  1. Am I correct in thinking that the grade you book on saver fare is the minimum grade that will be allocated.....could you not end up with a higher grade cabin in a worse position?
  2. Just shows that we need to book before we cruise to be sure of getting what we want....I was hoping that someone would say that it would be ok to pre-book then cancel and rebook as soon as we boarded using our OBC but looks like that idea is a non starter
  3. Once booked a certain grade on a saver fare and we were " upgraded" BUT we ended up in a very noisy cabin which on 3 sides was surrounded by the White areas on a ship....always wondered what the white areas are for....now I know....." work" areas. Lesson learnt....now always book Select and state NO " upgrade.
  4. Sorry Wozz but you will have to use your imagination although " mum dancing" could be a definite happening
  5. If only I could....'fraid it just makes my body act unladylike 🤥
  6. I suppose if I try hard enough and give it my best shot then....possibly...I may be able to plough through it ! 😄 I was just trying to find a way of spending all the " dosh" on something that I really want to do..
  7. I was thinking along those lines ....I usually do book before cruise all excursions that I want to do.....just thought it could be a way of using the OBC......we are not big drinkers....spa etc. doesn't interest me and the shops sell " stuff" that doesn't remotely interest me
  8. Thank you for that...Will take a look...take it that it is the well known social media site. Some cabins are balcony on that deck but some are sea view...only just found out that some have a window seat
  9. Just thought I would " bump" this thread to see if there is any response....we have booked Iona 5304 but would like a window seat.... any of you peeps know which cabins have a window seat .....hopefully the cabin we have booked has one.
  10. On an up and coming cruise we will have a considerable amount of OBC which I want to spend on excursions. If I pre book and pay before cruise once on board will I be able to cancel and then rebook the same excursions or will I have to go to the bottom of the wait list and possibly miss out? I know some excursions are very popular and are sold out before the cruise hence the wanting to pre book. I am also aware that if I book before the cruise I will receive my Peninsular discount but once onboard I will have to use the OBC before I receive any discount......just wondered if anyone had done it
  11. If dates & price....especially price....are good then it is certainly worth trying it. RCI & P&O are totally different experiences ....keep that in mind and you may be pleasantly surprised....it is possible to enjoy different experiences and approaches and if you don't try then you will never know
  12. As Jean has said it's always been that way...if you wish to upgrade an already booked cruise it will be the price at the time of your original booking date
  13. I think davecttr comment was meaning the peeps who seem to be permanently attached to their phones conveying and receiving comments and thoughts on every conceivable level....most of it mindless chatter. Of course there are many people who need to be constantly in touch with home for genuine reasons and that is were mobile phones are indispensable
  14. We have a Seaview cabin....5304....booked on Iona and the videos I have seen of Seaview cabins show them having a window seat....do all Iona Seaview cabins have a window seat or just certain ones ? Not bothered about a balcony cabin in December visiting Northern ports but the window seats look just the job for us
  15. Oh no....after all of your thorough investigating of all Insurance companies and on top of everything else that is happening. I am sure most people on here will feel " pig sick" for you. To me it shows what I have always thought....they are very very good at taking your money but when you want the support from them that you thought you had in place they will dig and dig until the find the slightest of hairline chinks and pursue that stance relentlessly. Why does everything have to become confrontational....it becomes a battle of wills....they hope that they will wear you down and you go away and you have to be like a dog with a bone....which I think you are. 🙂 Good luck and I shall follow this thread with my fingers crossed for you....you could really do without this added stress
  16. Hi Megabear 2....I have been reading about your " incident" with your aunt....also have read your insight into the importance of having adequate travel insurance.....very informative. Wonder how many peeps actually take in the minute detail or just skim over the summary of their Travel insurance. Do peeps realise the importance of the GHIC card thinking...its ok I have travel insurance....that will be ok....that will cover my needs ....how many actually carry it around with them....all of the time. For us it will be a situation that will not arise as we have made the decision that our travelling abroad days are over....it has nothing to offer us only possible aggravation....we have seen and experienced all what we want to see and are now rediscovering all that our wonderful country has to offer...in its many many varied ways.....peace of mind being on of the advantages for us. I appreciate that many still want to try and carry on as normal but it is a changed world and you really need to be fully aware of any possible problems and pitfalls....thank you Megabear 2 for highlighting some of them I wish you well on this latest "incident" and that the outcome is what you wish for. Happy cruising & adventures everyone....wherever you find them
  17. It happened pre covid and just a couple of times....there was no way to select a cabin....it made it clear cabin selection guaranteed basis....I queried in with P&O & TA at the time but that was the booking condition....guaranteed cabin but could still select dining and have the coach transfer to the port. I honestly can't remember when cabin number was allocated but it was before we embarked. Never did fathom the reason why
  18. 99% of the time we have been able to choose cabin but we also choose select fare for the coach transfer and choice of dining time
  19. In most cases on select fare you can choose your cabin but on a couple of occasions when I have booked select fare the option to choose your own cabin number is not available so it can happen but not very often.
  20. Graham has shown you what you could end up with...if you can live with that then may be worth considering saver fare...only you can decide if it would be a problem. I think once you have been allocated a saver fare cabin you can't change it
  21. Aah....so that's why the homebound journey seems to take longer 😉
  22. I know it isn't the same route but we take the coach from Preston. We used to drive down and have taken the train down ....both on the day before. Would never consider either of those options now....for us a lot less hassle taking the coach transfer especially now with train strikes on the horizon and fuel prices that seem to be going up daily
