Getting to Trunk Bay from St Thomas Port
BrotherCraig replied to newmil's topic in St. Thomas/St. John
Any details on that? I can't seem to find anything. Thank you. -
That is the great thing about cruising with the family. We cruise with 5 in our party - will be 6 now - and we have never sat with others. They always sat us at our table and with a great view. We always hit the main dining room first to see where our table is. If we don't like it, we ask to be moved. Never had to do that but would if it came down to it. With that said, my wife and I cruised by ourselves once and we were sat with another couple. They were great so feel lucky there. Next cruise, we are trying YTD due to being on a Excel. So many options.

So true! LOL! I am sailing on June 4th. Had to switch from the May 20th one to June 4th unfortunately due to work. Hope you have a great cruise and also hope to cruise with you sometime in the near future.

Getting to Trunk Bay from St Thomas Port

That makes me feel a bit better. We go to Roatan often none of the cars we had there had seat belts so use to that. Always felt uneasy about it but we made it work -- still alive. Thanks again. -

Thank you. Well, that would save me from lugging a car seat around I guess. 😳 -

Bringing a 2.5 year old with us. Do the taxis to Red Hook from Havensight have a place to put a car seat? What is best? Same for the bay to Trunk Bay? Thank you. -
Security needs to monitor the foul language
BrotherCraig replied to BETSY DOLL's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
I agree. I always speak up. If people are cussing and being vulgar around my wife and I, I politely ask them to tone down the language. My wife and children have never heard me cuss - ever. Have I ever? Of course! Not around them and not around strangers either. -

We arrive at Havensight at 7 AM and will be at the gangway ready to disembark once those doors open. Hopefully we get in early and get an early start so we can have enough time to enjoy Trunk Bay. Guessing 8:30 AM ferry from Red Hook. Or we hope. Would love to make that 7:30 AM ferry but that would be a miracle. LOL! My ship leaves Havensight at 4 PM. Hoping the 1 PM ferry back from St John to Red Hook will be efficient enough to make it back to the ship by 3 PM. I am sure it is. -
Security needs to monitor the foul language
BrotherCraig replied to BETSY DOLL's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
I will never understand cussing and profanity, especially around strangers, and never will. With that said, security should not monitor bad language. You can always offer soap to the person so they can wash their mouth out. LOL! Maybe not. HA! -
I have been there when it was $15 pp and the last time it was $20 pp. I imagine it is up to $25 pp or more now. Well worth it either way. We really enjoy it. We even stayed there for a week once about 4 years ago.

what's the dealio with bluetooth speakers?
BrotherCraig replied to havanadaydreaming's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
I always bring my small Marshall one. I keep it low where nobody outside of our cabin can hear it. For balcony use, I just use my air pods. -
They didn't have the AI when we have went so we only have done pay as you go. I much prefer that anyways. Figure 4 hours beach time there for us -- AI isn't worth it. I imagine the AI is limited menu which is a negative.
-
Does the $80 per person include transportation?
-
We use Rony Tours or Bodden for a private tour driver for the day. Usually around $25-$30 a person. Then we pay in the lobby for a day pass.
-
Worth going for sure. We always pay as we go. Use to be around $20 to get in. Was never crowded so that was a big deal for us. The pool is gigantic. Bar and restaurant service is great. So is the food. On the best part of that beach. Pictures - 1/2 of the pool Taken from the little bridge that goes over it.; Beach front ; picture from Grand Roatan Resort showing the resorts and beach area ; my MIL enjoying it ; the monkey la la drink. Each bar on the island does it a bit different. I tried many.

I hope Disney has better luck with the Treasure than they are with the Wish. All kinds of issues - mostly mechanical on that one.

Testing casino points for a cruise offer on my last cruise
BrotherCraig replied to asalligo's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
How do you know how many points? I have been on many cruises gambling and never once kept track of points. I usually only budget $1K for gambling - never slots. I never have received any deals. Thanks. -
Jubilee 2 new zones announced
BrotherCraig replied to AtSeaWithChris's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
Then there is this from the TABC: “Like any business which holds a Texas permit to sell alcohol, any alcohol sold by the cruise lines while in Texas must comply with the state’s alcohol laws. Sec. 28.07 of the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Code requires that any holder of a Mixed Beverage Permit (the permit most commonly used by the cruise lines) must obtain their alcohol inventory from the holder of a Local Distributor’s Permit. Again, once the vessel is in international waters, these requirements no longer apply.” So they have to sell liquor from Texas on Day 1. That goes for any cruise out of TX. -

Thanks for the clarification and the link. Always was told it was because Carnival didn't want to pay taxes on the texas liquor on day 1. Makes sense although they should make exceptions. Found this from the TABC: According to a spokesman for the TABC: “State law and TABC rules prohibit any practice which could reasonably be interpreted to allow or encourage overconsumption of alcohol. This includes “all you can drink” packages or other promotions which allow unlimited alcohol for a buy-in price. These standards would apply to any alcoholic beverages served or sold within Texas territory, including any waters over which Texas claims jurisdiction. Once a vessel is outside of Texas territory, the state’s laws no longer apply.” The issue to me is that Carnival is not selling unlimited alcohol with the Cheers! It is max at 15. -

It has more to do with the state laws and how they tax liquor. Royal Caribbean has their drink packages that start on Day 1 out of Texas but they have limited liquors on Day 1.
