  1. Does anyone know how far off the coast Carnival sails from Jax to the Bahamas? We sail Saturday on the Fascination, and I'm looking for the weather and wave heights. I'm having a heck of a time trying to google it!

    Thanks!

    Kim

When you return, please come back and tell us how it was. We board next month! Have a great cruise!!:)

  2. I've seen it happen where the person who originally started the roll call and was active for well over a year in keeping it a great roll call didn't show up at the Meet & Greet party. Throughout the cruise, we would ask if anyone had seen or heard from him. Nobody I spoke with had. I finally ran into him on day 13 of our 15 day cruise. I recognized him from pictures he had posted on the roll call. He had missed the party as it was held at an inconvenient time for him.

  3. Carnival will only charge you in U.S. dollars so the exchange rate will be whatever the rate your credit card is charging. Between the savings with the great rate on NCL and the free Ultimate Beverage Package I have "jumped ship".

Not so! When I was on the phone with Carnival prior to booking our next cruise, the agent offered the price in Canadian dollars without me even asking for it because she knew I am Canadian.

  4. Dude! You had me oohing and awing over the beautiful words of your song and then I almost spit out my tea when I read the line about maybe bringing the wife next time! Oh my goodness! :D:D:D Thank you so much for the entertainment this morning. I can't wait to get DH to read this as we head out on the Fascination in a few weeks. Fabulous review!!

  5. We are using rental cars prior to and after our Fascination cruise in June. We are getting conflicting information about rental car facilities at the airport.

First of all, I am assuming that the airport is the closest place to Jaxport to access rental cars. Am I correct?

Secondly, how convenient are the rental car outlets? Our plan is for DH to drop us and the luggage at the ship and return the rental car. He is then taking a Carnival shuttle from the airport to the ship. On arrival back in Jacksonville, he will then take the Carnival shuttle to the airport, pick up the rental car and drive to pick us and the luggage up. Is this the right decision?

    Thanks for any help.

  6. Thank you so much for your incredible review. You have a lovely family and you are a wonderful example to those dealing with the sting of loss. Life does go on and beautiful memories keep our loved ones alive within our hearts.

Your review is what convinced me that this is the perfect cruise to gift to my Dad for his 80th birthday. We leave on June 6th. Thank you so very much!

  7. Thanks everyone, especially AmberTeka! I have taken your advice and booked the cruise. Price went down a wee bit. Certainly not what we have paid in the past but since we are celebrating 3 birthdays, including my Dad's 80th and our DD's 30th, what the heck? I went for it. I guess that's the problem with getting such amazing deals. It's then very hard to pay a "normal" price.

AmberTeka, thank you for all the info on Jacksonville. I'm sure we will be able to use some of it. It sounds like a lovely place!

  8. Our last 2 cruises have been on Celebrity and we have 2 more booked with them. As other posters have noted, there is a lot of live music throughout the ship. On our last cruise, we actually had the craziest "Dancing with the Stripes" ever! It was hilarious and we were sore from laughing so hard. They also had a fun Egg Drop and other different activities throughout the cruise. While the Hairy Chest contests don't exist on Celebrity, there are still a lot of fun things to do day and night. We were up later on this ship than on any previous one. You won't be sorry to try Celebrity!

  9. Try clearing the cookies on your computer or look at prices on a different computer. I have noticed in the past that this can make a difference if you are looking at one particular cruise a lot.

Thanks tfrcal. I have noticed that as well. I have used a couple of different computers with the same results. I'll keep trying as it finally went down 10 whole dollars today!!!!

Misstiffany, I am going grey waiting on this cruise! I am usually quite a planner and this last minute stuff is doing me in! I'm not sure if the stress of this waiting has anything to do with it or not but I have completely lost my voice and have been unable to talk for the last 2 days! Since I work on the phone, 2 days of lost pay added to the high price of this cruise just might put off retirement a few months. :D:D:D

  10. Kind of curious. Why that ship? There are cheaper options from other ports. What date were you looking at?

I'm looking at June 6th. The port is close to where my Dad lives and I thought he would really like the itinerary and the sailing down the river prior to going out to sea. I already have our flights booked and paid for. It would be a real shame not to do it but I really think it's overpriced (especially since I'll be paying for 4 people in 2 cabins). I realize that the previous sailing is much cheaper but it's not during Dad's birthday. He only turns 80 once! :)

Do you really think they would sail with more than 30 empty cabins? Only 2 cabins that we would have considered have sold since I've been watching!

  11. I have been watching a particular sailing in June on the Fascination as we wish to celebrate my father's 80th birthday with a short cruise. The same 30 or so oceanview cabins have been available since I started checking prices about 6 or 7 times a day at least 5 weeks ago. I have to admit that the first time I looked, the price was $329 and I absolutely should have grabbed it. Instead, I started checking around to see if that really was a good deal and the next day, it shot up. It has been sitting at around the $500 mark ever since. It is around 6 weeks out. I just can't understand it. Why has the price not dropped? Any ideas?

  12. What is a cabin crawl or slot pull I don't know what those are

A cabin crawl is when people open up their cabins for all (registered in the cabin crawl) to see. This is a great way to see what the other category of cabins are in case you are wanting to book one in the future.

A slot pull is when a group pool their $ and put it all into one previously chosen machine. Everyone takes turns pulling and evenly splits the winnings, should there be any.

Both are a fun way to get to know the people on your roll call. Highly recommended.

  13. No. We're already booked on the 10/31/15 Silhouete TA and the November 2016 Reflection TA. We're looking at the 2/19/17 Eclipse 14 night Caribbean.

We booked that one! We did the Eclipse last month and loved it so much that we're doing it again.

Book it as a hedge. When on board if it is advantageous cancel and rebook. You will lose nothing unless your TA charges a fee for any changes or cancellations. And I would avoid one that does. It is also advantageous to shop around for a TA as some pay your gratuites for some cabin classes. I have found that many times paying $10 more for a cabin will result in the gratuities and SBC. Doesn't make sense but what does?

    happy cruising 🌊🚢🇺🇸🌞

I agree. This is a good suggestion.
