Thank you for response! We decided NOT to do the car rental because it appears that Celebrity will take our passports when we board, and we need the passport to rent the car. We weren't 100% we would be able to get them for Ushuaia so we decided not to risk it.

Ha - we are on Celebrity Eclipse departing Valparaiso on April 7th! If you can wait until about 12:30 you can ask our driver to take you back to Santiago

Embarkation in Bali compared to Valparaiso
GatorMomInNC replied to zitsky's topic in Celebrity Cruises
Well, we arrive late on a Friday and cruise on Sunday, so time is limited. Good to hear about the Ritz - that is where we are staying for both nights. We booked this cruise rather late (right at 90 day mark) and a lot of hotels in Valparaiso were sold out or didn't fit our needs (twin beds and not a lot of stairs), so we decided just to spend Friday night, all day Saturday and Saturday night in Santiago and then head to Valparaiso. If we are fortunate enough to return we will spend more time in Valparaiso I guess. -
Embarkation in Bali compared to Valparaiso

Thanks this is very helpful! We don't have a boarding time. We weren't going to a winery, just the town of Vin del Mar as well as a drive around Valparaiso as part of a pre-boarding tour and transfer from Santiago. Now I am wondering if we should hire a private driver and head straight to the port... I hate to miss seeing more of Valparaiso and Chile in general, but I have yet to read one positive thing about the embarkation process at Valparaiso port. -
Embarkation in Bali compared to Valparaiso

We are boarding in Valparaiso in April on Celebrity Eclipse (and I am also from the Triangle!). Doing a transfer and tour from Santiago the morning of the cruise; but after reading your comments, I am now wondering if I should just go straight to the port and forego the tour of Vin Del Mar and Valparaiso... any suggestions? -
"One-device" for wi-fi - is this at a time?
GatorMomInNC replied to GatorMomInNC's topic in Celebrity Cruises
The have a 1 device plan and a 2 device plan. A 2 device plan is cheaper than 2 individual 1 device plans. I understand that if I buy a 1 device plan, I can use either on cell or Ipad or whatever I want, just not simultaneously - so more than one device, but not more than one at a time. If we get a 2 device plan is it the equivalent of 2 1 device plans -- so we both have our own devices (cell phone and I pads), can I use 1 of the "devices" either on my cell or Ipad, not at the same time; and she uses one of the "devices" on either her cell or Ipad but not at same time. It seems it should work this way in theory... -
"One-device" for wi-fi - is this at a time?

Thanks. So I can log into my phone log out and then log onto my iPad. And she can do the same with her phone and iPad. Each of us can be on one device at a time, but only one, but it doesn’t matter which one, correct? -
Anyone ever book a car to do Tierro Del Fuego National park? We are planning to do this in the a.m., a little out of my comfort zone though, any feedback appreciated.

This may be too specific of a question for anyone to answer but... We are in Ushuaia from 10am to 7pm -tendering. Celebrity Eclipse. We have plans for the morning, but are trying to decide between a ship or private excursion. Basically the same but for cost. Both are supposed to end at 6pm. If we do ship excursion - do we have to tender from port back to the ship to catch the excursion? This seems silly...but I guess I have never done a later/tender port/ship excursion, because I can only recall queuing up on the ship... If we do private, what time would the last tender leave (roughly). Usually all aboard is SOONER than the depart time and last tender is sooner than that, so a little concerned about the timing there. Any help is appreciated.

"One-device" for wi-fi - is this at a time?
GatorMomInNC replied to GatorMomInNC's topic in Celebrity Cruises
Thanks everyone. Since the 2 device was 40% off, and the 1 device was 30% off, I ordered the 2 device package and we are going to split it. It is weird because it says "per guest' but if she can log in on her devices (one at a time) and I can log in on mine (one at a time) there really is no need to pay for both of us. Hope I am not missing something and she and I end up fighting over the wi-fi! -

Well great, thanks! As usual, Cruise Critic to the rescue 😀 So now I thought of a 2nd question: The 2 device package was 40% off. I am cruising with my sister. If I purchase that, can we "split" it - she uses "one device" on her devices and I use "one device" on mine? That would be cheaper than each of us buying a one device plan separately. -
Sorry if this is a stupid question, and I searched first but couldn't find a topic... I just pre-purchased the Premium Wi-Fi for my upcoming SA cruise on the Eclipse. The options were one or 2 devices. I went with one device, but on other cruise lines you can switch - use your phone, then log off, then long on your Ipad, etc. Can I do that on Celebrity? I would like to be able to text on my phone, but use my Ipad for movies, email, surfing, etc. I am just confused because they also offer a more expensive 2 device option....

In response to Beachsidegirl about El Pedral --- Thank you! We arrive on the 16th 😐....But, I reached out anyway to see if they would by chance be open one more day. Unfortunately, we are not going to the Falklands on our cruise. Thanks to everyone

Has anyone ever gone on a cruise to SA in April and seen penguins? We are planning are booking a tour to Porto Tumbo in Puerto Madryn but am concerned it will be for naught...

I got this offer on a cruise I booked with a $1 deposit. My sister is considering going and if she goes I may go with her, figured only a $1 so I booked it. I assumed I got the offer because I used the $1 deposit and am holding up the room for so many months with no "real" deposit down, no incentive to complete the booking for a while.

I am on an Alaska cruise right now (first day) , but my second cruise to Alaska and first one was LATER in September. We had FANTASTIC weather on our previous September cruise…sunny skies, etc. so far on this cruise it is overcast but not actually raining. No guarantees on weather ever. I like that it is not only less expensive in September but also less crowded. Personally rainy weather doesn’t bother me much. Go with schedule that works best for you and hope for the best knowing that it might not have been better at a different time. I am enjoying break from 90+ temps where. I live
