  1. That’s interesting. On the voyage I was looking at C517 does (did) show available when selecting 4 passengers during initial booking steps.
  2. Well that’s what I’ve read but I’ve seen cruise videos showing more than one interior on the island that did not. Also found some still photos showing this but not giving specific cabin numbers. While a couple others do show that type. Hoping someone knows what’s up.
  3. I’ve seen conflicting info on the type of bunk beds used on some inside cabins. Anyone know which type are used on the Island? Specifically are they mounted on the cabin walls and thus create a squeeze when moving about due to their dreaded “head knocker” location or are they full recessed in the ceiling? I’ve found video and photos showing both but it’s so hard to tell if some of them are “typical” photos. Specially I’m wondering about B407 and/or C517. They, like almost all interiors on these decks, show a 4 person capacity but little else info about where the extra beds are located is offered by Princess. thanks
  4. The Crown has a full wraparound promenade deck for walking or viewing scenery. The Royal doesn’t have this and it’s a huge loss imo.
  5. This can be done in some cases but it will depend on the booking terms of the existing reservations. Some old promotions had a no refund policy with respect to the deposit used to book it but I haven’t seen that lately. Also the older booking may have incentives such as OBC that could be lost in cancelled and rebooked.
  6. I’m sorry but this is simply not accurate. Unless it’s changed in the last month the Princess protection coverage will cover your flight cost for unexpected cancellation for any reason just like it does for the cruise cost as long as you purchase them using Easy Air with Princess. The flights can be days or weeks prior to and after the cruise. Believe me, we have made claims with the coverage. I believe the limit may be 3 weeks prior to or after the cruise but can’t recall for certain as it’s beyond what we have always booked so I know it’s not an issue for us. We never fly in on the day of the cruise and would never advise anyone to do so. Also some preexisting conditions are covered depending on how recent your last treatment or procedure were for the condition. You’ll have to read the terms of the coverage to get those details. The cancel for any reason clause may only pay you back in future cruise dollars depending on when you cancel but it will insure the full cost of unused airfare and cruise cost and cost due to trip interruptions during your trip UP TO the total you paid for the air and cruise cost. Any cost incurred by you due to interruption above the amount you paid is not covered. The medical limits are considered low by some and depending on coverage you feel comfortable it may be plenty. Just realize it’s very likely your existing medical plan may not cover you medical cost while out of the country. Also there are two levels of Princess Protection with the Platinum coverage limits being a good bit more than the standard. Platinum and Elite level members of the frequent travelers program get the Platinum coverage for the Standard cost. The bottom line is no one expects to cancel or reschedule their cruise after final payment (or 45 days for airfare) but it does happen more than you would think and without their (or other cancellation) insurance you may lose your trip cost to varying degrees depending how many days in advance you have to cancel. The booking details will give you their cancellation schedule for those without coverage.
  7. I knew that part and have always done so. I guess I just haven’t played enough and almost never play slots either.
  8. Very interesting. Thank you both.
  9. Yes indeed! We’re at 57 countries to date with visits to 8 more later this year. We certainly are “Blessed” to experience some much of the amazing world we live in.
  10. I’m curious how much one must play (contribute?) to be offered these comps. I typically play a few hours of blackjack and occasionally poker tournaments but have never gotten them.
  11. After reading some of the posts in this thread I’m reminded of a few things: - Cruising is certainly not for everyone - Vacations can’t be truly enjoyed by everyone even when they’re in the midst of amazing experiences in amazing locations where few get to travel - I love traveling by any means including cruising - I can hardly wait for our next trip to places we haven’t been to before - I continue to be amazed how long some threads remain active Did I mention I enjoy traveling? Even while sick with covid in early 2020 onboard the Coral Princess and sitting on our balcony in awe of the icebergs of Antarctica. Life’s just too short…
  12. Don’t forget that you can order a whole pizza using the app and have it delivered to any venue or location onboard. The pizza bar up on Lido cooks them and room services brings them to you. Ours were excellent on the Emerald in April.
