  1. and the new EZ baagage

If you book thru EZ Air then no; they won't book anything prior to 11:30am. I am on Caribbean Princess in Feb and booked thru EZ Air; my flight is 11:40

We have an 11:30 departure on return from our trip in December. I feel comfortable with that since it was booked thru EZ Air, giving us Princess transfers. The new EZ Baggage service is great. We used it on the CB last month.

  2. We turn the tv to the bridge cam channel and mute the volume. At night, it just shows a bit of a glow until dawn. (I guess that wouldn't work on trips to the far north such as Alaska, Baltic, etc.) I like that I can see when we're coming into port, or when it gets light out.

  3. 2 Cognac, 2 gin, 2 vodka, 2 scotch, 2 tonic, 2 sprite, 2 coke ... plus beer and water.

    2 Coronas, 2 Perrier, 2 bottles water.

We traded all but the coke, beer and water for an equal number of ginger ales on the CB in August.

  4. The Caribbean Princess served prime rib on the first night on our June cruise. It was quite good. I always order it on the first night of each cruise. I only had a fatty piece once that was promptly replaced.:)

The beef medallions for lunch in the main dining room are another favorite on the first day.

It was on the menu on the CB in August as well. Missed it as we went to the Lido. Agree about the lunch medallions. On the Star in March and the CB in Aug they were excellent.

We've had some excellent beef in the Crown Grill.

  5. I have a copy of the Patter from Coral Princess with Pia and Mike as most traveled. I know Pia doesn't say how many days she has but the Patter does show how many at that point on their 75th cruise with Princess - way back in 2014. I won't say how many though. I know it's been a hard time for Pia but it's good to see her back again with an all new "Live" thread.

I was on that trip. I don't keep the Patters, but I remembered Pia and Mike as I had become familiar with her through her CC posts. That would have been May of 2014, IIRC.

  6. My cruise experience is less than half of yours, but on every Princess cruise I have been on, when a birthday or other event is a celebrated, it is the cabin steward who puts the balloons and the sign on/near the cabin door.

My wife and I have seen many of the "Congratulations" signs and balloons, and have received some ourselves, but we have NEVER seen them being put up. They just appear. We wouldn't have any idea who is responsible for the decorating.

  7. Rumor says "being alpha tested currently by Princess home office people, rollout to pax 'sometime

    in September'".

We just got off CB on Saturday (8/25). Quite a few passengers were wearing lanyards with the medallions. Those I asked said it worked fine.

We did not get the *****. (E406)

  8. I'm going to start this by giving you the numbers of the top three most traveled: #1 has 1448 days, #2 has 1275 and #3 has 1023. In the past I never told how many we had and I'm still not divulging it. But I will tell you I'm #7. :)

Several of my friends told me not to miss the show "Bravo", so I did in fact see it last night. Very entertaining; 5 excellent vocalists.

Didn't see a write-up on most-travelled in the Patter last week. (We didn't get a Patter Friday evening.) I remember you and your husband were most travelled on our Coral PC partial-transit about four years ago.

I enjoyed Bravo very much. The visiting soprano hit a couple notes I've never heard sung before!

    Responses will follow separately.

  9. I just spoke to an employee at the Ocean Front location on Regal Princess. Ocean Front is where you go with any problems about Ocean Medallion or if you wish to purchase accessories. He told me that the Caribbean Princess will be running full steam on Ocean Medallion at the end of August. He also told me that the Regal Princess will be running full steam at the end of November. Don’t hold me to this.

Interesting, I will be on Regal first two weeks of December. We shall see.

  10. Wife and I just celebrated our 20th anniversary on the Caribbean Princess. It was the first ship we ever sailed on as well, and overall really enjoyed our week.

A review from me would be very boring. We don't go to the dining room anymore, nor do we do excursions or go to many shows. Just a few comments....

There have been comments non this board that CB was being prepared for launching the Ocean Medallion system as early as August. Did you notice any such work going on?

  11. Going on our 1st princess Cruise Aug 4th. Have been on 21 cruises with other lines. What dining room is open after one embarks on the Caribbean Princess?

Just check the back page of the Princess Patter, in your room or at the Front Desk. It shows the hours for all dining locations. One of the MDR's will be open for lunch. Very few people go there. Good selection, too.

  12. Regardless which slot which chose, our breakfast was ALWAYS delivered 10 mins before the slot we selected, sometimes 15 mins.

Some of you might be saying great, but it meant us having to either select a later slot or set our alarm half an hour early, just so as we weren't woken up by the room service itself and us being totally unprepared for it.

I know this is a bit of a first-world problem! But was this normal? And if so, why?!

We have had the same experience. We just ask for the next later time slot, unless it interferes with planned activities (if it were to come "on time.")

  13. I'm on the Sky shorty FLL inaugural sailing in December 2019, curious if they installed everything on the new builds.

I would expect the Sky to have the basic wiring and panels, etc. However, when I call up Sky cruises for Oct-Nov 2019, there is no banner indicating Medallion Preview or Medallion Vacation. Not very promising. :(

  14. We purchased the luggage tag holders from Amazon. Love them. No problem attaching them after the flight. My friend had a stapled tag rip off once and had to go hunting for her bag. These are also re-usable so a good investment.

We now do the same. They work great. Previously, we would ask to use a stapler at the hotel. We always arrive a day before embarkation.

  15. We did the Star to Hawaii in March. Enjoyed it very much, but Hawaii weather was uncharacteristically cool and cloudy. (This was before the volcano acted up.) I lived in Honolulu for many years, so I know it wasn't normal. Anyway, we had a great time relaxing. We do love the sea days. I do trivia, and I did the ukulele class. My wife knits and reads. We do some of the shows, and we enjoy the evening games (Yes/No, Not-so Newly-Wed, etc.) The are generally great fun.

  16. The tv is a great idea but ours was facing us directly just at the end of the bed on the wall, all 32 inches of it :(. Since I’m the one who usually has middle of the night bathroom visits :D, I end up leaving the curtains opened just a tiny slit, since dawn starts around 2am just about everyday !

The bridge cam is dark at night. However, in the north, such as the Baltic, or Alaska, YMMV.

  17. Looking at a 14 day Princess Cruise that stops in Ft Lauderdale halfway through the cruise -- would we need to get off the ship and back on, or could we stay on board? I have seen back to backs, but this would actually be booked AS a 14 day...

I think at Ft Lauderdale, it is required that everyone exit the ship before it is released for boarding. We did a B2B on the Ruby about 4 years ago, and all "in transit" passengers got off and waited in an area in the terminal. As soon as clearance was granted, we were the first to board/reboard.

BTW, one doesn't have to wait in the terminal. You can depart on your own, and return on your own, just as at on any other port visit.

  18. Unfortunately not for the mini suite we stayed in. I tried to leave the door ajar with the light on but was unsuccessful. Be careful of the tall step.

We haven't used a night light in several years. We just leave the tv on with the Bridge Cam, and the sound muted. During the night, there is just a slight glow, enough to find your way to the bath. As dawn breaks, you get more and more light, and you can watch as the ship comes into port.
