I am considering taking a Bosphorus cruise while we are in Istanbul next year. I checked on a private boat and the cost was more than I want to pay. Is it possible to walk up to a ticket window, buy the ticket and take the ferry or cruise without a tour guide?

I’ve heard some bad reviews from friends on Westerdam. Food issues, overcrowding in the tenders, rude passengers were the main complaints I have heard. Both in Asia and on the Japan to Alaska cruise. I have a friend thinking of booking the Japan to Alaska for next year and asking me if they should book it. Anyone else been on these cruises and have input?

Any issues with doing it electronically that we need to be aware of?

We are on the HAL World cruise. We had fun just walking around Mumbai last time we were there.

The tour we are taking while there is to Kanheri Caves - one set of caves is enough in one visit for us. I remember how hot it was there. We like taking the train in Mumbai - publish transportation tour should have been public transportation tour. I’ll check out Stanley market - don’t remember that from our other visit. Any other ideas?

Our cruise is in Mumbai 2 days. We have a tour scheduled one day and trying to decide what to do the 2nd day. This is our 2nd visit to Mumbai. I am thinking about doing our own walking tour or publish transportation tour but just starting to look at options. Has anyone done that? Would you mind sharing what you did?

I get everything washed including underwear and workout clothes and have never had anything shrink or get damaged on HAL. You can always buy clothes on the road too - done that many times on cruises and on land trips - I also buy toiletries on the road.

Thanks. My husband does our taxes and always does an estimate late in the year to make sure we don’t need to make any changes before year end. Of course there are always slight differences, but he is usually fairly close. We are going to be onboard from Oct to May so not as easy as doing that at home. At least everything (or almost everything) is electronic now - that helps. And, we have 2 days (spaced 12 days apart) in FLL during cruise changeovers on our B2B2B.

Maybe I’ve been lucky but I’ve never had clothing damaged by the ship’s laundry on HAL. I take clothes I normally wear. ( no special cruise clothes). At home I air dry my clothes but on the ship I don’t ask for air dry.

That is how we thought it works, but someone recently told us you don’t pay anything when you turn in estimated taxes. Maybe they owed zero or close to zero

We’ve never filed a tax extension but considering it this spring when we will be on a world cruise that doesn’t return until May 11. Thinking that would be better than trying to file while on the cruise. We will be doing research on how to do it, but, thought I would ask here since I’m sure many of you have filed an extension before. Has anyone done their own taxes and filed an extension? Did you have to estimate tax liability and pay when you filed the extension? What if you don’t owe much, do you still have to pay when you file the extension?

Did Ichi meet you at the cruise port?
