Oh, how did I miss that! Thanks for that info. I was frantically trying to check deck plans on my phone. Are Splendor and Freedom Sister ships?

No, more like cousins! Splendor is in it's own class, but there are many similarities. I like Splendor so much more because it has an awesome spa. I'm super pleased with this change.

I booked that Alaska cruise specifically for the Grand Scenic Ocean View Cabin.  I was thrilled to give that category a try. When I checked the Splendor, it does not have that category, and I am curious to see what the replacement cabin will be. I am hoping that I don’t just end up with a regular ocean view because prices have gone up.

Splendor does have the 2 Grand Scenic OV cabins on deck 9 🙂

I'm thinking there are going to be some very upset Alaska cruisers if this change comes to be. Choosing the ship and cabin is just as important to us as the itinerary. The Spirit is a nice ship for Caribbean destinations IMO, but it falls short for an Alaska cruise.

The Spirit class is actually really nice for Alaska, but for those that booked certain rooms not available on Freedom it’s going to be disappointing. We sailed on Miracle to Alaska in an aft balcony and it was awesome! Unless they replace our scenic grand with an aft, we probably will cancel. I’m sure that won’t happen. There are fewer aft’s on Spirit than Freedom, so how are they going to reassign all those?

  4. That's a really full day in Puerto Vallarta. We did the Rhythyms Of The Night a few weeks ago and it was amazing. We went to the Hacienda last October on a jeep excursion. It was really hot the day we went and the pool was so refreshing. Hope you don't get back late from there because the Rhythyms Of The Night meeting time is 3:00 or 3:30.

We also went on the Luxury Yacht Cruise in Cabo on our last cruise and loved it! We went snorkeling and the visibility was great with tons of fish to see. We saw several whales on the return trip. The food and drinks were great too!

  5. We go to the Sandbar for massages whenever we’re in Cabo. Last time we were there we took a taxi which was $14 there and $12 back. We’ve also walked there going around the marina and then walking along the beach. It’s a 20-30 minute walk.

  6. This is so disappointing after multiple cancellations in the last year and a half. We had a pretty good casino rate in a spa balcony for our New Year’s eve cruise on Horizon, plus $1300 OBC. We don’t really need the extra $200 OBC and really don’t want to go on an older ship.  My husband has convinced me though we should go ahead and go with what they give us. The email states we will be assigned our ship and stateroom no later than December 21. Hoping for the Sunshine over Liberty for dining options. If the itinerary changes to something like Freeport or Nassau I will definitely cancel.

When I brought Lilah home I was searching for a black kitty. The closest I could find was black and white. Black cats are the #@$%.

Gin and tonic over ice with a squeeze of fresh lime. Nothing better.

The absolute worst and I agree with Peter.

It sure is! 🙂 Dad's house is up there. When the time comes we'll first rent, then inherit the house. It's the closest thing to a family home we've ever had. Mom and Dad bought it new and it's never been sold since then. I love, love, love the idea of cooking in my mom's old kitchen. DH is totally on board with going to Florida and living in that house when the time comes.

Well, sheeeeit, who's gonna remember anybody on the interwebs in seven years? Come to think of it, I belong to a group via a recipe site and we've been together for more than 20 years. Anything can happen.

I have a VW with the gas cap on the weird side of the car. lol

My first experience with liter petrol pricing was when I lived in Japan. This was back in the 80's and I think it was 79 yen/liter back then. I made sure to have plenty of gas before I ever left the base!

I remember The Melting Pot fondue restaurants in the '70s. They were at all the malls, which were also new and wonderful back in the day. I love it, but I didn't have the patience for the cooking of the meat. Chocolate fondue was more my style. Hah!

We usually always go to Melting Pot for our anniversary up until this last year due to them being closed. My very favorite part was the chocolate fondue with the wonderful dippers! Brownies, strawberries, rice crispy treats, marshmallows, etc..

    Fondue sounds good!

We have a small fondue pot  --  but have never used it...

I think now that we are only going to be living/staying in one place we will be much more likely to use it.
Luckily we only have one of those vs. 2, 3 or 4 of other items...

I hope you get to try it out,! I think I know what you mean about having other things you don't use...

  9. Anyone ever do fondue? This is my hubby's favorite and I made it for us since he was going on a 2 week work trip.

Gas prices are near $4/gal in San Diego. Thankfully I will continue working from home until at least the end of May, so don't really drive much.

So sad our May cruise was cancelled this week, but was of course expected.

  10. I wanted to share my amazing brussels sprouts that I made tonight. I think the key is to not over cook, so they remain firm and not mushy. There's a restaurant here in San Diego, BO-beau that's famous for these. The recipe is available online for anyone interested.

So sorry for everyone dealing with weather right now. It's warm and beautiful here in San Diego if anyone is thinking of a nice place to vacation. Unfortunately many things are still shut down, but hoping things will change in the near future.
