  1. I thought you had to call Celebrity to change your cabin but I'm not sure. I never saw anywhere how to change it online. The whole thing is ridiculous. Our experience with our Celebrity cruise was great and I came home and within weeks I booked another Eastern Med cruise. I booked a hump and now I'm worried about it. Do I have to double check it every day? It sounds like people get their cabin switched and lied to about it on a regular basis! :(

I think I may have to take all of my phone records from the date I booked to the cruise date for proof. Fortunately, all of our calls are on record on our bills cell & home.

  2. We can all sit here and recall the days when things were different but in the end things change. Either change with them or move on. I think it's best if some move on..........;)

I'll let Celebrity know on my booked (before the changes) cruise that a member on Cruise Critic thinks I should choose another cruise line other than Celebrity. I'm sure they will be thrilled to hear this. Not to mention it was suggested by a 20,000 + member.

  3. I had a Celebrity cruise booked and paid for in September 2013 that would put us in the Elite level of the Captain's Club which we had been working toward over the past year. November 28th we received notice that they changed the point value for Captain's Club. Due to the change we will not make the Elite status after this cruise and are several points short. We originally booked this Caribbean cruise to get to the Elite level with plans on booking an Asian cruise in the spring to enjoy the benefits of the Elite status on this 17 day cruise. We called a customer service agent at Celebrity and although they were sympathetic to our circumstance they said there is nothing they can do. This change penalizes loyal Celebrity cruise passengers. They could have handled this differently, but choose not to be fair. We are not happy!

I think I'm finding the best way to express your disappointment in in the member reviews section....too many gang up on anyone who states disappointment with anything Celebrity. Hit em where it really counts in their rating number. I find its a no win situaton here on the threads. Kind of a bully mentality.

I can't imagine Celebrity is happy with this

  4. This same exact thing happened to a couple on our Eastern med cruise in September. This couple booked a hump cabin directly thru the Celebrity website and several months later when they went back online they found their cabin had been changed? Celebrity's rep told them the only possible explanation was that they had changed it themselves and it was their tough luck as their cabin had since been booked by someone else.

I would insist they show me the email I sent!

  5. No, Celebrity really doesn't need to do any of what you said. The cruise industry is evolving and Celebrity is evolving with it. You're unhappy with the changes, but there are thousands of people sailing every week who love them, so clearly Celebrity is meeting the demand.

What a boring world it would be if every line offered the same exact thing. You want Royal's style of entertainment, etc.? Then for heaven's sake, GO BOOK ON ROYAL and quit complaining about Celebrity.

Maybe they remember the days when Celebrity USE to offer all of these things!

  6. We were given 25 bonus points because we were close to Elite. I would think you should have gotten that and even more. Maybe you can call the Captain's Club Monday.

    Bwahahahaha!!!!!!

Apparently, the cutomers who cruised 8 times are much more important than the ones who cruised 24 times.

  7. An update with the latest news......

The door has been closed on the Lost Luggage and Guest Relations Departments - their only answer is to quote policy.

I sent letter to head office Nov.7th to which I have not received a reply.

I read the advice about using facebook or twitter but we don't have either type of account and frankly don't want one!

I did see someone asked a week ago for the CEOs email address and one was posted. So I took that opportuity to send an email, explain the situation and attach the letters I have sent.

As suspected this is not a direct email to him - I received an automated response saying my email was received (yay progress) and would be dealt with in the order it was received. It also asked me not reply as that would further delay the response.

That was two days ago.....I will post an update when I hear back from someone.

If they sent a check cash it. Unfortunately, it is probably the best offer you will be offered. It's a huge corporation and they know what the bottom line is they need to pay.

  8. well i did hear that up on deck 9 the smoke doesnt get that bad. we also have cabins above and below us so thats good and being mid ship it should be good for if there is much movement. Its mostly view and thoughts on the room itself i also dont think the card room should be too noisey.

See, my mom is paying for this trip but Im gonna pay the difference for the balcony and surprise her I did all the booking and should be able to keep quiet till the cruise. wont she be surprised when we walk in to that balcony room instead of an inside!?!? :D So excited!

Awww...that's a nice surprize! She going to love the balcony!!! Happy sailing!!!!!!!!

  9. After realizing the 1-2-3 Go promotion was back, I got on Celebrity's website to see about adding another cruise next spring. DH and I usually cruise Celebrity without the kids but I thought it would be nice to add them to one.

Too bad the website doesn't understand 3 in a room. It keeps changing it back to 2. It doesn't matter what I do...it changes it back to 2. Thinking it might have been that particular cruise where there were no rooms for 3 available, I tried others. No dice. I could call my TA and have him check the prices but I like to do a little of the legwork in advance.

I'm looking at other lines now. Way to lose business, Celebrity! Don't dangle an offer in front of us (25 extra points if booked this weekend) if your website can't handle it.

And as I've been typing this post, the site has gone down for maintenance. Good grief.

If you were trying to book Aqua class...it's only 2 to a room...

  10. We just booked 9215 a 1A on the reflection. I have checked several threads on cc but looking for more info, like pics, noise problems, can you see aft , forward and down? Just about anything would be great. Can't ever get too much info ya know:rolleyes:;)

You may want to do a search of reflection cigarette smoke and crew quarter/doors or even card room doors. If I remeber right..smoke does waft up from below on outside walking deck (where they are allowed to smoke).

