Optum farms out the testing to a worldwide network of proctors. You will want to follow the instructions on contacting either by cell phone or PC for that service. You create an account for EACH person being tested, so have a couple of email addresses handy if there are two of you testing.
Yes, they operate 24/7.
Following this thread...I also appreciate any info on subject. Have never had to do any self tests and worry (yes, I am a worrier) over ability to reach proctor if testing. Can the accounts be made ahead of travel? Are the proctors easily reached...like, no 2 hour hold times, or non-user friendly instructions? (Non-techy person). For travel home, how does Celebrity administer tests on board?
Thanks in advance...been out if ghe travel loop fir 2.5 years due to Covid. Hoping to make it on board in April. Julie

I have been off the travel market for 2 years. I have been tested for covid numerous times thru my work as I am a nurse. I have not had to know which test they use. I have never tested any where elsd. My work related swab seems to always result within 24 hours with said results showing in my on line portal.
DH and I are cruising 4/25/22 but will likely spend 1 night in Minneapolis (4/23/22) before flying to Miami, where we plan to spend 1 night (4/24/22) prior to cruising.
While I know it is early and much could change between now and April, I want to make sure ' I understand the assignment'. If I got tested on 4/22/22 at 5 pm at my local work testing site and proceeded to Minneapolis the next day, hypothetically getting my result by 5 pm on 4/23/22... and am hopefully negative, and I 'have proof' of the result on my patient on line account via my smart phone...will I be able to board the ship?

We used the Celebrity transfer from ship to airport. The bus had a lift so I never had to get out of my wheelchair. I think you could just call Celebrity.
Did they pick you up at a hotel or is this airport transfer only? We are spending a night or two in Miami prior to sailing

Hello Cruise Critic! We are (really hoping) sailing April 25th out of Miami. We have a full sized mobility scooter that will need a mobility accessible type van to take us from hotel to cruise ship pier. Does anyone have any experience with any particular company? I am kinda surprised at the minimal numbers of this type of service in my Google search. Thanks in advabce! Julie

People sometimes use less-than-technical terms for various laws on Cruise Critic. People are forever calling things the Jones Act that aren’t actually part of the Jones Act. Little know fact: “Passenger Vessel Thingy Act” is the technical name of the particular law. Well done OP 👍
Thanks

Ok, so what happens if I disembark in Seattle?
-
I have read threads regarding early disembarkation. I just do not recall all of the facts. I know it is frowned on but not out of the question. Our cruise in 2022 ends in Vancouver (assuming Canada is accepting cruise ships at that time). Our cruise starts in Honolulu and our final port of call and last day on board is in Seattle. We would like to end our cruise there. We are US citizens. How do I make this happen without repurcussion? Thank you in advance. Julie

Yup...1100 dollars less on Celebrity website for my Apex sailing in February. Headed to TA site immediately! Thanks!

Good morning and Happy 4th of July fellow Cruise Critic peeps. The questions I am asking have been discussed on these boards before, I am sure, but I find the search mechanism not very helpful. If you would indulge me with answers, I would so appreciate it.
1. How many days before the sailing can one reserve MDR and specialty restaurants? (I am 7 months out and tried today but was not successful)
2. If I want to choose a wine package for the stateroom, can I choose the wines? How far in advance will this be allowed?
3. Does the Magic Carpet serve as a restaurant at anytime or just small bites and extensions to other venues?
4. DH and I are in a suite, but the other 4 people joining us on our sailing are not. I want them to join us for a meal in Laminae. I know this is based on availability and has a per person fee associated with it. I hate to offer this to my guests and not have it happen. Do we take our chances and pick a day/meal while on board? Can the butler offer assistance with this?
5. For those who have been on Edge (we are sailing Apex for reference), are there stairs to navigate in the theatre or have they made it more accessible for folks who need to use walkers/scooter to go to the front?
Thanks in advance.....Julie

Did you use a TA? We’ve had no problems getting refunds od FCC.
I did and I have called them twice. Same answer...they are backed up. I have another cruise in August and Im not sure I am even going to do final payment on that cuz it is taking too long to get this done

I would just like to get the e-mail that tells me I have a FCC for my cancelled cruise. Now waiting 1 month and 3 days.

Hi, I was on your rollcall for the sailing. I received the email with the link for a refund from Celebrity about a week ago. I have not received any taxes or port fees so I’m still waiting as well for the refund, all of it. Good Luck
Sounds like thet are handling things in a variety of ways

I will chime in with my experience. And I apologize in advance if my information is duplicated as I only read the first page and the last two pages. We cancelled on March 14th for the Pacific Coastal on March 30th. The very next day is when Celebrity announced the cancellation of the cruise. Of course, I immediately e-mailed my TA, indicating that I wanted the refund vs the FCC. This decision was based solely on the future of our new normal, and not knowing if or when we will return to our old normal. He said that I would receive an e-mail from Celebrity with the FCC information on it, and within that e-mail, I would find a place to request a full refund. While I have not yet received that e-mail from RCCL or Celebrity, today I did have a Merchant credit on my AMEX from RCCL for a little under 500 dollars, which I assume is the port fees and taxes? So, I will be watching for further information from them I guess. When the 30 days post cancel have passed, I will be inquiring for sure. Julie

Hello everyone...have not visited Coco Cay before but will do so on our 2021 cruise. The overwater cabanas...how does one inquire about those?
-
We have a driver hired for 4 hours, and I was looking for an itinerary that would fill 4 hours and allow us to see the highlights of Astoria. So far, I am thinking the Column for the view, Cannon Beach (?), again for photo ops, some downtown stops at brew pubs or wine stores, a drive over the bridge...anything else I could fit into our time frame?

Thank you for your replies

Good morning, if I try to bid for an upgrade, and it is accepted...are there ever any consequences like losing my original booking perks? When my March cruise prices went down and I asked my TA for compensation, I was offered an upgrade from 2B to Aqua class but I would lose my 200 dollars OBC. Does the same thing happen if I win an upgrade bid?

Hello fellow cruisers. It has been awhile since I have sailed on Royal and a longer while since I have sailed on a smaller ship. We are Diamond level and I wondered if there was a Diamond lounge like on other vessels? What else, if anything, can we expect from Diamond level these days? Someone mentioned in a review of the Empress that there is a designated area on RCCL's private island for suite guests, can anyone expound on this? Are there coffee makers in the suites? Anything of interest you can share would be great to read. I do not see many comments on this forum about the Empress. Thanks in advance Julie
