  1. We have just had two days at Easter Island. We were made aware how tough and slow the tendering could be.And it was,but I have to congratulate the crew on how hard they all worked those 2 days to make sure we all got on the island. All the tender pilots and transfer staff were magnificent. It was very difficult the first day and once or twice the transfer took around 30 minutes when rough. But still they persevered.Well done Marina team.

  2. We are on Marina at the moment and I wrote on my half cruise comments sheet that I was disappointed that hardly anyone uses hand sanitizers, public areas or wipes (in the gym).On all the other cruise lines that we have been on,there is always a member of staff prompting people to do so.I was told that this company treats adults like adults and expects them to do it themselves.Well clearly they are not.Now what?? No salt and pepper pots, paper menus etc etc..and people still not taking any precautions that may have some effect.

  3. Different strokes for different folks, I guess.

Valpariso (2011) we very much enjoyed, especially the old town. Lima (2011) although maybe not on our favourite ports list, no problems in the port or the city. I agree Ushuea (2016) in nice, especially touring the water ways by boat. Montevideo (2016) we very much enjoyed, especially the food near the port. I guess we will find out about BA in about 53 weeks. We are looking forward to that one.

I agree too.Great cities and Buenos Aires was one of our favourites.Yes there are problems but there are in all Cities all over the world.I think you would be naive to go out thinking everything is hunky dory anywhere.

  4. It is a good idea to try and find someone who can be more helpful and take you to the ship.A few did this and there was nearly world war 3.People were very angry after their long wait at the port then the wait to board.

As for the staff Kitty, who knows why no one was there except gossip was from someone who asked your very question, that no one would go out there.Whether this was true or not I have no idea, but it could well have been.

  5. We are in OC suite on deck 12 and we are very pleased during our many sea days to be out of the wind.It is a soundproofed cabin too. These suites have their own entrance next to the culinary and art centres. We learnt that OC suites have instant access to tenders just showing their cards. No need to wait in the lounge for a tender ticket.

We have 3 free washloads for this trip.20 pieces in each bag.It is washed and folded and not ironed.

Basically we can book what restaurant we like when we like.

Love sitting in balcony hot tub whilst sailing the pacific ocean.

  6. Thanks to everyone for the information. I now have to figure out if that itinerary is workable for me. Since my post polio is getting worse, I have to find out if Lima would have accessible transportation from airport to hotel and hotel to port. From pictures I've seen, the Country Club hotel looks to be accessible because I could see a ramp outside leading to the lobby, so that would work well.

Kitty,if you are any way disabled you must request help at the port of Lima.you will hear more about this, but we arrived by taxi on Tuesday.A small pergola was standing next to a coach. There was no one there to ask what to do.No one spoke English. It was 11am and very hot.Luckily we were able to get straight on the bus and taken to the ship. For us it was easy but we were surprised no one from Oceania greeted us there or indeed provided water.

Half an hour later and there was chaos.many many people, probably 90% of them, were waiting over an hour and half to get on the buses.Full midday sun with no shelter, water, toilets or help.then when they eventually got to the dockside, another hour, again no water or shelter.

I understand this to be unheard of but nevertheless it happened and was very stressful for everyone especially frail, disabled and anyone wanting the toilet.very many burnt passengers. Not one member of staff to help and since,no apology. So take note and request help if you need it.

  7. we are at sea and internet is terrible,so will make this short.the fitness centre is big, well equipped.classes start at 7am with a mile walk followed by all sorts until 5pm.Yoga,cycling,pilates.there is a daily post in currents magazine or a full week in the gym.i have seen dumbells but didn't notice kettleballs. will check out.anyone wearing ill fitted shoes is thrown out.hardly anyone cleans the machines after them. But decent machines.

  8. Tiniest off topic, but reading a resturant review by a passenger eating out in Italy who complained that non of the waiters spoke English and there no Americans eating there, only locals. He hated it.

I could not get there fast enough.

But I would be following you.We always google family run non tourist restaurants.love them...especially in Italy.

  9. Princess has a lot more going on during the day and you can be kept busy.We always found somewhere to sit quietly.

Yes,there is the advantage of better swimming choices, even an adult only pool. Not salt water either.

Extra is paid for speciality dining and posh coffees, but then the original price is overall less. Also on Princess you can go outside, get fresh air and see clearly. On Riviera we were looking through glass or plastic screens outside.I,personally could not stand that on say,an Alaskan cruise.

Love the nightclubs on Princess.Very modern, loud and a lot of exercise, dancing!!

    Princess,we hated the lido...

The ‘English pub’ on Princess is extremely popular.

But there is something about Oceania that makes us feel comfortable. We have only sailed them once in an up sell to penthouse,so will see what our cruise on Tuesday is like on Marina.

  10. Yes ORV....

Upon arriving in Papeete, guests without transfers can proceed to the cruise pier and drop off their checked luggage. Please note the cruise pier does not have any facilities or seating where you can wait until embarkation commences. We encourage you to contact your travel agent or Oceania Cruises to purchase airport to ship transfers in order to board the vessel according to the aforementioned embarkation times.Guests must retain their hand luggage as storage facilities are not available at the cruise pier.

  11. This arrived for us last week. Our cruise in one week.

Upon arrival to Papeete, guests who purchased Oceania Cruises transfers from the airport to the ship will be greeted at the airport.

Checked luggage for guests with air reservations and transfers purchased through Oceania Cruises will be transferred from airport directly to the ship.

Guests with air and transfer arrangements purchased through Oceania Cruises who are arriving on an early flight (prior to 9am), will be transferred

to the ship for early embarkation,Guests must remain in the public areas until an announcement is made that their stateroom is ready.

  12. agathasmum

I understand your point on the music.I have never heard of Peggy Lee and Brill building, but sounds like they aren’t very modern.

On our first and only cruise (at the time) with Oceania,we were very disappointed with the entertainment, shows and live music....Even the in-cabin TV had no option for even 70s music. The evenings we went to see the shows,a lot of the audience was asleep!!

We had a great cruise and are away this weekend on Marina as we loved Oceania, but yes,the entertainment FOR US is poor.We are taking our own music this time.

  13. My cruise in a few weeks, how do I find my O Life choices on my account? I thought we had booked beverage package and had an invoice from my agent, saying so.Last week someone from their office called to say Oceania had contacted them to say we had not booked a choice.I referred her to my invoice. But since then I am unable to see where this is on my account.I can call my agent, but I want to see for myself,to be sure.

    Thank you.

  14. Celebrity has more specialty cocktails. To me they also have a better flavor.

ORV, When we were on Riviera,Gusti in Martinis would make any cocktail you asked for.We even cheekily looked up a few on the internet and showed him.He was great and the cocktails were the best ever ( even if he did joke that the cucumber slices were recycled from the spa)😀
