  1. When we were checking in to the Dream there was an issue and we were told Guest Services on board would have to resolve it. Guest Services told us that the folks at the check in's were not Carnival employees but, private contractors and that was the reason.

  2. As other's have said, I would not give up on cruising because of a less than great first one. My first cruise was no picnic either. I had terrible sea sickness and fell down a flight of stairs (Not due to alcohol). You can see from my signature I have cruised many other times since then. I think you just need a larger ship or different line with more "bells & whistles" than the Ecstasy affords.

  3. I understand that it goes up $5 in price if purchased on board. I really do not want the hassle of returning to the cabin to get drinks from purchased bottles. I understand if we drank 5 or so drinks per day it would be worth the cost.

I thought that you were allowed to purchase the package if there were like 5 full days left of the cruise???? Maybe not. Thanks anyway.

  4. We are sailing on the Vista's 11 day repositioning cruise from N.Y. to Miami in Nov. The price of the drink package is $1148.86 for the entire cruise. That's enough to take another cruise LOL! Although my DH wants the package, I do not want to pay this much for it. We are not big drinkers or specialty coffee fans. I would like to compromise with him. Does anyone know how far into the cruise we could still purchase the package to reduce the price?

  5. My first cruise was on the Carnival Sensation and I booked because of the price. I continued to cruise on Carnival for the next four cruises. We then decided to try something different & started cruising with RC. We are returning to Carnival this fall because we wanted to try the Vista & to cruise out of New York. Carnival remains a good value for the money but, we find quality entertainment is where they lack, at least to us.

  6. I would also recommend bringing your own snacks. We bring our own Sun Chips now. The staff put out a tray of them in the Solarium at lunch time but, oh my goodness! The guests swarmed to get them every day. It was like chum to sharks LOL! :p I saw a lot of folks eating them during movies & thought, that's a good idea! We also like to bring peanuts. I believe the Pringles were something like $6 a can.
