind me why I frequently fall behind on this thread…. And when I do read it… I am shaking my head. jc
  12. Curaçao is not that hard to find, although the blue is typical. I love Grandma. Aka Grand Marnier, more than anything in the world, but Curaçao is a clean orange flavor and Gran Ma is oaky cognac orange. Not at all the same simple orange flavoring, although with enough ingredients and depending on the amounts, it can work. That said, you should be able to find orange Curaçao with a little effort. JMHO jc
  13. So, when we got our cat, Victoria, she was a grey tabby. Very skittish. I swore she was going to be social, let me hold her. So everyday when I got home from work changed my clothes let her out of her room, I carried her around the house for the next 30 minutes or so. At first just trying to hold on to her in a comforting way, eventually me rubbing her belly and ears, etc. Silly cat almost lived to 22. She even snuggled with 3 different dogs during that time. JC
  14. I have missed 4 days, don’t have time to catch up. Was in Tulsa for the PGA Thursday and Friday, and St Louis for the Blues game Saturday night. jc
  15. I have nothing to add, but getting a PhD in Covid Vaccines since February 2020 is an impressive academic achievement. jc🤣
  16. I didn’t surf after all today… We had a storm blow in before lunch. The waves for about 15 minutes were almost as big as the ones in the Atlantic, causing spray to go over the top of the crown Viking lounge. I barely got the boat cover washed and re-covered before the storm hit. I am exhausted, we cleaned out the lower bedroom at the lake house, as it has been a holding area since brother died a few years ago. His wife, my SIL may be mad at me when she realizes we threw alway so much junk they had kept. I think she has been to the lake house 2 times in the last 3 years for short not overnight visit. Sigh.
  17. We went to the lake house and did major cleaning today. Weather here at Table Rock Lake is spectacular. Mid to upper 80s. Tomorrow, I am going to go wake surfing, hopefully successfully behind nephew new boat. I am thinking the water will be cool. Hope I don’t fall and freeze. jc
