I am platinum and booked an inside sailaway for the 1st time. Got the worst cabin ever. The farthest forward on deck eight on gem. It was horrible during rough seas. Met others that booked sailaway after me with no latitude status and they got great cabin assignments. Who knows???

Never had more than an hour for dinner in MDR but that has been on the smaller ships. That is why I like the smaller ships like spirit, Dawn and Gem. No lines. No waits and faster service.

It is sad that some inexperienced cruisers will now book at these rates and not know to keep looking for price drops after Friday.

I am platinum but even if I had no latitude status I would not pay for this. Not worth it in my opinion.

This past April I took a last minute cruise on NCL Gem Boston to Bermuda for my 1st solo cruise. Inside sailaway and using a cruise next cert that someone here on cc was giving away. It cost $34 per day total. No flights needed. It was a great 7 night cruise. $262 total cost.

We upgraded to another 3 night dining package on our 7 night cruise and regretted not doing the MDR. The menu choices were better.

What ship and cabin?
-
I would not upgrade to a six night specialty restaurant package on a seven night cruise. The main dining rooms are really good. We are now platinum and never go beyond our 2 night free specialty dining perk because we like the MDR menus better.

How many days is your cruise?

We were on this same cruise last year and had a blast. Wish they would do another 14 night Caribbean from Boston next year.

I have only booked sailaway guaranteed inside once on the Gem. Got assigned the farthest forward cabin in the corner. The first 24 hours were very rough seas. Can not describe how bad the noise of waves crashing against the hull on both front and side of cabin was. Also the up and down movement was so bad I could not stand or walk in the cabin without holding on for dear life. No sleep or shower for me until out of that weather. Never again.

FDR was really arrogant with his statement of raising prices and getting every buck he can get out of the customers. I also work in customer service and my clients would have found his blatant statements offensive. There is a way to raise prices without insulting the customer.

Well if your steward on the Dawn was the best of the 10 cruises you've been on, wouldn't the other 9 by definition not be the best?
Yes they would. You are about the most negative person I have seen posting on the NCL boards. Why do you continue to even consider NCL? There are a lot of other cruiselines to consider if you dislike NCL so much.

What will I do every evening now that I do not have The Dougout Live Review to read?
-
We were in a midship mini suite on the Dawn last year and asked for a lounger. No problem. Our room steward was the best we ever had. Can’t say the same for the other 9 we had.

It depends on what kind of martini. The chocolate and espresso I know are more. At least $18. You pay the $3.00 difference and 20%.

I buy any liquor I want the last evening and I can take it with me.

Tomato soup with grilled cheese now? That's new.
Yeah. That is an odd appetizer for a specialty restaurant.

On long cruises my DH has bought some snacks when we stop in ports.

They have plenty of food but not snacks like those.

I want to know what you meant by last one also. No more live reviews?

We have gone on many 14-15 night cruises. We just packed enough clothes for those days. Yes it was a lot but better than relying on laundry service on the ship. I do not go on vacation to worry about laundry.
How are sail away room assigned?

True. The only reason I booked a sailaway is because it was last minute(4 days till sailing), great price and first solo cruise with no solo supplement.
