Do you know if Celebrity does this? It looks like you can select the train or motor coach to transfer from Seward to ANC or Seward to Egan Center)...but I didn't see any information about storing luggage at Egan Center, or transfer onward to ANC later (looks like it is strictly to ANC or Egan). Is there luggage storage available at Egan center? I have the same conundrum as the OP, but we are on Celebrity and will have a group of 11 with at least 7 of us planning a 23:50 departure from ANC.

Last month, few masks seen. I had one with me at all times, and mostly would use it if I was going to be in a packed elevator or in an interior area without much air flow. There seemed to be a decent amount of air flow in most areas of Oasis. Someone posted in our roll call about a bunch of people in their large group having active covid at the time of the sailing and still went on the ship 🤬. Thankfully, none of us from my group brought any "viral souvenirs" home from our sailing.

I didn't notice any significant issues in service or food on Oasis last month. MDR service seemed to take a little longer than usual but it was still very attentive and friendly. The one trip to WJ was pretty much WJ as usual--tons of food, tons of selection and tons of people all fighting for seating. There were plenty of agents available at guest services and agents with ipads would assist with people queued up with small issues to help move along the queue. We spent a lot of time in Coastal Kitchen and the suite lounge and service was impeccable. The suites were showing some wear and tear, but nothing too unexpected (loose door latches and drawer pulls). Apparently the showerhead in the smaller bathroom was dripping, and maintenance fixed it promptly. The extension cord and distilled water for the cpap (requested about 2 months in advance) never showed up, but it wasn't an issue since DH used his travel cpap machine. The tumbler for the soda package for my son never showed up either, but he hates the freestyle machines and would usually just get soda from a bar so it worked out fine. We already have several of those tumblers cluttering up our pantry as it is.

OMG WOW! Thank you for all the info. Unfortunately, I won't be able to stay very long in Seward (probably overnight at most), but some of my family may be staying later since their work schedules will permit.

My sister is buying a Lonely Planet guide. I think honestly everyone is overwhelmed at the wide range of things to do. My youngest son (will be 20 at the time of the cruise) wants to do one of the excursions to see and play with the Huskies. There is a lot of interest in cultural excursions and hiking, but I'm not sure how I feel about hiking without a guide. No significant mobility issues or phobias.

Lafayette. Sometimes husband and I have just hand-carried our luggage off the ship though, just because we tend to travel fairly light. On our last cruise (granted it was RCL), we were given about 10 priority luggage tags for the 4 people in our suite for disembarkation.

Going to be cruising the northbound Alaska route in Aug 2024. Just trying to accumulate any suggestions or pointers since this seems pretty overwhelming with all the options available. Will be on Celebrity Summit, so my group will be wanting to get out and experience the ports.

Yes, as in could we disembark with the concierge class passengers from our group if we are in a full suite? The only reason I would want to do that is to help the cruise newbies in our group and keep us more or less all together. Basically "herding cats" so to speak.

It would be to lunch with the rest of those traveling in our group (my siblings and their spouses, and our parents and possibly my adult children).

I didn't see anything about this yet, but will be cruising on the Summit in '24, and was wondering about the Concierge Class benefits and how the priority debarkation and concierge lunch on the first day work and if guests in full suites (The Retreat guests) would be able to join for any of these. Currently we all have concierge class cabins, but I'm considering upgrading.

We were in MDR on deck 4, table 520. Igede and Siddharth were lovely. Prompt, attentive service and they were both really nice and helpful. We only did 2 nights in MDR and the rest in Coastal Kitchen. I felt guilty leaving MDR dining to go to Coastal Kitchen. In Coastal Kitchen, the staff were beyond amazing. They arranged for a special treat of Sinigang (the BEST sinigang my in-laws had ever eaten, and my mother-in-law makes delicious sinigang) and lechon for my in-laws who were celebrating their Golden wedding anniversary. I agree that Loco Fresh was OK, but that QUEUE! We avoided WIndjammer because it was always so crowded. I was sitting at a 4-top with husband and my in-laws while they went back for extra plates. A couple tried to come sit down with me sitting right there and my mother in-law's cane resting against her seat. They seemed unhappy with me when I said that the seats were all taken.

If I recall, there were some people who did this years ago. Also, if full suites didn’t book all the cabanas, they would open it up for junior suites to book. Might be worth checking with your concierge. bathrooms are outside of the enclosed Barefoot Beach area, which can be a little bit of a walk if your cabana is close to the water. They are not exclusive bathrooms.

Southwest is not going to be back to normal for a long time. 😞 I was caught in the great Southwest Christmas meltdown. After disembarking Oasis on 12/22, we flew AA to Tampa to take care of the elders and make sure they got home OK, with a plan for husband and our boys to spend most of the next day with his parents and fly back 12/23 on the late TPA-IND flight. We were at the airport (and rental car already returned) when our flight was cancelled and rebooked by the airline for 12/25 morning. When we got up to start getting ready, that flight was also canceled by SWA and we they rebooked us for 12/28, which was too late for us. We went back to the airport, exchanged our 2nd rental car for a bigger SUV and drove from Tampa back to Indy in one go (exactly 16 hours from In-law's house to our driveway about an hour away from the IND airport). If I had to do it again, I would rotate the drivers and go straight through without sit-down meals. It is not a horrible drive, and depending on when you go traffic may significantly increase drive time. Took 2 days with a total of about 22 hours total travel time to drive that same route in 2019 a few days before Christmas.

In Miami for Oasis, there was a guy who confirmed we were all either suite or pinnacle to use the expedited line. We had zero wait and they didn’t check our times either. We were on the ship within about 10 minutes of entering the terminal.

I’m thinking a file of birth certificate photos stored on the laptop might be on my list for preparations next time.

Maybe you just haven’t met any swinging pinnies? I know people who just like the tropical nature of pineapple and use it as a cute motif—no signaling intended.

Yes in our room, there was some confusion and “why have the engines stopped?!” And then making the youngest get clothes on so he wasn’t going to have to hit the muster station in a towel 🫣. There were several near verbatim lines from the movie about that transatlantic ship’s inspired blockbuster movie.

It was out for a few minutes. We did start moving again, but it was just…weird. Add to this that my son and I stayed up watching a movie about a big ship on an ill-fated maiden voyage about a week ago 😬 which made me cringe a little to tell him to get dressed, and stay in the room unless the evacuation warning was sounded. middle son was in Jazz on 4, he said the power went out but they “just kept jazzin’”. In the cabins there was no light at all.

On Oasis currently. This evening during the mad dash to get out bags set out, the power went out. There was some smoke seen off the starboard side with a burning plastic smell. The engines stopped. It was eerie. Now, seems like the whole ship has a strong sewage smell. 🤢Anyone know what happened?

Currently on Oasis, and the Pinnies wearing their badges have all been pretty nice. One lady (I didn’t see her name) let some of the CK staff and other passengers watch the World Cup PK shoot out on her phone. It was a nice moment to see everyone all enjoying something together.

We had some people who made it abundantly clear that they were D or D+. I don’t think there were many Pinnies at that time (March 2015). If they were, they were not very in-your-face about it.
