I miss the Royal too. We’re on the B2B starting 2/2. I tried to get the 12/22 port OT but didn’t get it. Hopefully I’ll work some of the ships in transit in March and April. -

Hi Cruise Raider, Are you currently on board? Or are you on the next one? (I've been busy and haven't kept up) -

Cruise Raider. Happy Anniversary! I met Cole and the Hotel General Manager (forgot his name) the day after the "incident" last month. I was at the terminal exit when they both happened to walk by. The Hotel General Manager was in full dress uniform, which got my attention. Then I saw Cole's name tag and said, "Oh! You're the CD!" Very friendly, both of them. -

@Cruise Raider. Enjoy your cruise. I'll be working the port at the end of September when Ruby comes back on her final Alaska run of the season and just before she departs for drydock. Those half turns are easier than the full turns. -
I was actually stationed at Pier 27 for 13 hours the day after Ruby had her "accident". I got to go on board and grab a bite to eat. I also got to go to the Future Cruise Desk and buy a couple more FCC for next year (didn't buy enough when we were on the Royal).

Hi Cruise Raider! When's your next cruise? I did not ask for any slots for August because the ship days did not correspond with my regular work schedule. I'll try and do some port days in September.

They accepted what was being offered at the time, which I think was just a full refund. -

I’m being called in. USCG is inspecting the repair work. If hot welding is needed, departure will be delayed another 24 hours.- 457 replies

Good news indeed. SFPD would have been called in for traffic control if there had been a need for disembarkation. So far, I have not received any word on having to go in. So it looks like once USCG clears the ship, you’ll be on your way. Happy sailing!- 457 replies

The photos show the damaged dock bumper located on the outer part of pier 27. So if you view the YouTube video from Marine Traffic Past Track posted by Outerdog, at the 10 second mark the left rear of the ship collides with the pier. After the collision, the ship gets pushed back out by the tugs, and that’s why you see that “abnormal maneuver.” -

Info being relayed to SFPD is that they are aiming for a 7pm departure. No further details.. -
I caught Claudio outside Guest Services as soon as we boarded, and he took care of our issue right away. Of course it helped that I recognized him from our previous cruises.

SanFrancisco Pier and Walkability
sfpd3000 replied to debnrick's topic in California Coastal / Pacific Northwest
Yes. Since Ruby is the "SF-homeported" ship doing the full turns, she gets priority at the newer pier. When the Ruby leaves for Ft Lauderdale and the Crown is homeported here, she will get priority at Pier 27.
