  1. Another inconsistency? How would you know? Do you load your clothes and detergent, then cross your fingers? I would be happy if they offered free coin laundry to elites. Imagine how much Princess would save if they didn’t have to do elites’ laundry.
  2. Is there some event in particular you are looking for? Lectures are in the morning with hula/ukulele classes in the afternoon (not at the same time).
  3. Yes, I was one of those that was promised refundable 50% elite internet OBC. Fought it all the way up the chain of command on the Grand. Told by multiple people that they would look into this. huh! “It is what it was.” Then there is the testing wording for Covid. All in the same paragraph. Yes, PCR test 3 days Yes, Rapid Antigen proctored. 1, 2, or 3 days Yes, self tested RAT 24 hours. Every variation, but nothing clear. There lies the issue with many policies. Someone needs to coordinate and come to an agreement before print. Princess is inconsistent in many ways. OH….how many days before cruise to pick arrival time? Anywhere from 59 to 1 week before. Do you see a pattern here? @travelin.sisters
  4. I’m with the MDR embarkation lunch bunch. If you can board early enough. You have the whole cruise….even port days…or an in between meal time to experience Alfredo’s. Embarkation lunch is never repeated.
  5. On my iPhone so this will be brief. Best time to see whales? End of Jan, Feb, and March. Beat ocean….anytime. Winter may have some big swells (north shore big wave surfing). Summer is new for Princess. Good time for families. Not sure if ELUA will be onboard. Best of the best teams. Refer to above link. Best weather? Winter can be raining (thundering and flooding this week). Summer can be hot and humid. Spring is really pretty decent. Being on a cruise ship for 10 sea days ….anytime!
  6. There's the catch-22. Fare is paid in full. Princess wants to make sure they get 2 paid occupants in that cabin. If ill sister gets back her fare, then other sister will be hit with a single supplement....unless credit card insurance kicks in (pays ill sister back AND pays for solo supplement). Not arguing should/should not have insurance. Would Princess issue a FCC for this cancellation or is that only for Covid cases? Or is that a thing of the past? Please do let us know how this all plays out. Others may need this information going forward. Thank you so much. Wishing you all the best. I can only speak for a recent experience. Sisters both cancelled due to family emergency. Both had Princess Platinum Insurance. They received full fare (minus insurance) back and insurance paid for my solo supplement. Not sure if my insurance policy covered the solo or my sisters'. Doesn't matter. I did the cruise by myself with no additional costs.
  7. @CCAubsThank you for starting this thread, but am wondering just who you are? When I click on your account, all I see are thread starters. Do you work for the Cruise Line Industry? Are you a liaison for cruise ships? How did you hear about this? And will this be addressed to all Ship Lines? Seems like a huge bite to addresses Cruise Critic concerns under such a huge umbrella. Your posters have some very valid issues. Most of it falls under "Princess is going in the wrong direction". From Bigger is not better, to information disseminated on their web pages". I do hope you will report back to us what was covered in this Seatrade Cruise Global event. When is this taking place? Will it open to the public to watch? Thank you
  8. @TrixieBel I hope you are enjoying your cruise on the Majestic. I apologize for the tangent, but obviously, there is a battle for the Grand and the Coral. I understand the Royal is also being sent your way. I believe the "ROYAL" class ships should be sailing your waters. Just return the outcasts (Grand and Coral). As a bonus exchange, you may have the Island. Thank you for writing such a marvelous sales pitch for the Majestic.
  9. Yes, (pretty) please, return MY Grand Princess. While you are at it, just turn the Golden Princess over too.
  10. I am not familiar with the trains in Japan. I just ran across this piece of information for those who are planning on taking luggage on a train: https://tokyocheapo.com/travel/transport/new-shinkansen-luggage-rules/ https://www.japan-guide.com/e/e2274.html Disclaimer: This may have nothing to do with how you get from point A to point B. Just a note for information...in case. "Some" lines require advance reservations if you are taking "over-sized" luggage that does not fit in the overhead.
  11. It's a catch-22. I wish you/your sisters all the luck in their decisions. Once this decision is made, I hope all of you will enjoy your cruise. May the rest of your vacation be trouble free.
