  1. Wow, some great responses. I agree with all of them. From seeing the ship in port, the first "boing" "of using my sea pass card, the diamond lounge, hanging out on my balcony, meeting new friends, relaxing, etc.... I have a progressive form of M.S. and an uncertain future (no sympathy needed) I have a great life. Cruising is a very big part of my life. Cruising makes traveling possible and pleasurable. I will cruise as long as I can. Those of us who are able to experience this are among the most blessed people in the world. Thank you for reading my long answer to this question, my short answer is.... I love EVERYTHING about cruising. I will be sailing in five days, Caribbean here we come. Please forgive my rant.

Good on u Paul, I didn't even think of that first "boing" from the seapass card, thats defo a big sign that yr oh hol, the first sound as u walk onboard :-)

  2. I know this is a hard one to answer but if u could try think of the one thing u are most looking fwd to on yr next cruise, what would it be?? One thing remember ;)told u it was hard lol

For me ... sitting by the pool, nice cocktail, band playing in the background :-) Ahhhh bliss.

    Your turn ....

  3. What a pain for you, and us who are due to go on FOS.

Do they still do the midnight cake buffet and party nights up on deck??

How much are the blue cabanas that I see in the pics and are they an eye sore??

Was the cruise director any good??

Oh I cant think of anything else just now, perhaps you have some tips??

    I hope u had a wonderful time :)

  4. For me, I love going to the mdr with my kids, as a parent I reckon we can usually tell when our kid may be heading for a meltdown and I personally remove the wee one immediately, go out of the restaurant altogether until he or she calms down, a family only section would actually be a good, I personally would quite like that

  5. that first shriek is physically PAINFUL for my husband due to some prior ear surgeries. as in makes him nauseous.

This comment I am about to make is made with no disrespect but if the noise of child hurts your husband so much then you should probably look to book adult only cruises.

If you choose to book a cruise ship aimed at families, ie has kids clubs etc then you have chosen to accept that the shreiking of children is a possibility.

  6. Steward on Indy was not really a nice guy at all, never saw the guy smile,, bed not always made (that happened a good few times o this 2 week cruise), however I didnt complain because to be honest I was just loving my holiday regardless of this guy not really doing all that much, the way I look at it is I have no idea whats going on in his life, I might be on hol and loving it but this guy might be missing his wife, kids, his parents, I do however take my towel animals extremely seriously ;) I did ask for towel animals if he had a chance because the kids loved them, he reluctantly agreed :)

  7. U are paying for ur child so u take ur kids and enjoy the mdr.

My kids both been to main dining rooms on rci ships and p and o ships since before they were one year old, we just got them fed pretty fast, brought toys or books for them, no probs.

When u travel with very young kids, I dont really think u can sit too long in a restaurant cos you know how it is, they do get restless lol, if ur kids get a wee bit restless just take the out.

Enjoy ur holiday, you'll be fine x

  8. When you reserve a cabana, six people are allowed to use it so you would have no problem using it in the AM and letting Grandma and Grandpa enjoy it in the Afternoon. I would not think that you would have any trouble getting your 3 year old into the cabana either. Some of the "Over the water" Cabanas on Nellies require entry from the water either up a set of steps or up a ladder. That might be difficult entry for your 3 year old. The "Beach" cabanas are beach level and have sandy areas inside the wall that surrounds them and are right in front of the swimming area. We had #10 which is a handicap accessible one, along with #9. Our entry into the water was down a cement ramp to the water's edge. That would work for your 3 year old if they are not reserved for someone who actually needs the accessible one. We did not but were assigned it when we arrived. All of the other ones were already assigned. We just lucked out to get that one.

Thank you for ur answer, we decided to leave it but I appreciate u taking the time to answer. :)

  9. Hi all, quick question, I see the age restrictions for the cabanas in labadee are age 4 and In our party there is a 3 year old.

Hubby and I are thinking of having a couple of hours when ship ports alone on the beach then bringing the kids off (granny and gramps also with us) we would like to have hired the cabana and I am just wondering how strict they are if the 3 year old came up to it when she is not in the water.

Or, if we hired it so we could have that couple of hours in the morning, would we then be able to give it to my parents so they could enjoy it and hubby, me and the kids would go to beach chairs?

    Thankyou in advance :-)

Dont know how to delete a thread, sorry folks but decided we are not going to do a cabana at all, they do look nice and relaxing but we also like wandering around too much and want to spend most of the day in the water with the children so it probably would have been wasted on us.

  11. Hi, we visited prickly pear when on Oasis a few yrs ago and it was wonderful and we are going on Freedom in a few months and I was wondering if you can do this excursion through RCI on Freedom.

At the time we done it, it was to the best of my knowledge only available on Oasis, no other RCI ships (Allure was not at sea then, still getting built) done it.

It was a catamaran from St Maarten when we went.

So my question is, do you know if this catamaran to prickly pear excursion is still being done by rci from st maarten, thanks in advance :)

  12. Seen pics of Nellies beach and saw blue tents up and I just wondered if anyone has been to Labadee or even cococay if u know anything about them, such as cost for hire and if u hire them onboard and its waiting for u at beach or if u hire it from guys on the beach, also costs if you know.

    Thanks in advance.

  13. We are seriously considering doing a 7 night back to back sailing. Both weeks have different itineraries. Luckily, the same stateroom is available for BOTH sailings. :D Should we jump at this oppertunity?

Just what are the pros & cons of doing a back to back sailing? Do you have to get off the ship after the first sailing, then get back on? Do you have to take your luggage off with you? Any issues with the Set Sail Pass?

    Thanking you in advance,

    Suzy B

We only do b2b's its great, u wont be sorry, get yourself booked up.

  14. :eek::eek::eek:

I so would have had to have said something to ladle people and had staff remove it. That's crazy!!

I like the idea of Clorox wipes for the room. *If* I ever let my kids back to the Arcade (after getting stomach virus on last cruise), I will wipe down what they touch in there before they do too!

We did, I should have said that, we told the staff, we couldn't believe our eyes.

  15. I call people out when they do stuff like that and it always gets quite the reaction.

"DUDE, THAT'S GROSS, WASH YOUR HANDS!" when someone is stepping out of the restroom will usually shame people into doing the right thing.

However, it could get you punched, so use with caution.

Lol, we told the staff, a black eye in the formal pics doesnt look too good :-)
