  1. Hi everyone! I realize that this is mostly for hotels, but we are looking to stay in an apartment type of hotel/inn/etc if possible, near Plaza Navona. Do any of you have any recommendations? Thank you!
  2. We are considering just hanging out in Villefranche for the day since it's a tender port and we really aren't interested in any of the excursions. However the town looks pretty small so i wasn't sure if there would be very many shops, restaurants, etc? I've heard there is a nice market on Sundays (which is when we will be there). Has anyone been? Thanks for any and all info!
  3. This is great Jazzbo! Thank you for submitting your review! And your beautiful pictures We will be stopping in Santa Margherita on our trip next fall - it sounds like it is a good town to wander around and eat lunch and shop? I would appreciate your thoughts. And i'm looking forward to the rest of your review - thank you agian!
  4. Hi @Jazzbo! Curious if you or anyone on your cruise did a review of your cruise? I have been looking for one as we are taking this next September. Thank you!
  5. Ok, cool - thank you! Always good to know. We have not sailed on Princess previously, but may in the next year. Like so many others, we are looking around to see if we can find another line that has everything we like. We are not keen on the large crowded ones - we prefer the smaller more intimate or medium size at most. Thanks again!
  6. Hi abbydancer! Curious as to why you wouldn't do Princess again? Thank you!
  7. Has anyone stayed at HiSuiteROME? It is like a hotel, but apartments. Very curious as they look great and see to be in a great location. Would work very well for us. Thank you!
  8. Yes, departing FCO to the US. I opened it to try it out, but it makes you pick a city/airport as your first stop/ destination, and there are no US ones listed?
  9. I looked at the Fast (Q) Pass but it does not look like you can do it if your first stop is in the US? Do you need to have your first stop be in Europe?
  10. Following! What is your itinerary? Curious to see if you are stopping at any of the ports we will be on next summer. Thanks!
  11. Thanks to both of you! We had considered staying in Florence for the night, but it's not going to work for us. We are travelling with a large group, and we will split up during the day. However we want to be back together in the evenings on the ship. There are so many comments about having to take a shuttle to get to tours in Livorno. To be clear - if i book a private excursion (not through the ship), they will be able to pick us up at the dock? That would be wonderful. Thanks again!
  12. This is a great thread! Thanks for starting it NCteacherlovescruising! We are doing this same cruise but in September 2024. Great info and help to make many of these same decisions! Although we will do 3 days in Rome and then head back home. A question to the group - there are several private companies that do small group tours. We are looking to go from Livorno to Pisa to Florence on day 1. Since the ship is overnighting in Livorno, we don't have to worry about getting back at a specific time, so we were not going to spend the night in Florence. Where will these companies pick us up in Livorno? How much time do we need to plan on to be able to meet them? We want to maximize the day, but don't want to be late to meet the guide. Then on day two - we wanted to go back to Florence and see more before meeting the ship later in the afternoon. Is that too much traveling for two days? We are in decent shape, in our 60's. But don't want to be totally exhausted at the end of day two. Although we do have a sea day after that. Hmmm - so many choices! Thanks to all for the amazing information!
  13. Thank you! Have you stayed in one of these on the Equinox?
  14. Hi everyone! On the Celebrity Equinox, does the upper berth bed disappear into the ceiling or is it the type that hangs on the wall? Need to know as hubby kept banging his head on the 8" protrusion last time, so don't want a room with the wall kind. Thank you!
  15. We were in an "aquarium" room the first time we went on Avalon. It was small, but quite adequate and you get more light than you would think from the windows. If you are tall enough you can look out. The second time we sailed in a panorama room. I will tell you we honestly did not think it was that much better! (certainly not for the $1000 or more price difference) Half the time you are tied up to another ship and can't see anything anyway. We will not pay the extra again, and will stay down below. We only slept and showered in the room - all the rest of the time is on excursions or dining or in the lounge or decks. You will enjoy whichever you choose!
  16. I agree - we usually love the SVs, but i am worried about them being too hot on this trip. Thanks!
  17. Thank you jelayne - question for you though - do you think any balcony would have been too hot? Even in the shade? What ship were you on? Greatly appreciate the info!
  18. Hi everyone! My husband and i really like the sunset verandahs, but are thinking of changing. We are considering the 11-day Australia Great Barrier Reef cruise. Would you recommend a sunset verandah for that? Port or starboard balcony if not? The ship would be the Edge. We don't care for the infinite verandahs, but could put up with it if needed. The suites are just too expensive for us (we've done it once and would rather spend our money elsewhere), so don't want to do that. We would appreciate any tips for an Australian cruise! Thank you!
  19. Agree. I did the sunrise about 30 years ago and loved it. My husband has not seen it. Our ship (Celebrity) does not offer a sunrise excursion, that's why i was trying to set it up on my own. Doesn't look like it is feasible.
  20. The pods in this link do not have cream in them. They are coffees that go well with milk. That's what they were created for - but they are just coffee. Lighter perhaps? My sister loves them because she always puts steamed milk in hers.
  21. Question about Haleakala - if we take a tour, will they let us off the ship to catch the tour at 3am for sunrise? We are doing an overnight, so two days in Maui. We would try to do it technically day 2. Is the boat tendered in Lahaina? It doesn't say that it is on our itinerary, but then several people on these boards state that it is a tendered port. If that is the case, i doubt they would tender us in at 3am. 🤨 On the flip side - if we do a sunset tour and dinner, how late do they let us back on board? Especially if it is a tendered port? I would appreciate any advice please! Thank you!!!