  13. It depends on what time of the morning you get there and whether or not it’s a port day. On our most recent voyage on the Emerald (April 18 day Panama Canal) there were usually very few people up and stirring in the early morning (6:30-7:00). On early arrival port days there were a good many more but not just slammed. And of course on disembarkation day it was very crowded then.
  14. How long are their flights going to be? Upgrading their seats on a long flight could be a very special treat also. Just a thought.
  15. Sorry to see you’re missing the Iceland ports. We so wanted to visit there a few years ago and had issues as well. Apparently the wind direction is critical to being able to dock at some of the Iceland ports. On two cruises to Iceland we have made 3 of 5 port calls. The other two were canceled due to weather. These were both in the last 4-5 years and we didn’t have severe winds. As for rental cars and being reimbursed by Princess, they won’t be reimbursing anyone who shelled out money for car or independent tour bookings at any port. We never book a car that doesn’t offer free cancellation, ever. Since we are always dependent on either a ship port call or a flight to get us to the place of rental, neither are guaranteed to occur as scheduled and too often get changed. Most reputable car rental companies do offer free cancellation so it’s never a problem or hasn’t been so far. Tour companies are another matter and everyone must weight their own tolerance for loss of deposit or full payment should you not make the port stop. Luckily many tour companies won’t charge you for that unless they’re out money for bookings on your behalf such as hotel or unique experiences.
  16. Yes you can certainly do that. We shared one of our 4 with someone traveling with us recently. It is not an issue.
  17. Some people have posted here saying they did receive OBC for their elite bar setup in their cabin after boarding. Not sure why you would cancel it. I think I would board and explain I wanted them to honor it. Worse case they won’t do that so they cancel it and refund the cost.
  18. Sorry but I’m unable to help with this question. Not sure whether there’s any way to do this on those televisions. Not saying it can’t be done but I’m not aware of a way. I think complicating things might be the remotes in the cabins are not the original tv remotes if I’m it mistaken so that could make it impossible to change Bluetooth settings on them even IF the tv is Bluetooth capable. Hopefully someone will respond that knows of a way to do it.
  19. We were not offered OBC in exchange for the coffee card. After our second carefully worded email to customer relations in the months leading up to our cruise we received a call from a lady at Princess expressing regret that the loss of the cards had been so important to us and asked a few questions about what we would like to see with respect to bringing them back. I explained that for passengers like us who do not drink soft drinks and little alcohol the cards were very helpful and the new packages weren’t cost effective. In the emails and phone call I kept the comments courteous and respectful while expressing disappointment and frustration with the decision to eliminate them and in particular the way it was not communicated in any real way. The person was equally respectful and said she was limited in what she could do but would ask the ship to honor the cards until our 15 purchased coffees per card were “purchased”. I was a little skeptical the ships staff would do it but they did and we did receive the 15 before we began seeing charges on our onboard account.
  20. Correct. On the Emerald in mid-late April there were no 16 oz cups. Only the small paper ones (and glass ones in the IC). I should mention that after writing a couple emails to customer relations prior to our voyage where I voiced concern and disappointment about the loss of the cards especially given we had pre-purchased a pair of them prior to their being eliminated, the onboard crew did honor the cards shown on our account. They lasted several days into our 18 day voyage. After that it was $4.77 per specially coffee added to our onboard account each time.
  21. I chuckled a bit a few weeks ago when reading someone’s post here stating they take clothes left by some passengers to “hold” chairs around the pool or MUTS area for hours and toss them in the dirty towels bin.
  22. Very nice job with the “live from” thread and the detailed review. We enjoyed the cruise as much as it appears you did. Would certainly recommend it to anyone. We have a 20 day booked next year as well as a 28 and 13 day in ‘25 so it’s safe to say it was a good experience even with the loss of some of our benefits of old. We are however also doing 3 land based trips this fall and next year to see areas we’ve been trying to get to for years. Hope our paths cross again one of these days. Take care and smooth sailing.
