  1. Thank you all for your replies. I have booked this cabin and am looking forward to my first Viking cruise. Actually, not the first…..we were on Viking Star about 30 years ago.
  2. About $1400. more than gty. Deck 3. Nothing is available except this cabin on deck 7.
  3. We are afraid to take a chance with a gty. Cabin on deck 3 because of possible noise issues. Cabin 7012 is available for a lot more money. Is this a good choice?
  4. We are thinking of booking a deck 3 gty. on the Neptune. Has anyone experienced any noisy cabins on this deck? I know that it is also possible to be assigned a cabin on any other deck as well. Has anyone experienced undue noise aboard this ship? Any areas that we should be concerned about?
  5. We’re you aware of any singles activities on board for solo traveler’s? We’re there any opportunities for shared tables or solo traveler’s get togethers?
  6. I was wondering what would happen if my spouse, who I have already paid cruise fare for, was not able to board with me at the last minute. Because of health conditions, he may not be able to board the ship, but we would not know until the day of boarding or the day before. What has been your experience with this possible problem? Would the cruise line insist that I pay single fare, which is much higher than a fare for two people, or impose a penalty because of this situation.? Have you ever just shown up at the pier as a single and boarded without an incident?
  7. They made the best hot chocolate that I have ever had; mounds of whipped cream on top.
  8. But for people who have to avoid the sun, or just don’t want to be in the sun, this is a real problem. NO SHADE AT ALL. There should be a way for them to address this issue.
  9. There are no loungers in the shade, except for about 6 pergolas open to a first come first served basis. The others are reserved for Owners Suites, only. We found this to be a real problem on the Seascape. They really should address this issue, because everything else about the Yacht Club experience was excellent.
  10. We were guests on MSC Seascape last week. We had a Handicapped Accessible cabin in the Yacht Club. We were amazed at the attention and concern given to us by all the crew members. Everyone knew our names, offered help whenever needed, and made our cruise wonderful in spite of physical problems that occurred occasionally. We found the food in the dining room to be very good and service excellent. The lunch buffet on the pool deck was very good, and again, service excellent. Live music accompanied our dinners, and the views from the dining room were beautiful overlooking the ocean and ports from way up high. Our balcony cabin was very large and the balcony itself was enormous. One of the greatest perks was the electric door and ramp, that required just a push of a button to operate, making it very easy for my husband to go out on the balcony. We did try to go to the theatre, but had problems with the seating due to the fact that all seats required a step down, and when using a walker, this becomes difficult. Also, the pool deck lacks shading. There is no shade up there at all, unless you were lucky enough to get one of six units protecting you from the sun. These were generally gone by the time we came up on deck. We will cruise in the Yacht Club again in the future, I recommend it highly, especially if you are physically challenged, and even if you’re not.
  11. We have sailed on over 175 cruises including Regent. However, our longest cruises were on Holland America and Cunard. We did a 59 day Grand Cruise on HAL’ s Rotterdam in 2016 and enjoyed it so much, that for the next two years we signed up for the over 100 days Cunard World Cruise in 2017 and 2018. We just loved it and did not want to get off the ship at the end of the voyages. There was so much to do on board, enough port time, and lovely lazy sea days to just relax and look at the ocean. Give the long cruise a try, you will become addicted.
  12. I also traveled solo on Navigator last month, and had a fabulous time. They certainly know how to take care of their solo travelers. My husband was not able to join me, so I decided that I would cruise on my own. From the moment I got on board, everyone was so friendly. There was a scheduled get together in the lounge with an option to continue to the CR for dinner. Our group of eight were so congenial, that we continued dining together, joining for trivia, bridge, excursions, etc. The Asst. Social Director, Lucy, was just wonderful, friendly and joined us for dinner on many evenings. She was also instrumental in making dinner reservations for our group at the specialty restaurants as well. I look forward to cruising as a solo again with Regent, now that my husband’s health does not permit him to cruise. My only wish would be that Regent institute solo fares for all of their cruises.
  13. Were there any issues from noise from below (theatre)?
  14. On most other luxury liners a solo traveler pays double the fare, so they don’t actually get what they pay for. Good for Crystal for offering this to solo travelers.
  15. I am interested in one of the solo cabins on Deck 7. They are all forward and over the theatre. Has anyone previously stayed in one of these cabins and are there any noise issues?
  16. I'm an old fogey also, only showers for me. Thank you both for your advice.
  17. We are trying to decide on one of these two cabins on the Mariner: 755 or 806. One is forward above a gym area, and one is toward the aft. We are light sleepers and noise would be a problem. Which would you choose?
  18. I read the sticky before posting. Not enough information, that’s why Imposted.
  19. We will be cruising on the Mariner in Nov. I am wondering if there are any cabins or sections of the ship to avoid because of noise or vibration issues? I am a very light sleeper.
  20. If you are in the YC, do you have to pay full price for specialty dining in other restaurants on board? If you get military discount, does it pay to also get Match Status for dining discounts or Diamond dinner?
  21. We had the approval the next day.
  22. We were able to get the military discount for our MSC cruise. Does it also pay to try to get Match Status as we have high status on many cruise lines? Also, if we are in the Yacht Club, are we entitled to any other discounts on board?
  23. We just received a Yacht Club upgrade offer to a deluxe grand suite on Deck 19; we are currently in a deluxe suite on Deck 18. I would upgrade except for the fact that Deck 20, where the pool, etc. is located right above us might be noisy. What has been your experience with the 19th floor on MSC Seascape?
