  1. Good morning, if I missed this information, my apology in advance...in march I am sailing with DS and we have 450 dollars in OBC, I do want this divided so that she has her share and I have mine. If we check in with separate accounts/pay sources, how do split the OBC? Thanks in advance, Julie

  2. Hi Becci Boo...pleasure meeting you and many other Cruise Critic roll call participants. We must have been on different schedules as I did not see you again after the connections party. We also did a tour that took us by bus to the Yukon and train returned to the ship. We were able to move out of the fog and clouds after we reached the summit but the clouds persisted thru the day so our return was a little foggy, but we managed to scare a black bear from the side of the road, allowing all of the bus passengers to get a good look. We found Sushi on 5 to be our favorite dining experience...I would encourage everyone to try it...even if you don't like Sushi...there are other choices. Tuscan did not disappoint, I also ordered the Filet Mignon, and a pasta dish, and dessert, and then I waddled back to my room. We had a lovely view of the Inside Passage from our two top at the window. I would not recommend the cabin we were in 1249...although the balcony was angled and larger than other similar cabins, we could hear the noises from the buffet at all times...and it was quite annoying, sounded like thunder...don't know if it was the server carts or the sliding door to the outdoor area but it was constant and loud. Perhaps we will sail together again...Julie

  3. Well, I also enjoyed your Scottish banter and found myself trying to read with a Scottish accent. I have a question about your Seattle driver....was your driver pre-arranged through a company? Or, did you just luck out with a fellow who could come at a call or text? DH and I will be visiting Seattle and hitchin' a ride on Solstice in a little under 4 weeks and I am gobbling up everyone's opinions and experiences (although this will be our 3rd Alaskan cruise and 2nd on Solstice, I still cannot get enough of living vicariously). Safe travels in the future

  4. Well, I am one of those Celebrity cruisers who bring my own olives. I love one or two Blue Cheese Stuffed Olives in my martini. On the first day, I introduce myself to the bartenders at the Martini Bar, give them a tip, and have them hold the olives for (just) me in their fridge. Never had a problem! The other guests are always somewhat amazed to see the bartender take out a special jar, spear an olive or two, and then return the jar to the fridge. Some ask what is happening and are told funny stories by the bartenders like I am on the Celebrity Board of Directors.

Yup...was going to suggest this. DH likes pickled onions (sweet) or pickled mushrooms, along with the larger olives...He brings his own.

  5. Hello Cruise Critic Friends...This has been discussed I am sure, but, I wondered if some one could answer a quick question ....the air fare to MIA in March of 2017 is quite Prohibitve. I have some options...fly into FLL and transfer to MIA, or chnage the date of my cruise...which I do not want to do. I know it is spring break and I am going to pay for that. My question is this...how easy is it to find reasonable tranfer to MIA from FLL...and by reasonable, I am looking at a cost of under 100 per person ( there are 5-6 of us)? Thank you in advance for your help

  6. Good morning...sailing out of Seattle in September and will be staying a couple days in advance. We love to spend time at the Market and Waterfront. I understand there is a lot of construction around there...can someone tell me please how navigable it is down to the waterfront with this construction (highway I understand) or is it nowhere near where we want to be...which would be nice Thanks in advance

  7. Day 5 - Skagway (cont)

We catch the bus back to town and have her let us off at the beginning of the shops. Skagway has the usual cruise stores you’ll see in the Caribbean, but there are some that carry Alaska only items. We’re not really interested in buying anything but do pick up some fry bread (in Washington it’s called an Elephant Ear) to munch on on the way back to the ship. Takes maybe 15 minutes to cruise through town and we pick up the bus again for a ride back to the dock itself. The walk to the dock would not have been too far but we do see people confused about which way to go and the bus driver stops to give them directions. Some people try to wave us down and the driver blows past them saying she can’t stop anywhere except at the designated stops.

Back on the ship we have a relaxing sail away as Skagway and the Holland America boat fade into the distance. The evening has nothing eventful except we do find a letter from the Guest Services telling us everyone is getting $50OBC for the problems in Vancouver.

LOL...I first read that OBC to be 500 and I thought I could put up with alot of issues for a 500 dollar OBC. We are doing the 8 hour Chilkoot Tour in September and are excited to see the lay of the land. I recall the walk back to the ship from the end of the dock to be quite long. Did you say there were shuttles taking people back and forth? This will be our first time traveling that DH may need to use a walker for his bad knees (he is reluctant to have them replaced due to recent heart surgery complications) So, I am looking for any assistance available so he does not have to walk so far. Thanks again for your marvelous review...both words and photos. Julie

  8. Our first Alaskan cruise was a Hubbard Glacier cruise, so when I booked our first Tracy Arm Fjord cruise, I also did not know what to expect...but I was sure it could not be as spectacular as Hubbard Glacier...Whooooo Boy, was I wrong. Gorgeous scenery awaits for everyone. DH and I sail Tracy Arm again in September and are looking forward to it's beauty and awe. Your photos capture it very well.

  9. The Waterfront is directly across the street from the terminal. I can't answer the question about the porters but it might be possible with a generous tip. You could try calling the hotel to find out if they will send a bellman as we have been able to send our luggage to the ship via a bellman when we've stayed there pre-cruise. A taxi will not be worthwhile at all for either you or the driver as taxis are no longer permitted to go down to the terminal level. One seems to have to take their luggage to street level to catch a taxi in front of the Pan Pacific. (There is an elevator from the cruise terminal level to the street level within the Pan Pacific but it's a farther than 50 feet to get to the elevator.) This is a very recent development and has caused issues with disembarkation.

Some other alternatives, besides asking the bellman to pick up the luggage, are: stay at the Pan Pacific right above the cruise terminal, or use a ship post cruise hotel package. Then they would transfer you and your luggage to the hotel.

    Good Luck!

Thanks for the info...I used miles to book the Fairmont to it is what it is...I will call and inquire about a bell man though. Thanks for that. Julie

  10. Good morning all...DH and I are on Celebrity Solstice this fall and will be disembarking in Vancouver. We are spending the night at Fairmont Waterfront, which by google maps looks to be directly across from the cruise ship terminal. DH has knee issues and cannot walk more than 20-50 feet without use of a creeper...which if he uses a creeper, I will have to handle the luggage...which will be at least 3 cases. So....here is my question...is this walkable? Are there porters that would walk the luggage to the hotel? Should we just plan to cab it? Thanks for your help. Julie
