@wolfie11 appreciate the response! I guess I'll see what the day looks like!

I will be on HAL cruise in late August and have booked the ships Tracy Arm excursion. It will get us back to Juneau around 4:30 and ship leaves at 10pm.
Would there be any time to book a whale watching excursion? Can you book independent excursions at the port or is that too risky?
TIA

Amazing information! Those pictures are incredible!
I will hopefully be able to book this tour, Seems like an easy decision! 🙂

Thank you for the explanation. So that means we need to make a decision, and pretty soon.
Is the Tracy Arm excursion okay for younger kids, say 8 years old?

Hello, my family and I will be on the August 21-28 Inside passage cruise on Holland America.
I just wanted to get some idea of what this means:
Aug 23, 2024Tracy Arm InletSERVICE CALL,ACCESS TO SHORE LIMITED TO SHORE EXARRIVES 10:00 AMDEPARTS 10:30 AMLEARN MORE Aug 23, 2024Juneau, Alaska, USARRIVES 01:30 PMDEPARTS 10:00 PMIt shows there is an excursion I can take cruising Tracy Arm Inlet. If we do that, does that mean then we will have no time in Juneau?
If we don't do that excursion, will we not see anything in Tracy Arm? I'm just confused at what this part of the itinerary means.
TIA

Thank you @wolfie11 and @BeasleysMom66 for your replies.
and WOW to the mosquitos...I wouldn't have thought to bring repellent! Thanks 🙂

Hello,
I have been on many cruises, but only in the Caribbean and Europe. I'm thinking of going on an Alaskan cruise, but with my schedule and availability, we can only do end of August. I was looking at Holland America August 21-28 round trip from Vancouver. Inside passage.
I understand there will be rain, but how about the water, will it be very rough? My sister is planning to come and she has younger kids who have never been on a cruise.
For our first time in Alaska, would you be hesitant to book a cruise at the end of August? Would it be worth it, or would we not even be able to do many excursion due to weather at that time?
Thanks

my family was in Santorini on July 22. We ended up walking down the stairs. Never again!! OMG, it was horrible. Maybe it would be better when its not so hot, but I wore running shoes and I slipped many times. My legs were shaking I was so scared of slipping and falling on my ass LOL. Plus the donkey's were rushing by at one point...made it scarier. Btw I'm 48, DH 51 and kids are teens. We all slipped and in the end wished we had waited for the cable car.

I am sitting at home killing time, waiting to board my flight to Paris later tonight. We are in Paris, Venice then Rome before we board our cruise on July 18th. We have our carryons and backpacks ready to go. I have found the packing cubes very helpful in saving space. Granted I will have to repeat outfits I wore on land part of the trip, on the cruise...I'm so happy we were able to fit everything in carry ons. I"m on Air Canada and our flight is delayed an hour....not taking the chance of losing time fighting for my luggage too!!
Good Luck...it can be done!

Wow, thank you so much for the detailed information!! Exactly what I was looking for! 🙂
Appreciate it!

We were going to do Delos on our own, I think pretty easy to do, just be aware of the ferry schedule from Mykonos to Delos and when you ship will be there. I would just look it up online. Also some ships dock in port (and then you have to walk or take a water taxi to the main area, but the water taxi takes you right next to the Delos ferry), or tender, so factor that in to the timing of your port time and ferry departures/return ferry. Our schedule would’ve worked out just fine. We didn’t go because we were too tired.
I think you were given good advise on beach, we didn’t do the beach so I can’t recommend anything. There’s a strip of cafes and restaurants very close to the Delos ferry, I would plan to meet up there when your family is due to return and grab a bite or very yummy gelato!
awesome, thank you. 🙂

Hello,
My family of 4 will be in Mykonos in July. We have never been.
I want to just spend the morning/early afternoon relaxing at a beach, but DH and kids (aged 15 and 17) want to go to Delos before meeting up with me for lunch.
I've already asked here, and the recommendation was not to book a sunbed ahead of time, but just go to a beach and rent one once I'm there. Do you have a recommendation where a single woman will feel safe and not scammed? Does anyone know if I'll be able to rent 2 sunbeds even though I'll be the only one there for a few hours?
How should the rest of them go to Delos? There is always the option of booking through the cruise line, but I try and do things on our own. Is there an easy way to get a tour once we are on the island?
Thanks

I think this is a really great idea to be able to reserve some loungers, but one of the companies that they partner with DK Oyster appears to have deceptive business practices and there are several lawsuits from US and UK based tourist. Some to the extent which they have told customers that they will call the police and not be allowed to return to their home country if they don’t pay their outrageous bills. Apparently their pricing is misleading in that day list it in a tiny amount that no one would think to take the time to convert it to know what they are actually paying. It’s deceptive marketing especially if you’re on holiday and also trying to figure out the conversion of local money in euros to your home country’s money. I don’t object to overprice drinks per se, but I do object to the way they treat customers.
Oh wow, thanks for the information! I think I'll just go to a beach and see what happens.

Hi, my family of 4 will be stopping in Sicily in July in the port of Siracusa. I have a tour with Rome In Limo to take me to Mt. Etna.
How do I book a tour up Mt. Etna before we get there? I haven't been able to find the official site.
thanks

The death rates have been higher,. That is like a cold isn’t true for everyone .
In Canada there is random testing upon arrival, It’s unconscionable to fly knowing one is positive.
Right?? Like we prefer you not to come to Canada to possibly spread it here Thank you!!

can I ask a question here. I asked it in the port board, but no one answered.
I will be in Kusadasi in July. We have a tour of Ephesus booked and I've asked to be dropped off at 1:30 at Ladies Beach for lunch and leisure. I wondered what the best way to get back to port was?
Thanks

That's odd. Did you try selecting different decks for the MDR? I'll see if I can send you some screenshots to help you.
I did. I can see the menu for other restaurants, but for some reason it doesn't show on the Main Dining room

Do you have your sailing open on the app? Select dining option then select main dining room and should show the word menu in blue, click on that.
At the bottom of the screen you can day 1, day 2, etc.
Also, if you go to cruise planner on royal Caribbean site you will see pricing for specialty restaurants. Most serve lunch at a much cheaper price for almost the same menu as dinner.
I did what you said, but the word menu doesn't appear. I will keep trying. Thanks for the help 🙂

You can actually see the MDR menu for every night of your cruise in the app anytime before your sailing.
I'm in the app right now and can't see the menus. Could you walk me through where to find this? sorry, not the best at technology!

I was thinking about booking Teppenyaki for one night on my recent cruise on Odyssey, the idea being to book it for a night that had a menu we didn't particularly care for in the MDR. Ahead of time, I could have got it in the cruise planner for $38 pp but I didn't want to book and then it potentially clash with a menu we liked and not be able to change.
Once on board, the price was $54 pp, so we ended up not booking it at all.
Note that your one sea day could potentially be formal (aka lobster) night unless it's the very last night of the cruise, if that matters to you.
great info thanks!

okay great, appreciate it.

Hello. I was thinking of booking a dinner at Izumi for a night on my upcoming cruise on Rhapsody departing on July 18th from Rome.
Do you save money by booking prior to being on the cruise?
Is it best to book on the one Sea Day, or is there a special dinner or something that night? It's been a while since I've been on a RCL cruise.
TIA 🙂
Is it possible to do whale watching after Tracy Arm excursion?
in Alaska
