  1. That slide would definitely bother me. Never seen that, but wow is that a strange eye sore.
  2. I did state it that way. What do you mean? The other points are in reference to their being a day 8 on a seven night cruise.
  3. Never had this experience, but I wouldn’t imagine they would accept cruise credit currency that is different than the currency of the booking. Makes sense to me that using it would be good only for cruises booked using that currency. However, I’m curious to see what others say in case I have such a scenario in the future.
  4. The overhang looks like a plus to me. Like I said in the prior post, more shade and most people care about looking out and/or down, not up.
  5. If I were you I’d see if there is availability to switch cabins because you find the lower decks quite desirable. Decks 6 and 8 are great for being close to a lot of fun things like Central Park or the Boardwalk (and the Promenade on deck 5). It may be possible to move and probably worth your time to see. Been on Allure many times. Great ship and you’ll have a blast. Don’t miss the skating and aqua shows. The bar back by the flowriders on deck 15 has some great chairs to watch the ocean go by and of course you are next to a bar. And watching the flowriders is great fun too. Win win. Enjoy
  6. No kidding. All I want to do is get a little food in my belly and start my journey home. That last thing I’m worried about is a free bottled water or coffee. Just walk to the DL if you want a specialty coffee.
  7. My guess is you are at the end of the hump. So you can’t see as well toward the forward part. Or maybe you can’t look directly up due to the overhang from deck 15. Most folks would be looking out or down toward the water so not sure that would matter to most. Maybe it blocks some of the sun, but again, for most that wouldn’t be a negative as the shade can be a blessing. Hopefully someone can chime in with experience in that cabin. Just look where your cabin is and find some online pics and you can probably see your cabin balcony. Also, fyi, if their are other exact same category cabins available, you can switch. Deck 8 or near is considered very ideal for Oasis class. But don’t stress, you should have a blast no matter where you stay.
  8. The small ships aren’t really that small. Only in comparison to the newer mega ships. Not long ago they were some of the biggest and best around with folks clamoring to go on them. Point being, they aren’t just transportation. They all have nice things about them. Now my kids may want a new ship with slides, etc., but for my wife and I, we could have a blast on any ship even if we went to the same old ports. They all have entertainment, all have pools, all have bars and restaurant, and most importantly all are on the ocean. What’s not to love. Maybe some folks need lots different things to have fun, but if you tend to make your own fun regardless, any ship is a great time. I still prefer Oasis Class for varying reasons, but I wouldn’t hesitate to do a smaller ship.
  9. Lots of things (C&A and in general) aren’t provided the last morning. Can you get your free diamond picture at 9am as your about to walk off? Where does it say you can’t in Royals policy? Can you get room service like the other days? Are the restaurants open the same hours for breakfast like they are on days 2-7? Nope. Can you go enjoy a nice breakfast and then come back at 9 to grab your stuff? Nope. Things are very different on disembarkation day and it has always been that way. They want you out of your cabin and off the ship as quickly as possible. Of course Royal will sell you a post cruise tour. That doesn’t mean you get to come back on the ship after. I recognize that in practice things seem to vary. But I still doubt Royal ever intended for the diamond drinks to extend to disembarkation day. It was great that they extended them to all day almost anywhere, but somehow that has turned into folks expecting them the last morning too or they are so upset they decide not to tip the employee they otherwise would have tipped (as described in the prior post). I guess Royal is better off just allowing the drinks from 5-8pm like before and then no one expects anything or is upset. And many more will start buying the drinks package again if they did that. Win win for them. Again, can’t we just leave well enough alone and be happy to get the free drinks on day 1-7.
  10. How do you know that is the exception and not the rule. Going off of anecdotal evidence from those posting about it is hardly solid proof. Clearly many people also experience not getting diamond drinks the day of disembarkation.
  11. Interestingly, cereal boxes weren’t to be found the day we tried on our last cruise (symphony). Maybe they were out, but it seemed like they didn’t have those anymore.
  12. So you booked guaranteed rate initially to save money and when you then wanted to change it to specify connecting cabins they charged you the current rate? If that is the case, your complaints have zero merit imo. You gambled with t he guaranteed rate and didn’t like the result. How is that their fault. Not sure what Royal will do, but honestly this is on you, not them. Now if you didn’t book a guaranteed rate, maybe you do have a legitimate gripe. It’s still hard to tell because I think your device auto corrected your sentence.
  13. Yeah. They list them as 7 night cruises because you don’t even get a full 7 days. You have to get off at a time before you would be allowed in the week prior. So not even a full seven 24 hour periods. I never assumed or thought drinks vouchers would be good on the day you get off when they already gave me free drinks they day I got on. To me this is just folks pushing for something Royal never intended to give out. Agree that Royal should clearly communicate it in Blank and White one way or another. I’d much rather they do this to save costs versus cutting in other areas. I’m very thankful for the five free drinks a day. Hopefully folks trying to get alcoholic drinks on their kids cards and trying for disembarkation day drinks doesn’t ruin it for everyone. Can’t we enjoy the best perk and leave well enough alone?
  14. On the original booking which was paid in full in December, are you saying the cabins were side by side and then they got changed and you didn’t know it? I’m having trouble understanding how this played out. The term “requested” adjoining rooms is very different than a confirmed booking. Do you have documentation of the cabin numbers assigned (adjoining) from when you paid in December? If so, attach this to the email mentioned above and I’d expect you will get a satisfactory resolution. If you didn’t, I’m not sure I understand the situation per your description. Also, I’m not sure I understand how you paid the extra $300ish and weren’t told the cabin numbers while on the phone. They didn’t tell you or they changed them again after you got off the phone? Future advice. Never pay for a booking without knowing and checking the cabin numbers specifically before processing payment (unless booking a guaranteed cabin). I’ve never hung up with he never gone without double or triple checking they have the cabin number right. Particularly when having friends or family side by side.
  15. So why are you saying a day is a day when it suits the cruise line? How can you blame the cruise line for the port deciding to disguise how they charge customers. It has absolutely nothing to do with royal. That rate applies to all passengers regardless of cruise line.
  16. When did this change? Not too many years back I specifically filled out a sheet indicating the exact amount of tip for each area. I did this at GS. Maybe they have changed this now. But this couldn’t have been more than 5 years ago.
  17. The cruise line doesn’t charge you for parking. They don’t own the port or the parking garage. And not every port does that. Pretty sure Port Everglades doesn’t.
  18. Glad to help. We used this with our newborns. Cell signal is much stronger than wifi. Didn’t want cell anywhere near our babies. Always on wifi when in the house. Cellular back on when out of the house.
  19. I’ve done it before. You could put however much you wanted for each group (waiter, attendant, etc). I did it at GS.
  20. Then it has changed. It used to possible.
  21. I don’t think most expect it. In fact, I assume it is a small minority of folks who even try to get a diamond drink the morning they leave. I have never even thought of doing it even though I have read it is possible.
  22. No. You can set the amounts for the cruise. You are over thinking this. Most likely the service will be good. Leave the tips in place and readjust toward the end if you aren’t happy. Tips don’t get paid out daily. You can readjust at any time. Just keep in mind they work insanely hard for those tips.
  23. I’m not sure that is true. I believe you can fill out a sheet designating how much to tip to each position (cabin attendant, server, etc.).
  24. Honestly, not sure why anyone expects it. Disembarkation day is an extra day beyond the posted length of the cruise. Why would they give you free drinks the day you board and the morning you get off when a whole new group will get free drinks that day that same day.