  12. This, indeed, is complicated. Sister may receive something from Chase Sapphire Preferred, but doubt it would cover solo supplement. If sister is a no show, that may negate Credit Card Insurance. I was in a similar situation way back when. I tried all kinds of options. But my cabin mate wanted to cancel and I had to pay the supplement. I asked her to be a no show since she would lose everything anyway. No deal. My TA tried to salvage my cruise by rebooking me in the cheapest cabin x 2. I even tried to do a name change so that there would be two in the cabin. Is there anyone who wants a "free" cruise? I'd go, but this doesn't fit my schedule. Only $50 for a name change.
  13. Are there any plans to build SMALLER ships? Please bring back the Grand Class ships with full promenades, Alfredo's, no smoking casinos, more Fiesta Deck Window Suites, an aft theater/lounge, and all of the other wonderful aspects of that class of ship. Please return the Grand Princess to the (West Coast) United States full time.
  14. @4bandeWelcome to Cruise Critic. You will find a lot more information here than what should be disseminated by Princess. Please be cautious. Not all that is written is accurate. You still need to do your research to verify. I try to post information that I deem correct. But I sometimes make mistakes and someone else will correct me. To err is to be human.
  15. Sorry to disillusion you, but flight attendants would not be placed in San Pedro. Long Beach or LAX. Now back to trying to solve the mystery. Congratulations on your balcony upgrade. Did you not know until you arrived at the port? Enjoy your sunsets (I have rarely been up for sunrises). I ask everyone I know to send my aloha to Tiki Dave and Leialoha. Just tell them Renee is waiting for the next season.
  16. Club Class mini isn't necessary. You can request an early walk off or first off after self disembark. I believe SEA has EZ luggage service (don't know required flight times). Traffic to SEA can be horrible early in the morning. It recently took us over an hour to get from Olympia to SEA for a morning flight. Once inside the terminal, it wasn't as bad as I thought, but I have TSA pre-check.
  17. @Don John. Thank you for your research. Olympia, Washington Posted 18 hours ago for Busan. With help from SuzSharp, MrLakeWorth, ringers0815, cr8tiv1 and Jinhee at the Korea Travel Office: I successfully used this address: International Passenger Terminal, 206 Chungjiang-daero, Dong-gu, Busan, zip code 48751 Diamond Princess. For phone number of where we will be staying I used Diamond Princess 826615936071. Let me know if this works for you. If you submit during office hours (in Korea) results typically come in an hour or so. Terry
  18. Thongs? Bikinis? Grannies? Was the owner trying to dry them out? Shivers down my spine.
  19. That's a warning to all: Do not attempt to respond to posts early in the morning with an iPad and your eyes half shut. Thank you for pointing this out. The 0 and 9 keys are "really" close with arthritic fingers.
  20. Are these statements correct? Past final payment? In penalty phase? Do both sisters have insurance? Any chance there is a doctor that will verify medical issues? Basic insurance or upgraded to Platinum? If yes, then remaining sister should be able to sail solo (no solo supplement) and other sister should be able to receive fare minus insurance). This is a generic “what if”. Best to contact Princess (your TA is not an insurance adjuster).
  21. It’s a January 2924 cruise. My guess is Caribbean. One 3 day weekend. OP is from Florida. Probably not many kids. Home schooled? Love a good mystery. I agree, speculations at best, unless OP returns with more information.
  22. 2. Your entire party must be present to receive tickets. You are unable to be first in line and ask for 10 tickets. Excursions have first priority (or sometimes they have a separate door for them). Elites and Suites "are supposed to" have priority. That's debatable. 3. Yes, you may order more than one entre, but lobster is not an everyday dish. You may order as many lobsters as you want (within reason) on the one formal night it is served. When you do order an extra entre, it usually comes fully plated, even if you just request the main.
  23. You definitely needed that "side bar". Hope you bought the Drink Package (either or). You have a lot of sea days coming up.
  24. I'm too sheltered....what's twerking? The last time I heard that word, it was associated with Miley Cirus.
