  1. What is overpriced and seems extravagant to someone is a manageable expense for others. Imagine a senior executive at a medium sized corporation who makes something over $250k per year, plus bonus, stock, etc. which nets out to 350K per year. Also imaging his wife works and makes at least 100K per year. For them a $25K vacation is merely 6% of their annual income, which is manageable for them.

You are right. Although we don't make that much money but I only work to pay for my cruising habit . We take ski (spending our kids inheritance) vacations. Our kids are grown so we have started enjoying the finer things in life after sacrificing for the kids for so many years.

  2. I would also suggest for you to take a copy of the court order showing that the grandmother has legal guardianship. We had to do that the first time we took my granddaughter on a cruise. We had no trouble getting her on with the birth certificate as her last name is the same as our and my husband and his son have the same first name. When we returned Immigration began questioning her if we were her parents which of course she said no. He then questioned us about a letter from her parents, which I did have one from my step son. When the immigration officer asked about the mother signature I told him that her father had sole custody and he did ask for the court order which thankfully I did have.

Now she has a passport and no issues.

  3. Talk to the front desk at the hotel and let them know the situation and maybe they will let you have a late check out that day. I would suggest heading to Disney Springs. They have recently redone it and it is beautiful. They have a movie theater and bowling alley.

Just remember you are sailing on one of the oldest ships in the fleet that had been schedule to leave the fleet this past year but they decided to keep it. Oasis is state of the art and only 7 years old.

Hope you have a great trip.

  4. I believe first you have to consider what you are willing to pay. Say for example if you book a balcony on Oasis/Allure for $2400 are you will to go up to $6000 for a GS or higher. We are on Oasis on 8/27 in a Sky Loft Suite booked in June with a Senior rate and paid $7000 for the 2 of us. We also have the presidential suite (4 bedroom) on Harmony in January that we booked June 2015 and for 8 people the total was $12,500.

We live close to PE are still working but the kids have flown the coupe so we usually travel when all the kids are in school. Plus I am one of those that check prices a few times a day.

  5. I feel quite strongly about this - the non Suite Class ships do need some kind of suite enhancement program. As far as I can tell, the last enhancement was prior to 2010.

It's only a matter of time before they do another round of changes (in my opinion) but I would like to see the following, depending on grade of suite:

    Included internet

    Drinks package

    Specialty dining

    Laundry

I hope Royal acts sooner rather than later.

I was thinking these same benefits

  6. We will be on Allure so there is a very limited chance of getting the same Genie. We got the surveys July 25th and we sail on August 28th so we are headed in the right direction.

Uggg... We are on Oasis on August 27th and I haven't gotten anything as of yet and the waiting and watching my email is killing me.

  7. We already have our water water front cabana booked for late August. :p

How did you get yours booked already. We are on Oasis the day before you and have sent numerous emails to the concierge and have had no reply. We are staying in SLS 1720. Does that make any difference.

    Thanks

  8. Hi Carol, Iliana will replace Raj who is off on vacation at the end of next week, then she will take over from Ricardo in August when he goes off and Raj returns. Will try and find out from Nancy who takes over from her in the Diamond Lounge, but she was saying last night that there are many many Diamond, Diamond Plus and Pinnacles on the TA.

So happy that Raj is going on vacation at the end of next week. That means he will be there in January when we cruise. :D

  9. Ok, so we've been on a couple cruises... ;) , and I must say that - at least on sea days - the elevators on the Oasis and Allure were the most crowded we've encountered.

On the Allure last week we were on deck 17 and it was pretty much guaranteed that we'd get to stop on virtually every deck (save #13!) while on our way down. By the time we arrived down on deck 4/5/6 we'd be in the back of the elevator practically plastered against the glass... if we were lucky enough to be in one with a view.

We've had similar experiences on almost every other ship we've sailed on, but never with this kind of predictability !!

There, I feel better now. :D

    Tom

I think you should demand a refund or compensation of some kind. :D

but seriously we booked the sky loft on Oasis in August and my husband is already complaining about the long elevator ride

  10. Royal has probably found out not a lot of Star class are using the flowrider so there is not a need to staff a particular time for that. We will be star class in August and we will not be be on the flowrider however in January we will be in the presidential family suite and I hope that we can schedule a private time for our group of 12.

I think with star class being so new there will be tweeks here and there. I don't think most people will be upset about a special line for star class because they are used to it with fast passes at Disney and such. You pay the price you get extra benefits.

But that is just my two cents.

  11. We are just off the Oasis in 1720. Someone asked about beer being in the mini fridge. On our initial survey we were asked what kind of Coke beverages we would like and also asked if we would like a red or white or sparking wine. I indicated that I like Pino Noir but that my husband likes Blue Moon. The fridge was stocked with 6 on the second day and they brought 6 every day after. We were not drinking them all and asked both Israel and our stateroom attendant to ask have it stopped. They kept showing up! I think we had 26 on the counter by the end of the cruise. Ask and you may get it.

Thank you. That is good to know for when I get my survey. Will have to ask for sliced orange also.
