  1. I actually think a theatre setting on a cruise ship is the ideal place to take a small child to see how they can handle it. You get to "suck it and see" very easily as opposed to having to get into the city, pay $$$ for a seat and then face having to travel home, maybe 30 minutes after the show has started!.

There is an important consideration though.... the parents must be conscious to make sure that their child is not spoiling the show for those around them - and that goes for children of all ages. Nobody likes being sat in front of a 9year old who can't stop kicking the chair... Even small children can follow a "be quiet" instruction. I take my 3yr old to Mass every week and she knows to be quiet, and to be '"specially" quiet when there is kneeling or standing going on!

Take an aisle seat, so you can leave quickly and quietly if necessary. Who could possibly object to that.

  2. He says he isn't, but I think my other half is afraid of heights. I tease him mercilessly about it of course!

Myself, I am afraid of polystyrene snakes that are used for packing parcels. I dont know why - but even thinking about them smothers me in a mild blanket of terror.................. I also do not like the stringy bits on a banana you sometimes get.

Back on topic- I will definitely be on that North Star, even if I am going up without himself!

  3. LOVED LOVED LOVED the Brilliance! Had a great/active Roll Call here which helped! Met so many lovely people! Kids club was FAB, my daughter still maintains this was her best cruise ever! My personal favourite location was the Champagne Bar with Rusty and Susie. Cheryl our room steward was wonderful and we had fantastic wait staff - the only thing I hated was the day they kicked us off. I cried. :(

  4. I am shocked by the amount of GABOS on this thread. Yes, I can see that RCI are within their rights by following their T&C's, and I can see to a degree that if they were as flexible as the OP wants, then - what next?? Person B wants flexibility because it was given to person A, and then person C and so forth...........

But, how nice would it have been if a bit of common sense had been used. RCI could have considered whethr the person had tried to contact to cancel the cancellation as quickly as they could bearing in mind the difficulties EVERYONE outside the US has with contacting a US company? It seems they did. I think this is quite a considerable mitigating circumstance that should have been taken into account.

  5. I was wondering, will you have to roller skate around the dodgems? I am bound to get knocked over!

But seriously, does anyone know how these things work. I am guessing that times will be blocked out for roller skating and the cars will be "parked up" - but what about boots, do you need to bring your own? I only have a 20kg weight allowance in my case :D

Does it work the same as the ice skating - mind you I dont know how that works either?!?!

  6. I feel sorry for ME. I love dressing up so much, but my other half hates it with a passion. So, when there was a designated formal night, I had a half reasonable odds of getting him to wear a tux - because everyone else was.... Now there is no specified night, what do you think my chances are? I know what they are - NIL.

But what can you do eh? You can't say anything to anybody because it smacks of being a princess who is complaining because her tiara doesnt have the right shape diamonds to match her earrings.

I know I can moan here though because there are people who will understand.

  7. The whole thing is a sack. I will hold my hands up and say I am not tech savvy, but neither am I a luddite! I had awful trouble trying to book! The system is clunky, hard to navigate, and a lot more complicated than it needs to be!

I wonder what people who do not have access to computers, or the time, inclination, or patience are supposed to do? Also, how can we book our meals when we dont know what else is happening that night. I know my own cruise is AGES off yet, so nothing has been said about entertainment or times of such- but I know that a lot of the slots I tried to book were "unavailable" - so I can only hope that the slots I was able to book give me a chance to get to an occasional show!

Still, I shall try to keep an open mind and not let my negative experience of booking meals colour what is bound to be be an amazing vacation.
