  1. That sucks. I probably should’ve mentioned that I never book online if there is any chance it is a tricky situation. I always call Royal With 5 in a booking it can get more complicated. I just don’t like to risk booking anything and paying deposit if I have to go back and add or delete someone and the agents are the only ones who can add a fifth if you are all in one cabin. Don’t know about the primary, but just ask them to switch the primary name and maybe they will let you. Id also ask if they have any connecting or even side by side cabins that could hold 3. Seems there could be someone. Also, If you are inside 24 hours of booking their may be some options to cancel fully. Perhaps ask.
  2. A can. Maybe $4 total. Just guessing based on what I remember. Zero point buying a package if you only want a few during an entire trip.
  3. I hear you. I’ve flipped the bill for every Royal cruise I’ve ever been on. And of course many for my kids. I’m half way to pinnacle. But I really don’t care. I’m sure I’ll make it unless I die too young, but I now prefer cruising in suites so I get any perks that way. I could care less about the status. Im only interested in any perks and cruising in suites and being D+ give me all that I need or want.
  4. Star class is so insanely priced for future bookings it just doesn’t make any sense. No way I’m paying 2-5k per day for my family to cruise. You can get one hell of an experience with other types of trips for that kind of dough. But I’m more than happy with sky class and if I want the other restaurants I’ll just get the UDP for a few hundred per person. Way cheaper than the insane premium for Star right now. Over the past year we have done star, then sky and then sky again. We were more than happy and content with our sky class trips. And it would’ve been at least double, maybe up to quadruple to get a star cabin. No thanks at that premium. Sky perks are enough for us and we got treated extremely well in the SL/CK. And when sky, you have all and more perks than pinnacle so no need to be pinnacle if you are go sky class.
  5. I’d cruise either way. I’m not cruising for my kids to get points. Last thing on my mind, but I’m glad they get them.
  6. GS is a better option in that scenario, assuming they would allow 5 in the cabin.
  7. It’s also not your job to wrongly say that a GS and a US balcony are the same size. Or to pull up the price difference of the other cabins. But OK.
  8. It says suggested. Not required. The language is silly anyhow. Read smart casual. It says think of it as a step up from your normal dinner attire. Then it says collared shirts. Are collated shirts a step up from typical dinner attire. Maybe at home, but certainly not an evening out at even a casual restaurant for most men. And since when are pant suits smart casual. That is typical business formal attire for many women. Just watch the high profile female politicians. Almost all wear pant suits for debates as an example. It sure isn’t smart casual. It’s business formal. I don’t know many women who want to bring their professional clothes in a cruise. The whole paragraph is silly and it’s just suggested, not required. That is why it lists so much.
  9. Are you sure that is what you meant? Because you said there were the same size as a GS. A GS is 375sf plus the balcony, so more like 475sf. So in fact they aren’t the near the same size as a GS. They are the same size as a Junior Suite. 1100 difference per person or total? And how much is the price difference between a US with balcony vs without. That is probably the more important comparison.
  10. For you age kids, two bathrooms is very helpful. I have 3 kids as well. 7,5, and 2. The two older always seem to need the bathroom at the same time. Having two bathrooms is a blessing for that reason alone. Shower time it helps a ton too. The downside of two regular cabins is very little floor space in each. The US or JR has real open floor space. But, two bathrooms is more important for many. We did Symphony in March. Your kids will absolutely love it. The youngest at 6 may be big enough to do almost everything for kids (assuming they aren’t particularly short) which will be great for the family overall. 48 inches is the key for the big kid water slides.
  11. FYI. The US with balconies aren’t 375. They are 275 sf. plus the balcony. Only the accessible version is about 375 sf. Of course the version with the balconies are even more expensive. Often nearly the same as a GS.
  12. The sleeping arrangements will be much better in the ultra spacious. The downside is no balcony per the cabin you are describing. Remember, you only get access to CK for dinner (not any time or meal) and that is depending on space. So if the ship is full and CK is busy, you could be limited in if or how many nights you could dine in the CK. You would get to use the suites line when embarking with the JS and double C&A points. Those are worthy perks. Personally, I think for sleeping arrangements, you’ll be much better off in the ultra spacious. Not sure how much KSF matters on price for this trip, but I’d price out two separate cabin next or across from each other. Then you have two bathrooms, a real bed for everyone, and more space. Can’t hurt to compare. Is also see if any other real suites are available. Sometimes grand suites or even CLS can be close enough in cost to make it worth it. It might be possible to have 5 in a CLS and they have 2 bathrooms.
