  1. I don't understand all the hostility against the OP. She was merely reporting what she felt were inadequacies of her cruise. Anyone who says they don't exaggerate at times to get a point across is full of crap! So maybe there weren't 5 inches of dust. Dust on the TV and leftovers from previous travelers in the bathroom and on the balcony would upset anyone.

A beetle in the salad would upset anyones appetite and unsupervised children can put a damper on a vacation.

This forum is to alert, notify, share, good and bad things that occur while on your cruise.

I've been on 11 Carnival cruises and enjoyed each and everyone but that doesn't mean I've not had some issues to go along with the good.

With that said, thank you OP for your report. Sorry to hear about the issues you had but hope all in all you enjoyed your cruise. Grow up people!

  2. We rented one on our last cruise. I don't think you'll have any problems with 4 adults and 2 small children in the cabana itself. They give you 4 passes for the skylift and I'm sure you can buy 2 extra's. The only issue you may find is seating. There are 4 loungers per unit. On a side note, we will never rent one again. They allow all guests to walk in the water right in front of your loungers, and anyone can use the water in front. We found it to be very chaotic and took away from the relaxation that the fee entitled us to.

    Good luck!

  3. My take.....Prior to Mahogany Bay being developed we truly enjoyed Isle of

Roatan. The locals sold their wares just off the port and we had an opportunity to see what life on the island was about. We then took a taxi the beach for the day. Now, you're locked into the wonderful world of Carnival with all the money staying in house.

We rented a cabana a few weeks ago and it was pricey $225.00. The furniture in the cabana smelled like mildew and the cushions on everything were in need of replacement. Having the "privacy" was nice but others who didn't purchase the cabana's were constantly walking in front of us by the water and having to be asked to leave the area by security when available. There was one waiter for all of the cabana's. Food and drinks were not timely.

At least on Half Moon Cay, soft drinks, chips, salsa and fruit were included in the price. Last, in that the ship left at 3pm, we had to start back at 2pm which made it a short, expensive, day........

  4. Just off our 4th Glory cruise. It is our favorite ship as well. The staff is exceptional with all members working hard to ensure you have a great cruise experience.

Our room steward was fantastic and our dining room staff was very responsive to our needs. It was my first experience with the American Feast menu and found it to be fine. I missed the bitter n blanc dessert but never went hungry.

I look forward to my next cruise on the Glory.

  5. Be careful when booking a "spa cabin". We just got off the Glory this past Sat. & had a "spa cabin". There are no benefits unless you book a ship that has

Cloud 9. We received no benefits other than being close to the gym, steam room and sauna. The only things in our bathroom goodie dish were soap- 2 cakes.

  6. I have been on 10 cruises to date and have a brace on my leg and walk with a cane. It is very do-able. Staff will assist with your needs. The most dangerous thing will be your fellow guests who don't see you or don't care about you; I've seen both kinds. Just take it slow and enjoy what you are able to do......

  7. My Dad who is 89 years old but active as a 75 year old was cruising on the Glory 2 weeks ago when he fell ill. He had trouble breathing one evening and

woke not being able to breathe. He was taken to the infirmary where the Dr.

assessed him and immediately sedated him and put him on a respirator.

Because of the respirator the US Coast Guard was unable to airlift him back to

Miami. They were on the last sea day with the boat scheduled to dock in approx. 24 hours. Well, the Captain put it in the wind and they arrived back in Miami at 2:30am. He was met by an ambulance and taken to U of Miami Hospital where he was treated in the CCU. Turns out he had a heart attack and his lungs were full of fluid. The medical care was superb and he is now off the respirator and recovering.

The Dr. on the Glory saved his life. He has a long road till recovery but at least has a chance. My wife and I will be on the Glory Dec. 6, 2014 and I'm looking forward to meeting and thanking the Dr. who cared for Dad.

This now turns into another thread concerning the purchase of travel insurance. Dad did not have any. Instead, his traveling companion gave the ship my Dads credit card which was billed for almost $6,000. Sure his life was worth more than that but had he purchased insurance like I requested him to do, the incident would have been covered. I'm not sure what would have taken place if his companion refused to give the ship Dad's card.

Moral of this story is the medical staff's on Carnival are excellent but if you don't have insurance be prepared to pay before you debark......

  8. I too think that this could cause me to check out other cruise lines. My biggest concern has been the demise of the entertainment offered by CCL but with my Platinum status and the OBC by owning stock kept me coming back.

This is something that John Herald needs to speak to sooner and not later. The company is profitable, stock is rising, but this can be trouble for CCL.

  9. To be sure travelers won't let this one persons opinion sway them to cancel or not

book this ship. We were on her last Nov. and had a wonderful experience. The only thing lacking was a serenity deck and we cruised before they were in place so it was no biggee. I personally think a cruise is what YOU make of it. Go in with a mindset that everything is not to par and you can fulfill that wish. Opinions are like butt holes; everyone

    has one; me included!

  10. The Glory is our favorite ship. We sail on her for the 4th time in Dec. We find the ship kept well, staff is friendly, food is excellent, and it now has the 2.0 upgrades.

If it had a cloud 9 spa it would be perfect.

Take a good look at the deck plans. Once you remember to use level 5 as your throughway from the bow to the stern you'll be fine......Enjoy!

  11. Well, the folks who have replied so far have made good points but we had a different experience so there is hope. We booked an ocean view cabin for our second cruise and we were upgraded to a balcony on the 7th floor. The reason the cabin wasn't booked was because it was directly across from the laundry/ironing room. Turned out to be a great cabin. No noise, and we were able to iron when no one else was using it!

Have only booked balcony cabins since then......Good Luck and think positively!

  12. Are you really surprised? The charms are no different than the gold by the inch.

Inexpensive glitter! You are not going to get Pandora quality for next to nothing...

Remember- if it sounds too good to be true......

  13. Well, it depends on how you take it.....we booked while on board the Conquest last Nov.

The rep said it was on the spa deck and had spa usage. I guess I should have investigated it further. It sounded like we were getting something special......I'm usually savvy enough

to seek details but got caught up in the moment. In my book there is nothing bad about

any cruise so we'll just enjoy it for what it is......

  14. We are booked in a spa cabin in December and was wondering if anyone has recently had a spa cabin on the Glory.....

If so, what "extra's" were provided? Did you have access to the Thalassoppy

pool or is there an upcharge?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

  15. Must have really gone to hell in a basket since we were on last Dec. Other than being without a serenity area, the ship was in as good a shape as the others we've been on.

OP must have been board and walked around with a clipboard and a pencil. Thousands ride this ship each week and he was the first to say it was run down.

Opinions are like a-----es. We all have them including me.
