question has been asked and answered... this thread is closing

I kind of doubt it but as Milwaukee Eight mentions, there is "someone" who could clear it up for us. ;)
Edit: you're probably right in terms of people like LauraS have higher level rights but I would have to defer to that "someone" to tell us for sure - assuming they were allowed to.
no problem ... a host is a moderator.. they are one and the same... Hosts have hosting and moderating responsibilities... we operate with Laura as our "boss"... hope this explains it and ends the discussion on board moderation..

Thanks! That is good to know for some, but I already knew that. ;)
Have not had to buy wine on board for some years now though. We take on our two allowed bottles, have 3 bottles waiting for us, from the very generous C&A perks. Those are wines we use just in the cabin, (no corkage there of course) though lately, we have not really had to take on any wine...except on longer than 7 nights. Have actually ended up taking a bottle back off the ship that we brought on and did not use. :o
Mostly we just hand carry a glass into the restaurant from the CL/DL or one of the lounges that we
use our drink vouchers at.
OMG...we don't go thirsty...that's for sure! ;):D
we do the same on our way to dinner.....the drink vouchers come in handy on the way to dinner.. and now I understand you can use them in the dining room and specialty restaurants, a recent change.
-
I don't want to disagree with a host on here, but on Allure last month, the 3 drinks that are loaded to the Sea Pass were able to be used at Chops, Giovanni's and also in the main dining room. I used them in all three places.
I also dined at Sabor, but I didn't use or even try to use them there. I think this was a recent change.
glad you have more up to date info... that's a nice change, Hosts aren't always right..:D. I'm glad you disagreed with me .. your info is more recent than mine..thank you for the update
-
Sorry if this is redundant, but are you able to use your Diamond drink vouchers in specialty restaurants for the drinks that are permitted? For example: a glass of wine in Vintages or Chops?
no.. the vouchers are good for most of the bars..but not the mdr or specialty restaurants... just stop at one of the bars and pick up drinks on the way ...on the Oasis class ships there is a bar in central park right near the specialty restaurants where we stop and pick up our drinks.. I'm editing this to alert you to the latest info and change as I've been informed by our fellow members here... check out their posts with the latest info

Does 150 Park have two different menus? I have only seen one but saw a reference to a second menu last year.
Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
they no longer have the 2 tasting menus... they have a regular menu including a wonderful steak for two...which we loved... service was great, ambience elegant and a nice dining experience...

I *do* hope that you are kidding. :o
it is true that they are always level:D:D
be my guest :D
that was a tip first hand from the cruise director lol
-
we have always taped a luggage tag to the case of water and given it to the porters... has always arrived in tact to our cabin... I use clear packing tape...
-
another tip for the pool tables.... if the seas get rough, just lie on the pool table... they are always level

We like to enjoy a glass of wine on the balcony during a sea day afternoon. If we should run out of comp wine or wine we brought on board, (OH no!! :o) we have in the past bought a bottle of house wine from one of the lounges and took it back to our cabin. Cheaper than by the glass. ;)
if you order wine prior to the cruise from them there is no corkage fee taking it to the dining room or specialty restaurants

I am sailing on Oasis on Sept. 3, and today received a voucher for a complimentary lunch or dinner for 2 in a specialty restaurant. Not as good as an upgrade, but I am pleased, as I was not planning on paying for that on this cruise. I cannot book online, but have to book when I get on board, and plan to do that early. We just have a 90 min drive to the port, and will be getting on the ship early.
What is your recommendation? Right now, any of the restaurants look good to me, but not sure which ones are the best.
Thanks for any help, and happy cruising to you all!

There are very valuable service dogs beyond those for the blind. And they are well-trained and inconspicuous. Completely separate from support animals.
absolutely.... in particular they are trained to assist people with parkinsons... they are trained to prevent falls
also amazing they can be trained as diabetes service dogs.. they can actually tell when your blood sugar is too low ... and if someone passes out they will bark and go to a kit that has the medication
I understand that any breed, big or small can be trained...
-
Royal could cut down on this a bit by simply charging a fee - the posers are more likely to give up then.
I believe it is against the law to charge for a service animal... and according to the ADA guidelines it is against the law to ask what a person['s disability is, but you can ask what service the dog does provide
Cunard ships do have kennels on board and they do charge for non service dogs.... there is a place maintained as a potty spot that you can take the dog to do its business or pay to have a kennel worker take care of the pet.. other ships have not followed this and I'm not sure how well it would go over with mainstream cruisers... I for one, leave my sweetie at the vet's so I can enjoy my vacation..do I miss her? of course I do

Host has a more pleasant connotation.
I like that :)..... Host means come on in,,, set awhile, enjoy the drinks, food and conversation and the new Host always buys... Bob... oh Bob??? :D
-
Yes yes. Filet at ck on first nite. I found ck food excellent all nites. Yummy on the veal chop also.
-
Congrats bob and welcome aboard to our host family. If I admit to how long I've been a host I might be giving away my age:halo:
I'm joining you here also as a host. I've been working over at ncl boards where there has been a lot of comparison posts. I know members have always been passionate about their favorite cruise line and I've always been loyal to royal, but it's been a great experience hosting the ncl boards, which I will continue to also host.
Bob, again welcome aboard.

I've heard of "fantastic prices on jewelry" in the Caribbean...Looking for suggestions on the best place in St Thomas to find the best deal on diamond rings or even just to buy a diamond.
THANKS!
I've used a family owned jewelry for over 25 years in st. thomas... Dynasty... the owner's name is Raj... . everyone that I know that has used them has no complaints... quality is excellent and service is great... you can get loose or set diamonds.. don't forget to do some homework first... check your local jewelers and also look at the stone thru the loop for any black or white "clouds"...
-
I would go with st. thomas for the snorkeling... either an excursion on a catamaran or to coki beach where you snorkel from shore...altho when I was there last year at coki you had to swim pretty far out and around the rock jetty
-
Hi! We are cruising next month and are looking for places to snorkel from the beach in Nassau, Freeport and Half Moon Cay. We will have 4 adults, a 4 year old and a baby with us, so we can't really do any of the ship excursions. We want to try to take turns snorkelling while a couple of us watch the kids and play on the shore. We also need to be in an area with facilities that isn't waaay far to get to. Any ideas? Thank you!
there really is no snorkeling from the shore in nassau,, the reefs are off shore as with freeport also
however at half moon cay thesre may be a small area for snorkeling o they do have an excursion right from half moon cay which is sthe prviate island that takes you around to the other side of the island but it is from a boat.. the reefs in the bahamas are off shore
-
we were at coki in january and it wasn't very good.. you needed to swim way out and around the rocks to see anything... it gets crowded and the sand gets churned up and there is nothing close to shore
-
we are having problems with the boards and cannot perform any actions .. hopefully they will be fixed soon!!!
-
we have always taken a case of water... just taped a luggage tag to it and it has always been delivered to our cabin... last time was just last month on Harmony
BEWARE: Serenade cabin # 9078
in Royal Caribbean International

we loved 9078!!.... there are some tables and c omfy chairs overlooking the railing of the centrum and in the evening there was entertainment.. we grabbed some drinks and nibbles from the diamond lounge and instead of trying to find a seat in the crowded lounge we took them there... we had no problem as we were late turning in.. just closed the fire door behind us...found it a great convienient location and a great balcony
