Took the ride a few weeks ago. It was fun but not as easy as you would think. First you have to accomplish getting into the harness which goes from your thighs to your shoulders. Once seated the harness is connected to the mainframe. No way to jump off or commit suicide. They thought that through! It's drunk proof as well........enjoy the view!

Just booked an April 2018 cruise on the Conquest that stops at Princess Cay as opposed to

Half Moon Cay. Was wondering if anyone has experienced this sailing on Carnival.

Is it treated the same way as Half Moon? Are the cabana's stocked with snacks, drinks,

and floats? What is the cost of a cabana? How many are there? Can you reserve pre-cruise

or only upon boarding? So many questions.........

The reviews are all from folks who cruised thru Princess and they treat it differently then CCL

treats Half Moon.....Example, no extra snacks in cabana's........

We got off the Vista last Sunday. She was docked in Miami at 6am. We ate breakfast in Horizons at 8am and were off the ship and at the airport at 9:30am. Totally doable especially if you self debark to lessen your stress!

Thank goodness for the folks who dress differently or are piled into their bathing suits.....part of the cruise experience is people watching. Sitting poolside would be boring otherwise...lol! Heck, when I get off the ship I feel like a 60 year old stud who still has a babe for a wife......Lighten up folks....Life isn't a dress rehearsal; you get one shot!

No, you don't have to be there right on time and if you're late you will be allowed to board when you arrive.

The time is a goal not a definitive time. Relax, get there when you want and enjoy!

As a teen I worked as a busboy in a jewish deli where we placed pickles and cole slaw on each table. Upon cleaning the

table, the pickles and the cole slaw went back into the wooden whiskey barrel vats in the back to be used again. It was up to us as to whether or not it was still "kosher".........gross eh!

There is no telling what is recycled in the food industry; of course it's against all health regulations, but it's still done.

This is one area where "ignorance is bliss." Safe travels.........

I suggest you try the Crown. We just did 2 weeks on her in Feb in South America and had a wonderful cruise. I did not see the flaws about which I had been reading. I did not think the dining room food was up to the standards of previous princess cruises but found we like dining in the buffet which surprised us as we usually prefer the dining room. We did the Carnival Horizon TA and vowed it was our last Carnival cruise. We are Platinum on both lines. We enjoyed our 2 weeks on the Crown so much more than the 13 nights on the Horizon. As others have said, both lines have cutbacks.

I appreciate your advice and will most likely follow through with the reservation. Our last CCL cruise was

on the Breeze which we enjoyed for the most part. We leave in a month for an 8 day voyage on the Vista.

Based on reviews, I'm a little nervous about that trip as well. The best way to know what you like is to take the plunge! I've read many a review of a horrible cruise and I was on the same trip and had a fantastic time. Thanks for taking the time to respond .

I will be embarking on my first Princess cruise after 13 successful voyages on Carnival. Why you ask am I trying Princess? Carnival has had some major cutbacks; mostly on entertainment. The production shows are a thing of the past

as well as a live band in the theatre. There are some cutbacks on food but all in all I enjoy it. Just looking for something different.

Now my concerns......I've been reading reviews of the Crown Princess and they are not flattering. The ship is showing it's age which is to be expected, but having torn, dirty, faded, carpet is unacceptable. The food is hit or miss and that could be subjective to one's taste. Not one review was mostly positive. I'm trying to go in with a positive attitude but it seems to be getting harder with each review. The question now is.....should we cancel?

I guess the crowds weren't too bad since you didn't grade them. Everything else is so subjective. Sounds like you

would be better suited for Celebrity cruises. Thanks for the review, we board in 35 days.

Thanks again for all the tips! After reading many threads I think the best match for us will be the traditional dining in

Dining Room B......We signed up for late traditional but prefer to eat around 7pm. So, as recommended, we will hit the

dining room that has early dining as the early folks are leaving. I have mobility issues so waiting on line for Anytime dining

could be a hardship. After dinner, head to the late production show and/or other late presentation.

As to the smoke near the Terrace pool, that's where the super soaker comes in; kidding of course!

Hi All,

This will be my first cruise since they instituted the staggered boarding system.

Being a Platinum cruiser, they show my boarding time to be 11-11:30am.

In the past I always went straight to the ship from the airport usually arriving at 9:30am.

My question is what time do they open the terminal so that passengers can check in and

wait till boarding time?

Thanks for the info......I was just reading a thread where everyone was complaining about Anytime Dining. Specifically,

how the wait for a table was excessive since they allow Anytime diners to make reservations as opposed to showing up.

I know; everyone has an opinion.......I'll have to learn the lay of the land just as I did for 13 Carnival cruises.

Another question......is smoking permitted by the pools? To be sure Not!......Just read where folks complained about

smoking around the Terrace pool............

Will be cruising on Princess for the first time in December; specifically on the Crown Princess.

I'm trying to coordinate dinner seating time with that of evening show times.

Are the production shows offered twice with an early and late show? If so, what times?

Do the other entertainment venues have multiple shows?

Any tips will be greatly appreciated!

Once again thanks for the information. As I read this board it appears that a lot of loyal Carnival cruisers are seeking

a new adventure. I won't say I won't venture again on a CCL cruise, it's just time to venture out. Sure will miss the

Platinum perks!

Carnival. A couple questions regarding elegant nights......Which nights are they on an 8 day voyage?

Is a jacket required in the MDR or will slacks and a button down shirt due? Are the specialty restaurants elegant attire on

elegant nights as well? I usually leave sports jackets at home.

Lastly, is there a check in desk for those with physical disabilities?

Ship condition is good. I think the food is good. Just not as many selection as there once was. The service is good but there have been cutbacks in the staff. Chair hogs absolutely!!! I went to the adult swimming pool on our first sea day about 9:00am. I counted 41 chairs with books, towels, sandals, hats and bags and NO ONE WAS THERE. :o :o

After 13 voyages on Carnival and number 14 coming up in May on the Vista, I thought it was time to branch out to another line.( My wife says turning 60 is the main reason). Truthfully, I'm very disappointed

in the cutbacks on Carnival especially when it comes to evening shows and entertainment. I grew up going to the shows in the Catskill Mountains (the Borsht Belt) and have always enjoyed live entertainment.

For those who have enjoyed both lines, I was hoping that you would be kind enough to share what I will

have to look forward to on the Crown Princess. We're booked on an eight night voyage to the ABC islands in Dec. Is the ship in good condition? How is the food? The service? Are the chair hogs out in force? Thanks!

I was also on this cruise and had an absolutely fabulous time. High points were: Chef's Table, Brewery Tour, CD - Matt, Alchemy Bar - Gabriel and Anna, Pig and Anchor, Guys, Fluffy for trivia, JiJi's.

 

 

We'll be on the Vista in May.....can you sign up for the brewery tour pre-board or only once on the ship?

I give up....I'm trying to determine on which deck/decks the Havana cabins are located that have the lanai.....Are there any regular balcony rooms that have access to the Havana pool during the day?

I can't even find the Havana Pool on the deck plans.....

The website really doesn't go into much detail or it's me!

We leave on an 8 day on May 6 (Saturday) on the Vista. I was told the first elegant/formal night was Sunday (sea day) and the second is on Friday....

Are you sure the first one was Monday and if so did you depart on a Sunday?

We always cruise with another couple. In the steakhouse on the first night, does each couple receive a bottle of wine or is there just one for the table?

How far is the anytime check in desk from the actual anytime dining room?