  11. Yes, but they just aren't quite answering the questions I have. I also went through all of cruise trails thread! Hha

Larger balcony...and the site I found did say one of the best rooms...however, not sure what is above you, where it is on the boat related to possible noise problems.

  12. On my last cruise the seas were a little bumpy, some passengers vomited in the MDR and near the elevators.

I am fortunate that I never got sea sick but why do adults vomit in public places ? Do you not feel a little upset before vomiting or does it come on so quickly that you do not have time to reach a bathroom?

In all fairness to the adults who became sick...we were on a cruise where half of the staff weresick due to very rough seas and our waiter didn't make it past the restaurant doors. Yes, apparently it can come on very quickly. I find laying in bed and not fighting the movement is the best bet fro not getting seasick. Hubby sat and played poker all night and was just fine...go figure!

  13. Every single time I have looked at booking with the drink + bonuses it has been significantly higher than before those were added. It's not a big deal to us, because we don't drink much (or at all) so that is not a big value. The price would have to be a lot cheaper before it would work for us. We're talking hundreds of dollars pp more.

I have a feeling the people who say their price didn't go up were booked at a pretty high price to start with. I admit that we only book a cruise if that rates are really, really low and seldom more than 3 months out--sometimes even after final payment. Sometimes when people tell me the cost of their cruise in the exact same cabin as we have, it's hard to keep my mouth shut, since sometimes they are paying double what we do.

Maybe it all is a wash if you do drink enough to offset the higher prices, but we don't. It might be fun to order pop, specialty coffees, etc., already included, but not for the price increases. Or else we're just extremely unlucky in the cruises we are interested in that have the drinks + package being higher.

I guess we're one of the unlucky ones, too. :)

  14. I was just reading an excellent live review on the Royal boards and I think someone summed up the issue very well: it just goes to show you how difficult customer service is because even if you have a great cruise overall, if you encounter a single crew member here or there with a bad attitude or have a couple of random unfortunate issues, those things tend to stand out because everything else on the ship is so great and expectations are so high.

So, I think most (like you) will have an incredible experience... but the few who have issues arise will unfortunately remember them.

I think it depends more on how the issues are handled...or not handled.

  15. As an Australian I have always found better deals with US agents, and had no problem booking with them.

This year I was most disappointed when my Cruise price dropped considerably, and the agent would not consider any kind of OBC or refund, even when I attempted to pay more to upgrade.

An upgrade would have got me to ELITE category before the recent changes

Many others on Cruise Critic boasted or large refunds, upgrades or OBC as they booked thru Celebrity direct.

My question is will Celebrity honour/match promotions offered through travel agents, such as free gratuities, or on board credits ?

My last cruise I booked directly through Celebrity and it was $200 less than online sites when all was said and done.

  16. You are joking I assume. IMO it would be really silly to allow the fact that you are just over 50 points away stop you from reaching that level. With the new 25 point bonus for new booking be introduced on Friday and your cruise you will be there soon. Also IMO the Elite benefits are really nice and should make anyone there feel valued. It would probably take you much longer on another cruise line to get the same benefits at this point. So swithching cruise lines or stop cruising because of a few points for Elite+? It will not be long before everyone will be discussing how lucky we were to get the 30 points a credit under an older system that was excessively generous.

Only a few small percentage of us will ever get to the Zenith level and that is OK. I cannot even imagine how it could be me with only 720 points.

I just think they should give everyone bonus points. Why bite the hand that feeds you?

  17. I must agree on this point!! We always make sure to smile and be kind to all crew. The perks are the best ..even the ones that are just " Thank you"!!!

I don't feel that asking for tea to be included is an unreasonable expectation. It is not asking for an extra perk. The perk should read 'A Hot ( non alcoholic) Beverage'

Can you imagine the uproar if it said tea and not coffee.

At one time they would come to your table with the tea box and you could choose your favorite brew....and no extra charge

  18. I would bet that Celebrity will not lose very many customers over the changes in the Captain's Club. I'm sure that their research department looked at the ramifications of the changes every which way but Sunday and can probably predict what percentage they will lose. They would have not made any changes that would adversely affected their sales to a large degree. I'm sure they also know, that many who are complaining now and threatening to leave, will stay customers because of the Celebrity experience.

It's really not about the perks..well, for me it's not. It's about Celebrity once being an elegent cruise line and now is going in the direction of all the others. I have cruised once on each of the other cruise lines (price wise) and always came back to Celebrity. Unfortunately, I don't think they (Celebrity) realize if/when HAL changes the smoking rules that many of their loyal customers have another option. I don't see much difference between the two lines at this point in time. Several years ago Celebrity was on a different playing field / a step above. You always felt spoiled / pampered / special.Everyone from 1 point to 3000 points should leave a ship feeling this way. That's what makes a holiday/vacation worth doing again over and over. It's gotten lost along the way.

I just want the old Celebrity back. Newer and improved isn't always better.

    But that's jmo

  19. I guess my question would be what kinds of perks would make everyone happy? What exactly is it that someone would use? I really can't think of much.

My opinion of "perks" is that whatever they are we are paying for them. Anyone who thinks they are not factored into the cost of a cruise is living in dreamland. The more so-called perks there are the more expensive the cruise.

Book a cruise that you enjoy for a price you can afford and then try not to worry about what everyone else is getting.:)

A guarenteed prime seat at the pool would make me very happy!