  13. Deck 8 is a preferred deck by many. You will love the suite and the sky class benefits on Oasis. Take advantage of the CK/SL and the suite sun deck. And if you need anything go to the SL concierge. Enjoy.
  14. In December we were in the CLS. That counter is so long it didn’t matter. But we keep the table part up against the wall like a deal so it doesn’t impact much. In March, on Symphony, we had the 2 bedroom grand suite. Again, so much counter space it was fine. Love that cabin set up. Regardless, if I removed it, I’d get the stink eye from my wife. Not worth that. 😂😂.
  15. This is what I was wondering. The market for this is pretty small. Of course, the demand for watching cricket is present small on a cruise ship, yet they broadcast it a lot. Sports coverage on the ships is not great per all the other comments about ESPN Caribbean.
  16. I don’t think this forum is practice. It reflects one’s personality. I’m snarky sometimes. But I wouldn’t say anything here that I wouldn’t say to you in person.
  17. I think there was inaccuracy in what you heard. No one is saying it was your inaccuracy. But I’m very confident that kids not getting points is inaccurate. I don’t think you understand what taking it personally means. You referred to your hearing, mental state, etc. because I mentioned what you think you heard is wrong. That’s clearly taking my comment personally. I’m not exactly sure how me wondering why you took that personally is taking personal?
  18. Is this plug in only or battery as well? I assume they could be considered fire hazards if lithium rechargeable and left plugged in and running? IDK. I’m surprised they don’t explicitly ban any such lithium batter type of appliance just out of extreme caution. The fires they create are insanely difficult to contain. Larger lithium batteries will burn for potentially days even after suppressing it. Not a good scenario on a ship.
  19. Custard is very popular in some parts of the US. Take a trip to Wisconsin or many parts of the Midwest. Of course ice cream is by far the better selling type of varying types, but custard is not something you hardly ever see in the US. In some parts of the US, it is probably preference.
  20. Was on Harmony in Dec and Symphony in March. I don’t recall the individual coffee creamers being available in the CK/SL. I use non dairy creamer and they always brought me almond milk. Not the best for coffee, but for some reason I started liking my espressos with or without the almond milk so I was fine either way. I’m pretty sure I recall they had the half and half creamers in our suite. I know my wife had coffee many mornings in the suite in March an I’m sure she wouldn’t make a cup without those creamers. I can’t remember December and I don’t think we ever used the coffee maker in the suite.
  21. You think anyone on CC could definitely confirm how accurate this rumor is? We don’t work for Royal so no one here knows for sure. Like I said, I’m 99+% that what you think you overheard is nonsense. Of course I could be wrong. BTW, you don’t have to be senile to misunderstand things. Communication requires a sender and receiver of information, and for full communication a feedback loop. Failure of the sender could be the issue, or anything else that causes lack of full communication. This is why overhearing things often results in inaccurate information. No one said you were senile or hard of hearing and it’s baffling you would take my comment personally as if you were hard of hearing or senile. This isn’t about you, its about decades of research on communication. That research shows that what you think you heard is probably wrong. Elementary school kids learn this with the telephone game.
  22. People pay different prices for the same cabins anyhow. So folks will pay varying prices regardless.
  23. You can’t bring on (or off) fresh fruit or vegetables. You should be fine with packaged food or candy (like a mint). Do not try to take a banana or apple off the ship the last morning. You’ll be depositing it in a big pile with others or worse you may be paying a big fine if you forget to do that.
  24. If a person did that, they wouldn’t be a bean counter, they’d be using data to make a strategic decision. That’s not being a bean counter. That’s using data analytics to make strategic decisions. Anyhow, it isn’t happening. So it doesn’t matter. But it would be smart for them to revert kids to their points status after they become an adult. That would end D+ status for kids who take one cruise that then gets passed to their spouse and kids, and so goes the snowball effect. That’s the only policy I could see them wanting to change.
  25. Exactly what I was saying. That is the change that would save money. Deny points for a cruise due to age makes zero sense in any way. It isn’t happening anyhow.
